About Studio & Recording Equipment
Sweetwater built its reputation by supplying professional studios with the gear they needed to deliver high-quality recordings to their clients. Today, that legacy continues, and Sweetwater has expanded its selection to serve professional and amateur engineers, producers, and recording artists at every level. From large recording facilities to small home studios, we have the gear you need to bring your musical vision to life!
Audio Interfaces
Modern computer-based recording setups are as varied as the artists who use them, but one thing they all have in common is an audio interface. An audio interface is a bridge between the music you make and your DAW (digital audio workstation). They range from small affordable models with one or two inputs to large professional models with dozens of inputs and advanced features. If you want to make music on a computer, you’ll need an audio interface.
Microphones
Unless you’re only making instrumental electronic music, microphones are an essential part of any recording rig. Sweetwater carries every style of microphone, from high-end condenser mics for pro applications to budget-friendly USB microphones for streamers and podcasters. Whether you’re recording vocals, guitar amps, acoustic instruments, or drums, you’ll find the right mic here!
Studio Monitors & Headphones
You might call them speakers, but in the studio, they're monitors. Why the difference? The word monitor means to check the quality of something over time, and that's precisely what studio monitors are for " checking the quality of your recordings and mixes. Monitors are your source of truth in the studio, so invest wisely! While you’re at it, opt for high-quality headphones for both tracking and listening. You’ll be glad you did!
Studio Mixers & Control Surfaces
When working with a DAW, you can easily get by with a mouse and a keyboard. However, adding a studio mixer or control surface to your setup gives you tactile control over your sessions to inspire your creativity and streamline your workflow. Control surfaces integrate with your DAW and provide knobs and sliders for manipulating parameters. Studio mixers include everything from digital boards with DAW integration and built-in recording capabilities to real-deal analog recording consoles " and you can shop them all at Sweetwater!
Preamps & Channel Strips
What does a preamp do? It amplifies the low signal of microphones and instruments to appropriate levels for consoles and audio interfaces. Most audio interfaces feature onboard preamps, but external hardware preamps (such as the Neve 1073 or the API 312) have desirable characteristics that add color and texture to recordings. Channel strips provide more options by adding an EQ, a compressor, or both. They’re a great choice, especially if you’re buying your first piece of hardware.
Computers, Software & Plug-ins
Except for the most hardcore analog aficionados, modern studio owners rely on a computer for recording. Sweetwater sells a range of computers optimized for audio production. Plus, we carry a vast selection of software and plug-ins, including DAWs, virtual instruments, and virtual processors. Today’s computer-based recording systems offer unprecedented control and flexibility. Build yours today!
Studio Furniture & Acoustic Treatment
When putting together your studio, it’s important to create a comfortable and attractive space to put you in a creative mindset. Start by selecting a studio desk. Then, organize your gear in studio equipment racks. Need a place to set your monitors? Buy yourself a sturdy pair of monitor stands. Don’t forget acoustic treatment. Adding acoustic panels and bass traps to your room will help improve the sound of your recordings and provide an accurate environment for mixing. Explore your options for studio furniture and acoustic treatment at Sweetwater.
