How to Stop Annoying Amp Pops When Unplugging

How many times has this happened? You finish a set or a rehearsal or a practice session — or maybe you want to connect or disconnect a pedal — so you reach down to unplug your guitar or bass, and when you do, you get a loud “pop” from your amplifier. There’s an easy way to prevent those annoying (and potentially damaging, at high volumes) pops: unplug your cable from the amp side first. Unplugging from the amp won’t cause a pop, and you can even leave the cable partially inserted into the jack. Now, you can disconnect your guitar or bass without popping!
