Pearl Masters MCX 4-Piece Shell Pack Review by Sweetwater Sound

In this video I am demonstrating the Pearl Masters MCX 4-Piece Shell Pack with a beautiful Artisan II Piano Black lacquer finish. This is a big and beefy sounding kit. With the first rack tom being 12″, you start big and get bigger from there. Premium maple shells and some really nice hardware give these drums great tone and were easy to get in tune. I’m using single-ply Remo Ambassador drum heads on the toms and they sound great, but I can tell that these drums would be able to get a lot more tones with some other drumhead combinations.

The drums are 6-ply, 7.5mm, 100% maple shells. The way Pearl builds their shells in this MCX series really brings out the resonance, punch, and low end. You get 9″ x 12″ and 10″ x 13″ rack toms,
a 16″ x 16″ floor tom, and a big 18″ x 22″ kick drum. The Masters MCX series also comes with some really nice hardware. MasterCast die-cast hoops and the OptiMount suspension system for the rack toms help get that great resonance. The Masters bridge lugs have a very cool look along side the elegant piano black finish.

Another very nice feature that doesn’t have a lot to do with the sound but will help the drums keep their beautiful look are the Molded rubber gaskets on the kick drum claw hooks. The drums come with 100% maple kick drum hoops and those rubber gaskets will really help keep the scratches and dings away when you need to change out the heads.

If you are looking for a drumset with classic looks and a warm, resonant, and full-bodied sound then you should look into this Pearl Masters MCX 4-Piece Shell Pack. You’ll be glad you did!
