So excited it came yesterday my first new guitar. I'm easing into electric after years of acoustic.

Wow! what a great guitar for the money. This guitar is gorgeous, and more so in person. The one I selected has a perfect neck and fretboard, with just the slightest relief. The only adjustments I made was a slight one for the intonation on the high E string, and I lowered the action a little. This thing plays great, sounds great and I've had many compliments on not only how it looks but from soundmen and guitarists on the sound, tone and versatility. It is lightweight, which is good for older and smaller guitarists, and doesn't have a lot of neck dive. Besides having great tone with clean settings, I was surprised at how much growl the humbuckers have. I was a Fender fan most of my life, and have played Guild, Gibson and Epiphone, but always wanted to try a Gretsch. I play on a worship team, and there are lots of times that I'm cranking out the overdrive which I love. It just took a little getting used to the thicker neck compared to my Epi SG Muse. The Bigsby works great, everything works great. Comfortable on the shoulder and to play. For those of you that shy away from gold hardware, I clear-coated most of the hardware with good quality clear-coat from a spray can, and brushed it on. It "levels" out smooth, looks good, doesn't yellow, and will take a long time to wear off. Shipping from Sweetwater is always fantastic, as is my sales agent, Tomir. Once again.. thrilled with the product and the service from Sweetwater. The Gretsch itself has great tone.. Well constructed. Sweetwater's set up was spot on... I didn't even have to tune it out of the box!

The only thing I can say that may be negative would be is it can get out of tune from time to time. But I can honestly say I love this guitar and am so glad with my purchase.

This has been my first Gretsch guitar and I'm beyond impressed. The tone, how it plays and the feel is just awesome. I've always played Fender Strats and a Telecaster but I have to admit that this G5442TG just feels like home hahaha.

There's just something special about this guitar. Especially once you plug it in and let it ring, you won't ever regret that sound.

Purposly purchased for Rockabilly but plays so good in all genres, even the blues.! More than I could ever expect from a guitar at this price. A keeper!

This guitar is amazing! It's light, it plays easy, the dynamic range is incredible. I absolutely love playing my Gretsch. I'm young and only starting my guitar journey but I know this is an instrument I'll be playing my whole life.

I had an orange Gretsch Chet Atkins Signature double cutaway purchased new for $450 in 1968, but had to sell it as family needs became more important with the passage of time. Needless to say I was heartbroken when it left my possession. I always wanted another Gretsch, but the prices became exorbitant. Then I saw this double cutaway hollow body and fell in love with the looks. To be assured, I watched and listened to every review I could find and believed it would be more than an adequate replacement. To my surprise, it is everything and more than I could ever hoped for.

I called Sweetwater to place my order for a G5422TG Snowcrest White Electromatic on noon Friday 8/26, and Max Rice helped me put together the purchase including the 10% discount on both the guitar and matching Gretsch case. It was shipped the same day and arrived about 24 hours later Saturday 8/27. Extraordinary service.

After the 24 hour wait, I unpacked it today, and it is truly a thing of beauty. On inspection, I could not find a single flaw, the finish is perfect, the fret edges on both sides of the neck professionally smoothed and polished, the action was very low with no noticeable buzzing up and down the neck to the 22nd fret and perfect intonation. The only thing I may do is eventually change the strings to D'Addario XS0942 strings, but for now the existing strings will get a good work out.

Kudos to Sweetwater for their outstanding inspection and setup of their guitars. This one is a keeper, and after several hours, it is already becoming my go to guitar. I'm not sure my other guitars (4 nylon and two steel string) will ever get much play :)
