Twin coils for versatile tones The twin coils inside of the DiMarzio Bluesbucker pickup serve different purposes. A hot coil with six adjustable pole pieces provides your tone. The other coil sports solid pole pieces and is there to kill the hum. At Sweetwater, we've found that because the Bluesbucker's coils perform different functions, the direction at which it's mounted dramatically affects your tone. When the hot coil is closest to your bridge, you get a brighter tone; toward the neck it's warmer.
