The versatile electro-harmonix EHX Tortion overdrive/distortion pedal gives you an entire library of overdrive and distortion tones. Conjure up everything from vintage overdrive to 80's hair metal to modern metal tones with this ultra-tweakable pedal. The touch-sensitive EHX Tortion was designed after a 4-stage guitar preamp and loaded with tube-like JFET transistors to give you killer feel and playability. The harder you hit your guitar the more overdrive you get, just like a real tube amp. The guitar experts at Sweetwater have always been big fans of electro-harmonix pedals, and the EHX Tortion is no exception.

2-channels of tasty, tube-like gain

The normal mode of operation for the electro-harmonix EHX Tortion serves up low to medium gain settings. When you kick in the Boost mode, a fourth gain stage is engaged to give you modern high-gain tones. The volume and gain modes for each mode are independent. This lets the EHX Tortion act as a 2-channel pedal that gives you everything from warm cleans to over-the-top distortion.

Brilliant, versatile, easy to dial in

I've been playing with this pedal for a few weeks, and am more than satisfied with its sonic qualities, as well as its versatility. It delivers anything from a nice overdrive to dynamic, singing sustain, is very touch sensitive, and responds very well to the guitar's volume control. I've been running it into a few different amps, and couldn't be happier with it. It gives a clean valve amp effectively three channels, and turns a crunchy classic Marshall into a fire-breathing monster. Very well thought through in both concept and execution. Bravo, EHX!

Overall I think it is built well. High quality construction. Cosmetically pleasing to the eye. The best part is the tortion sounds great . You get a warm rich overdrive with this pedal and you can achieve that high gain crunch. It's like having two extra channels on your amp. Three band eq lets you dial in humbuckers or single coils. Having two separate volume and gain controls is nice giving that extra boost for leads. Great pedal would recommend checking it out.

Sweetwater Advice

Electro-Harmonix EHX Tortion

Creating a gain structure that's highly responsive and usable across the board is no easy feat, yet Electro-Harmonix has pulled it off. The low pre-gain settings have a nice appeal for those who want just a little more out of their clean amplifier. Engaging the boost reveals the other side of the coin, unleashing plenty of frenzied distortion for those with much heavier tastes....
