What is the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal used for?

The Roland EV-5 is a versatile expression pedal designed to give you real-time control over various parameters on compatible keyboards, synthesizers, effects processors, and other MIDI devices. You can use it to control volume, wah effects, modulation depth, filter cutoff, and many other expressive elements, adding dynamic performance to your music.

What kind of devices is the EV-5 compatible with?

The Roland EV-5 is compatible with a wide range of Roland and other brand keyboards, synthesizers, effects units, and MIDI controllers that feature a 1/4-inch TRS expression pedal input. It's designed to work seamlessly with devices that accept a standard expression pedal input for controlling parameters like volume, pan, or effects.

How do I connect the Roland EV-5 to my gear?

Connecting the EV-5 is straightforward. Simply plug the included 1/4-inch TRS cable from the EV-5's output jack into the expression pedal input on your compatible keyboard, synth, or effects processor. Once connected, you can assign the pedal to control specific parameters within your device's settings.

Does the Roland EV-5 require external power?

No, the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal does not require any external power supply or batteries. It is a passive device that draws its control signal directly from the expression pedal input of the connected instrument or effect unit. This makes it very convenient for any setup, reducing cable clutter and simplifying your rig.

What does the "Minimum Volume" knob on the EV-5 do?

The "Minimum Volume" knob on the Roland EV-5 allows you to set the lowest value of the parameter you're controlling when the pedal is in its heel-down position. For example, if you're controlling volume, you can set it so that the volume never completely mutes, or you can use it to define the minimum depth of an effect.
