What does the Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor do?

The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor is designed to eliminate unwanted hum, hiss, and other noise from your guitar or bass signal without affecting your instrument's natural tone. It intelligently detects the difference between your instrument's sound and noise, effectively silencing the noise during pauses and cleaning up your signal for a clearer, more professional sound.

How do I connect the Boss NS-2 for the best noise reduction?

For optimal noise suppression, connect your guitar directly to the NS-2's input. Then, use the NS-2's send/return loop to connect your noisy pedals (like high-gain distortions or overdrives). Finally, connect the NS-2's output to the rest of your pedalboard or amplifier. This setup allows the NS-2 to analyze your dry signal and apply noise reduction only to the noisy effects.

What do the Threshold and Decay knobs on the NS-2 control?

The Threshold knob sets the level at which the noise suppression kicks in, allowing you to dial in how aggressively the pedal gates your signal. The Decay knob controls how quickly the noise gate closes after your signal drops below the threshold. Together, these controls let you fine-tune the NS-2 to eliminate noise smoothly without cutting off your notes prematurely.

Can the Boss NS-2 power other pedals?

Yes, the Boss NS-2 features a 9V DC output jack that can supply power to other pedals on your board. This is a convenient feature for simplifying your power setup, especially when using a 9V DC power supply (sold separately) to power the NS-2 itself. It helps keep your pedalboard tidy and reduces the need for multiple power adapters.
