    My new go to guitar

Sounds great, looks amazing, plays easily and even smells wonderful! This guitar came set up perfectly out of the box. The customer service at Sweetwater is top notch.

Les Paul Standard 2017 T Bourbon Burst

I received my Les Paul Standard 2017 T Bourbon Burst on 10/19/16. When I first opened the case and saw my LP I was amazed at the appearance. Better yet, when I first played it I was surprised on the excellent playability. This makes my third guitar purchase from Sweetwater. My other three guitar purchases, two being in 2013, are a Gibson SG Standard Heritage Cherry with Min-ETune and a Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Translucent Blue with gold plated hardware. In 2014 I purchased a US Fender 60th Anniv. Stratocaster with gold plated hardware. I am a 100% satisfied customer with Sweetwater and highly recommend them for your guitar purchase, you won't be disappointed. Thank you Ted H. for my recent guitar purchase and the past three guitars I have purchased. You and SweetWater are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nice but flawed

The guitar neck feels great to me and plays very nice. The flame top is nice but the electronics are lacking. The mainstream circuit board short cut for potentiometers and capacitors is sad. I love the classic Les Paul sound but this falls short. This neck played so well for me I ultimately decided to keep it and had it modified with the 50's Jimmy Page wiring. I'm sure the internal controls being in a drop in circuit board and quick connect pick ups are nice to streamline manufacturing and quality control for handsolderimg but the tone suffers. So yeah it's sad to say "I settled" to keep an almost $ guitar but that's what I feel like.
Hindsight I would have just went the PRS route. The SC245 fit, finish, electronics, and attention to detail seem to be well worth the extra $. I'd say live and learn but this purchase for me is more than likely once in a lifetime pretty much so I hope this helps others make a better educated decision than I. There are workarounds for the cuircut board but be prepared for an immediate modification. That is unless you like the muddier kind of tone. I'm not sure if this will be a long term keeper for me or if I will eat the loss and sell it some day I guess time will tell. Its not horrible by any means but I'm not sure they should call a hollowed out body and drop in PC board for internals a Les Paul but hey that's just my 2 cents.
