Thin, Dry Hi-hat Tone with Expression

Choose Sabian's AA Sick Hats for a thin, dry sound that is also extremely expressive. The large air holes give these hi-hats virtually no air lock, and you can hear the difference immediately. You'll hear every nuance of these cymbals, and if you want a bit more girth, just reverse them so that the holes are facing downward. The Sabian AA Sick Hats are also perfect for remote hi-hats.

Serious drummers rely on Sabian

With Sabian cymbals, you're in good company. Located in the small eastern Canadian village of Meductic, New Brunswick, Sabian has been supplying the shimmer on the top end of countless hit records for over three decades. First-call drummers such as Terry Bozzio, Dave Weckl, Neil Peart, and Mike Portnoy - and many of the drummers here at Sweetwater - rely on Sabian for the sizzle atop their kits, and you can, too.

Reviews

Unique and musical
I got a used pair a few years ago. I wanted something different in hi hats and was willing to take a risk. As the previous reviewer stated, VERY loud and trashy. Great chick sound with very little foot pressure required, so it's easy to play left foot patterns. They ain't sweet but are surpringly versatile: I've used them on country and rock gigs no problem because I can control the trashiness and get a musical, albeit "different" sound.

Don't expect to get a subtle stick sound suitable for jazz; they're not designed for this. You're not gonna get a Jo Jones classic sound (I've actually got the stick stuck in one of the holes when I tried). If you want to challenge your creativity with some fun hi hat sounds, though, try this Sick pair.
Music background: Been drumming for over 50 years, still gigging.

Loud, trashy. Just what I was looking for.
