The Origin of Studio-grade Sound
In Neumann’s long history of recording excellence, many of its models have become milestones in the world of professional audio technology — it’s no coincidence that you’ll find Neumann microphones in the lockers of the world’s most prestigious studios. Neumann credits this success to its uncompromising approach to quality, both in the development and the manufacture of its products. In the rare case that your product requires service, Neumann stands by its offerings with a pledge to repair all microphones made since 1947, utilizing original spare parts whenever possible.
Achieve the Highest Sound Quality Possible
Neumann’s steadfast dedication to quality ensures that when a customer buys a Neumann product, they’re rewarded with unsurpassed sound quality, reliability, and lasting value. Many a Sweetwater employee dreams of one day owning a locker full of Neumanns, as its products are true investments that will continue to provide professional-grade sound for generations to come. And while Neumann is held up as the gold standard among sound engineers everywhere, Neumann counts legions of world-famous musicians among its ranks. No matter your generation or style, there’s a very good chance that your favorite songs were recorded using Neumann equipment.
A History Steeped in Sound
More than just a microphone company, Neumann’s aim to elevate the sound of your entire signal chain began in 1928 with its visionary founder and genius inventor Georg Neumann. After all, while Neumann is famous for creating the first commercially available condenser microphone, it also produced phonograph record–cutting lathes — that was the only recoding medium available at the time.
Throughout the age of vinyl records, Neumann arguably served as the market leader in disc-cutting equipment. From the late 1960s to the early 1990s, Neumann further raised its game by adding mixing consoles of uncompromising quality to its repertoire. 1991 marked its entrance into the Sennheiser group, but Neumann’s development, marketing, sales, and service departments remain in the place where it all began: Berlin, Germany.
Continuing the Klein + Hummel Legacy
Since 2010, Neumann has also offered professional-grade solutions for studio monitors, continuing the legacy of Klein + Hummel — a trailblazing German loudspeaker innovator that introduced the modern concept of a powered studio monitor with active crossover as early as 1967. As part of Neumann, this legacy lives on, now further elevated by Neumann’s range of KH studio monitors. Ever ready to expand its innovation, Neumann began offering studio headphones in 2019 to bring its lauded sonic precision to a portable format.
Exceptional Quality and Precision
Neumann’s legendary microphone models are crafted in a state-of-the-art facility near the city of Hanover, Germany. And despite all the cutting-edge advancements in technology since Neumann’s founding, its microphones still involve a significant level of skilled human craftsmanship. In fact, Neumann credits the sheer skill, precision, and expertise of its specially trained employees as the decisive factor in their brand’s sterling reputation for quality.
An Unmatched Standard of Quality
To meet the exacting demands of the world’s most iconic studios, Neumann microphones undergo strict testing procedures throughout the entire production process. In fact, the capsule on your Neumann microphone is subjected to more than 50 rigorous tests before the microphone’s final assembly.
The Perfect Link
In 2023, Neumann launched its first-ever audio interface: the MT 48. This interface was developed in close collaboration with Swiss company Merging Technologies, which is renowned for its high-end converters and innovative audio and network solutions. Sporting expansive resolution, future-proof audio-over IP connectivity, and an intuitive touchscreen interface, Neumann’s MT 48 is the perfect link between its legendary microphones and the KH line of studio monitors. Just as its founder Georg Neumann once envisioned, Neumann now counts itself among the select few companies whose products cover the entire signal chain in reference-grade quality.
