Simply Great

I am not a keyboard player, especially as my first instrument. The KMI K-Board has a feel and look that makes me approach the MIDI controller from a different perspective; the keys are raised, they light when pressed and the haptics set it apart from the wide field of mini-keyboards. My only regret is I didn't get the Qunexus.

Excellent and Useful

I wanted a simple, straightforward MIDI controller to use with my DAW and virtual instruments, something affordable that wouldn't require spending time futzing with extra software (drivers, &c.). Well, this little guy meets all those requirements, and it goes a whole lot further. The only piece of software required is the Editor, which lets you customize the response of your K-Board, and downloading and installing it is simple and fast. The K-Board implements Pitch-Wheel and Mod-Wheel control as Tilt/Bend and Pressure, respectively- the Tilt and Bend functions act as pitch-changers; what Pressure does depends on the plugin you're using. While the Bend key acts like a standard Pitch-Wheel, the Tilt function enables every key to change pitch (up for sharper, down for flatter), depending on the range set in the Editor. You can have some serious fun with Tilt- I've used it for acoustic-piano sounds, and it sounds gloriously ILL. (Wonder what Monk would have done with one of these...) So now I can play my virtual synths and drum machine in real time, without a full-size keyboard taking up space. I'll also note that KMI support has been outstanding- since I use a somewhat deviant DAW (Tracktion 6), and because I'm a MIDI ignoramus, I found the responses of some of my plugins perplexing; I was sending a question in on the KMI page when a little "Online" dialog box popped up on my screen, so I started a Chat with KMI Sales, and we sorted out that my K-Board was working correctly, plus I learned a good bit about MIDI and got a link to a useful MIDIMonitor app. So- for ease of use, versatility, and sheer FUN- and at such a low price- a K-Board is highly recommended.

Best For Mobile Work

I've had one of these since they were introduced and have to say its an amazing controller. Not only does it fit into any desktop set or backpack travel rig but it has some many great features and innovative ideas built in that you will not be sacrificing anything when sequencing or making music on the road. The finger tilt is something I can't live without anymore. It's also tough as nails! I'm planning to get a second one to leave at home, Yeah I'm still going to keep taking my original with me! I've dropped it, spilled beer on it and (Oops) stepped on it and it keeps working. Get one!

Very Amazing

This is a great little keyboard. I can toss this in my day bag with my computer or phone (With the necessary adapter) and play whenever and wherever I want. It's got a great feel to it, and is very easy to use. I'd definitely recommend this for a quick portable little keyboard (especially for songwriters on the go). The only thing I'd change would be to add another octave of keys for a bit more room.
