Wield Gibson's Winning Formula

The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top boasts the classic design that's kept this solidbody electric guitar relevant, played, and loved throughout the decades. You won't be able to take your eyes off this Les Paul Standard's figured maple top, and its '60s Burstbucker pickups milk every ounce of tone out of its musically resonant mahogany body. The Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top's set mahogany neck wields Gibson's time-tested SlimTaper profile, and its Plek'd 12-inch-radius Indian rosewood fingerboard offers playability that's second to none. A Graph Tech nut, ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge, aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons round out this Les Paul Standard's hardware. You also get single-ply body and fingerboard binding, acrylic trapezoid fingerboard inlays, a mother-of-pearl headstock logo, and a spotlight-stealing nitrocellulose lacquer finish. If you've been wanting a modern Les Paul with a slinky '60s feel and premium appointments, Sweetwater has your axe. The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top is the one you've been waiting for.

Vintage PAF tone

When it comes to bottling vintage Patent Applied For (PAF) humbucker tone, nothing beats the sound of this Les Paul Standard's '60s Burstbucker pickups. These magnets — along with period-correct unmatched windings on the bobbins — capture the subtle historical variations in true humbucker tone. Plug into your favorite amp and experience smooth low-end response, complex midrange crunch, and sweet-sounding highs. These pickups sound great clean, or they can be used to push your amp into overdrive for the legendary fat, snarling tone you can only get with a humbucker. Under the hood, the control assembly is handwired with audio-taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors, ensuring you'll hear the mellifluous voice of the Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top in all its glory, even when you back down your volume.

SlimTaper neck and Plek'd frets

Comfort and playability were Gibson's primary concerns when designing the Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top. You'll be delighted by how this guitar's SlimTaper neck profile comfortably fits your hand just the right way. For your playing pleasure, the rosewood fingerboard is buffed to silky smoothness and bound with rolled edges so that no fret ends impede your dexterity. The frets are dressed to perfection using a Plek Pro machine for optimized playability. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you'll likely own.

Classic nitrocellulose lacquer finish

Gibson gave the Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes — standard back in the day — are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to "breathe." Nitro finishes not only look amazing, but they also enhance the instrument's tonal qualities. The Les Paul Standard '60s Figured Top has the look and feel of a lovingly cared-for classic — one that will only improve with age.

Gibson Awesomeness

Yep. Just as I thought. Guitar, case, setup and sound just as I suspected. Unmatched tone and action. Setup was perfect! This just may be my go to guitar ahead of my Ernie Ball Reserve John Petrucci model.

Quality and vibe.

This is not my first Les Paul. I'm not sure how many I've had over the years, but the Honey Amber Les Paul Standard is what one would expect from Gibson. I've read over the years how Gibson has lost its quality, but I found this guitar exhibiting the same quality (premium) as my other Les Paul's. The sound and playability of this instrument is jaw dropping. Make no mistake, Gibson made this run of guitars special. This guitar will age well with my others. This guitar is a legacy guitar.
Music background: Soundscape and scoring for film.

The Standard is an appropriate name.

My goto Gibson electric. My number one acoustical is a Gibson J45 which I also bought at Sweetwater. My Sales Rep is Ryan who has helped me with tons of equipment. Over the years I have and have had many guitars, but I must say that this Les Paul is probably my favorite. The sound and the looks are unmatchable.
Music background: Depends on who your talking to.

From rockers to jazz cats, there are generations of guitarists right here at Sweetwater who swear by Gibson guitars. Not only do they make many of the most iconic solidbody electric guitars of all time - the Les Paul, the SG, the Flying V - but they also produce classic hollowbody and semi-hollowbody models and some of the most iconic acoustic guitars on the planet. We play them all! Our close relationship with Gibson often allows us to stock exclusive models and rare finds, and we're always happy to turn players and collectors on to the gems in the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery. We also have access to all the latest Gibson hardware, and the Sweetwater Guitar Repair Shop has upgraded countless guitars with their top-of-the-line humbuckers, classic P-90s, and more.
