Neumann KH 120 II DSP Powered Studio Monitor - White Reviews

245W Active Studio Monitor with 5.25" Woofer, 1" Tweeter, Bass Reflex Cabinet, Onboard DSP, and EQ - White

When Neumann introduced its KH 120 compact nearfield monitor, studio professionals listened up. After all, Neumann is the granddaddy of pro audio transducer manufacturers, having debuted their first microphone — the CMV 3 — in 1928. Now, the KH 120 II builds on the considerable success of its predecessor with across-the-board improvements: more power, an onboard DSP engine, deeper bass response, higher SPL capability, and even better resolution. The internal DSP power facilitates linear-phase crossovers and room-adaptive alignment with Neumann’s groundbreaking MA 1 Automatic Alignment system. As you would expect of a Neumann product, the KH 120 II is designed for unerring monitoring accuracy and, thanks to its impeccable build quality, will provide you with dependable service, session after session, year after year.

New and improved

By Sweetwater Customer from Boston on January 10, 2024 Music Background: Recording artist/recording engineer

Ive had the original kh120 multiple times. I always switched because i wanted just a little more bottom end. I loved the mids and highs. Its a sound ive gotten to learn and love but always wanted a little more.
Enter kh120ii and my prayers have been answered. Is it a huge bump in the low end?… no, but its enough to get your mixes correct when listening to the lower register. I mainly record live instruments. Latin music, country, etc. and these give me the full picture to hear whats going on.
Get the neumann ma1 monitor alignment and these monitors get 10xs better. They just open up. The sound stage gets wider and the bass is tighter. Its like you can reach out and grab the instrument.
I highly recommend getting a pair of these if you are mixing. I used to switch monitors all the time before these came out. After getting the kh120ii i dont feel the need to even look at what else is out there. I don't think about my monitoring anymore because i know its that good.

Amazing sound

By Jake from Los Angeles on November 10, 2023 Music Background: Hobbyist

I upgraded from Adam T5Vs and the KH120II really has a clarity and control to the woofer that the T5V could struggle with. The MA-1 microphone was included as a promotion, and the calibration improved the sound a bit. (see attached photo) These speakers get pretty loud, I never have to turn them all the way up but the option is there.

I haven't made any music with these yet. I have dj'ed on them at home and listened to songs while I work. Good songs sound better but some songs that I like on other speakers are not as forgiving on the KH120IIs. The white color is a a nice clean change from the usual dark shades. I'd recommend these to anyone.
