A Pedal to Buffer and Boost Your Sound

The dual-purpose Wampler Pedals dB+ buffer/boost pedal is a smart addition to any electric guitar rig. Avoid the tone suck of a large pedalboard or long cable runs by using the dB+ as a buffer. Just set the gain at a unity level to your amp, and you'll buffer your entire signal chain without losing fidelity and clarity. As a boost, the Wampler Pedals dB+ is extremely musical and is great for adding punch to a solo. This true bypass pedal is perfect for sending your amp over the edge without compromising your fundamental tone. Whether you need to buffer a long signal chain or just need a great no-nonsense boost pedal, Sweetwater can recommend the Wampler dB+ buffer/boost pedal.

I was, at first, leary of buying this particular pedal as there are other options that cost far less. That said, I expected this Wampler product to be good, tone wise, but was not prepared for how much it really did for my setup-I do not in any way regret spending the extra cash on this db+. I use either a modified (Mercury Mag Choke) VHT Special 6 Ultra or my modified (Mercury Mag Choke, bias mod, old 'beautiful' preamp tubes) 5150 II that actually gives me a great clean tone.... and the db+ easily put me in SRV territory with my Baja Tele. With my Les Paul or SG, this thing proved useful way beyond what I had anticipated... what this pedal does to my tone is awesome. To make a long story short, I now use the buffer on this db+ all of the time... it is always on. I set the boost to about 9:00 to 10:00 and find it useful for both solos and for just adding some 'sizzle' to my tone, depending on which guitar I am using. As a 'for instance', I can now nail SRV sound/tone with my Baja Tele, where it would not hit that before the db+. I love this little pedal and find it extremely useful no matter what I am playing, or even on the different amps that I have. My next plan is to try it in my acoustic guitar setup as I can see it helping there too.

One Word.......Awesome!!!!!!!

WOW! The clean boost of this effect is super duper clean. No coloration of the guitar tone, just sweet clean boost. What I really bought this effect for was for the buffer. Unlike other buffers that are on all the time, this one has a switch on the side that allows you to turn it on or off whenever you need too. Now this doesn't sound like a big deal, but not all effects play nicely with buffers such as wahs and fuzzes. Now I have a rather large pedal board set up in my studio, 33 effect to be exact. I have always noticed a small amount of tone sucking in my set up where some of the brilliant highs were lost. This effect brought those highs back without coloration. I tested this by using a short cable with nothing in between the guitar and amp, then through the pedal board, the with the buffer through the pedal board. It really does work! If your running lots of effects or an extra long cable, I recommend you buy one. You won't regret it.
