MIDI Control Meets Standalone Step Sequencing
The Behringer BCR32 is an evolution of the brand’s B-Control BCR2000 USB/MIDI controller, turbocharged with ZAQ Audio’s Zaquencer firmware, which transforms it into a full-blown standalone MIDI step sequencer. That said, it maintains its predecessor’s universal USB/MIDI functionality, enabling you to trigger audio clips, MIDI events, and other MIDI-equipped gear, bolstered by broad compatibility with DAWs and other music production software. Teeming with hands-on control, the BCR32 features 32 multipurpose encoders and 20 programmable buttons. Moreover, you can assign any parameter you’d like to any of the unit’s panel elements, either manually or via the intuitive Learn mode. The BCR32’s crown jewel is its 32-step, 4-track Zaquencer, with storage of all global parameters and up to 192 patterns. You also get two independent MIDI controls per track, CV/Gate and Sync connectors, and assignable Footswitch connectors. Behringer: a brief history
Uli Behringer showed an interest in music technology design at a young age, building his own synthesizer by the time he was 16. In 1982, Uli began studying sound engineering and classical piano at the Robert Schumann conservatory in Düsseldorf, Germany. Uli’s defining moment came when he was repairing a signal processor made by a high-end manufacturer. Despite the processor’s expensive price tag, Uli realized that its internal components could be bought for a fraction of the cost. Being a strapped-for-cash student, Uli began building his own signal processors. Before he knew it, other students began requesting equipment from him. In 1989, after being bombarded with more orders than he could handle alone, Uli created Behringer, Inc.
