With the Catalyst Controller Eurorack module, 4ms reimagines your architectonic relationship to performance and composition with a 20HP powerhouse that lets you build a path to navigate your sound. Its eight dedicated outputs feature dual-purpose functionality for both Gate and CV signals, impressing Sweetwater’s synthesists with its capacity to manage both simultaneously. An ultra-smooth horizontal crossfader allows you to manually transition between channels, but accompanying inputs for Trigger and CV signals promote a combinatorial explosion of interoperative modulation with your setup. Sculpt, shape, weave, and make
With its Catalyst Controller, 4ms have created a macro controller for your Eurorack rig, with 64 scenes of malleable musicality that can be as linear or dynamic as you need. Its voltage-controllable Pathway crossfader not only promotes an extensive array of interoperative configurations, but its morphing behavior between scenes can have its slew or lag time set to manage the speed of your scenes’ transformations. Plus, with each output capable of individually adjustable morph times, a supplementary dimension of temporal adjustment emerges to complement the linearity-breaking possibilities of hands-on control via the Pathway slider and manual scene-triggering backlit buttons. Moreover, CV outputs can be adjusted across several ranges, including ±5V, capping at +5V, +3V, or +1V, as well as its stock configuration of –5V to +10V. Further depth of control is granted with the Catalyst Controller by way of flexible quantization options, including commonplace scales, but you can go completely unquantized with confidence, thanks to its <1mV resolution. Crossfader motion can be recorded and replayed for up to 20 seconds of activity, with detailed copy/paste functions aiding in creative ideation or deploy the randomizer to inject controlled chaos into your set.

In fact, through holding down a specific combination of buttons, the Catalyst Controller transforms into an entirely different module: the Catalyst Sequencer. Each module shares this dual functionality, and if you decide you like one more than the other, you can even remove the faceplate, flip it over, and re-install it, thanks to the double-sided artwork that features the necessary visuals for both modules.
