Winning tonewood combination
Part of the secret to the Big Baby's success is due to the tonewoods that are used to make it. The body begins with walnut back and sides. Walnut's tone falls between the warmth of rosewood and the ringing quality of maple. Next, a sitka spruce top is joined to the body to provide a balanced midrange and vibrant response to picking. The neck is made of maple with an ebony fingerboard to provide a defined attack. When you put all the tonewoods together, you create an instrument with warm lows and bell-like highs.
