The milagro tree is the source of the premium Brazilian rosewood used in this special-edition acoustic's back and sides. Its distinct patterning and glassy sustain take the 916ce look and sound to a whole new level. According to Taylor, this is among the best Brazilian rosewood that Bob Taylor and Andy Powers have seen in their guitar-building careers. It's called Milagro (translation: "miracle") for a reason, Bob says: "This is the kind of Brazilian rosewood guitar builders would have used 100 years ago on pre-war guitars. It's as fine-grained as spruce, with a lot of grain lines per inch. When you tap it, it's like a piece of glass. It has an incredible tap tone." A standard Sitka spruce top adds projection and top-end sparkle for great balance and articulation that shines in the studio. Standard 900-series appointments, like intricate Ascension fingerboard inlays, ebony binding with koa/paua purfling, and a striking paua soundhole rosette, add a touch of flash to the guitar.
Grand Symphony body style gives you balanced sound and incredible projectionTaylor's Grand Symphony body style, featured on this Taylor 916ce acoustic-electric guitar, is a more modern take on the sleek Grand Auditorium shape, but with the waist moved up toward the neck. This gives this 916ce a slightly larger lower bout for an excellent blend of power and projection, without losing the high-end definition of the Grand Auditorium body style.
Taylor's Expression System 2 delivers incredibly natural sound with full dynamicsIf you play plugged in, then you're going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics built into your 916ce Grand Symphony acoustic-electric guitar. The key to this fantastic system is its 3-section proprietary pickup. Because of where it's positioned and how it's integrated into this 916ce's saddle, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls lets you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet phase switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression. We were more than impressed when Taylor came to Sweetwater to show us what this system can do, and we think you will be too.
