Gretsch G6636T Players Edition Falcon Center Block Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar - White, Bigsby Tailpiece Reviews

Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Maple Body, Maple Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Bigsby Vibrato - White

The demands of pro guitarists everywhere helped design Gretsch's G6636T Player's Edition White Falcon semi-hollowbody electric guitar without them even knowing it. This Falcon sounds just like the full-bodied classic you love, but has a smaller, lighter, more comfortable 16-inch body with a chambered spruce center block. Modern features like no-load tone pots and locking tuners offer great versatility onstage and in the studio. And the Players Edition White Falcon's striking appearance, High-Sensitive Filter'Tron humbucker tone, and haunting Bigsby vibrato make the G6636T Players Edition White Falcon a staple for rockabilly twang and classic rock 'n' roll bite.

A Falcon You Can Fly On

By Andy from Colorado on March 18, 2024 Music Background: Lifer

I've owned three White Falcons over the years. They're fantastic but they're quirky. They're not the most versatile. In fact they're among the least versatile six string guitars excluding the dedicated shredders and jazz boxes. But this center block Falcon is different. It's more in the vein of a 335 style guitar. It's a little more feedback resistant, a little more mid range-y and a little less strummy. The tone is superb. It has a nice snap and a beautiful sustain - especially with the Bigsby. I'm glad they left the useless mud switch off these. Bithe oickuos are fantastic.

The playability is off the charts good. It's a Custom Shop quality guitar. It easily gets five stars. Buy one!

A Vintage Instrument for the Modern Player!

By James Ramos from Stony Brook NY on February 15, 2024 Music Background: Semi Pro, CCM

This guitar is incredible. That's the tone I was looking for so long!! Has the Mojo to play every modern Pop, Rock, Blues, and Contemporary Christian Music, that incredible open cristal clear sound at the edge of break up with a nice Blues Braker circuit if you know what I am talking about. Has that punchy Rockabilly sound that Gretsch are know for. Incredible piece of Art. Build like a tank. No flaws!! Got so many complements thanks to the looks and the incredible sound.

Tone

By Sweetwater Customer from Bloomington, IN on April 29, 2021 Music Background: Been playing guitar and bass for about 40 years. More a songwriter than a player, though you'd think I'd accidentally be a great player after four decades. Not the case :-)

I had been thinking about a Gretsch for a while, and ended up with this one on a whim. I always experience buyer's remorse when I spend a decent chunk on a new guitar, but it was over almost as soon as I got this out of the case. It is a beautiful guitar. And when I plugged it in? The tone is FANTASTIC. I've been switching between an AC30 with a 2x12 cab, an Orange Terror and a Mesa Badlander (both driving an Orange 2x12 and an Orange 4x12). The all Orange set-up gets the most growl, and incredible harmonic overtones, but all three set-ups sound extremely good. I like the feel of the guitar, but something about the neck feels a little slow. Not sure if it is the finish, the neck shape (which is fairly chunky), or the combination. That said, when I walk into my music room, I keep picking up the Gretsch. No regrets. A great guitar, and tones that I just can't replicate with anything else.

Top of the line Gretsch Tone!

By Keven Ortiz from Houston, TX on September 28, 2020

Never played a Gretsch so solid and smooth. Super clean notes and sparkle tone in the middle position. I okay in the Worship scene And definitely nails those worship tones! I like the thin body shape on this one . I'm 5'4 and the guitar doesn't look like I'm holding an acoustic. Highly recommend this guitar you won't be disappointed. The set up wasn't the best but luckily new strings fix the string buzz . I Highly recommend paying for the set up before it ships .

Gretsch G6636T Players Edition Falcon Center Block-White, Bigsby Tailpiece

By Michael Simpson from Texas on January 14, 2020 Music Background: Taught lessons in College & play for therapy & enjoyment now.

I'll be 73 in March of 2020 and I've enjoyed a long pleasant journey with Gretsch guitars. From back in my college day's, I've owned three Chet Atkins Country Gentlemen and the White Falcon is my fourth purchase. One I traded in on another Gretsch & the other two I gifted to my Son's. My last and final purchase of the White Falcon goes to one of my grandsons when I conclude my pilgrimage on earth. When the guitar arrived, I felt like a kid at Christmas time. It's stunningly beautiful, elegantly designed, and fingerboard and action are the best. My thanks to the kind folks at Sweetwater and Gretsch for the dream guitar of a lifetime.

Kindest regards,

Disappointed

By Dave Maxwell from Colorado Springs on December 6, 2020 Music Background: keyboard/guitar 50 years/collector

As an old guy at 78, I grew up with my 62 Strat but
became attracted to the shorter scale Gretsch. Never
needed the large Falcon but this smaller one got my
attention. As one who owns numerous Japan made
guitars such as the T-Rose, Eddie Cochran, etc. this
guitar should never had left Japan. It had to have the
frets smoothed at edges by Luther. Not Japan quality.
A couple of other minor flaws not worth going into.
I can see it appears I am in the minority here. So
will chalk it up to 'got a lemon.'. Gotta blame myself
too cause I should have checked it better out of box.
But now it plays well so will keep it. It's a looker,
but would not be my 'go to' if I was still stage
playing.
