Amazing vocal mic

I use this mic through a simple Focusrite 18i8 interface that feeds into Logic Pro to make demos, but this mic is way more than that. I've seen these in a lot of studios around Nashville and most engineers I've talked to trust Audio Technica condensers for vocals and recording other acoustic instruments. The best part about this mic in particular is the warmth it brings to a vocal. As a male vocalist with a softer voice, recordings often sound thin and pitchy. This mic solves that problem, even if I don't have time to add and fool around with plugins. Definitely recommend it for anyone, from simple studio rigs to professional audio engineers!

Great all-rounder with warmth and depth

The AT4047MP is a wonderful mic that I've found useful and downright incredible on every source I've tried it on. Male vocals sound warm with a nice sheen of air, and female vocals sound full bodied and breathy. These mics REALLY shine on drum overheads and room mics! They explode with a fast attack and cymbal trails sound smooth and detailed. I've found, when paired with an SM57, guitars really open up! Distorted guitars just sound more powerful and full while clean guitars sound punchy and warm. On bass cab, this mic sounds like the much coveted U47FET! It has a ton of depth and pics up a great balance of low end and high-mid string definition. In addition to all of this... this mic sound incredible on stringed instruments, especially those with a nice airy bowed sound! I've compared this mic with an old U87, U47FET, and a C414EB... The AT4047MP held it's own handily and even out performed most mics! I still really love the U47FET on male vocals and kick drum, but this mic performs wonderfully as a replacement!

Must have!

I'm using two of these for various stereo mic'ing duties. Superb, you-are-there quality to them in omni AB stereo. Great on acoustic guitar. Haven't tried it yet on piano, but I'm looking forward to it. I also used 4047 MP as a vocal mic for a male vocal, and it won out over the two different mics I had set up to choose from. Nothing wrong with the other mics, but the 4047 had something special about it. Hard to describe, but the highs were there without being harsh -- while at the same time, they had zing to them. I'm guessing the transformer has something to do with this.
