Orange Amps

A Brief History of Orange Amps

Hailing from London, the Orange Music Electronic Company has cemented itself as one of the go-to amp builders in rock music. Since hitting the scene in 1968, Orange has turned heads with their iconic orange-colored amps and perked listener's ears with their legendary amp tones.

In their early days, Orange dissected the sounds of some of the most popular English guitarists of the 1960s, including Peter Green, Marc Bolan, and Paul Kossoff, and designed their amps to best suit those players' needs. Not only did Orange amps impress some of the leading names in music at the time, but they were also the first amps to use durable basketweave cabinets, which made them ideal touring amps.

What do Orange Amps have to offer?

Tones and features range from amp to amp, but Orange amps typically have clean and dirty channels that sound great no matter the setting. The clean channel on Orange amps boasts a focused mid-range and a rounded high-end treble, a combination that distinguishes them from other amps.

While the clean channel is excellent, Orange amps are best known for their dirty channel. It's marked by a big, robust sound that is at the center of some of the greatest guitar tones in modern metal, blues, and rock history.

Legendary guitarists such as Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, Jim Root, and Brent Hinds have used Orange amps for their live shows. Hinds, an Orange devotee, has his own signature amp head, the Orange Brent Hinds Terror. While Orange amps are known for their instantly recognizable cabinets, they offer a wide variety of tube, solid-state, and hybrid amp heads and combo amps in numerous sizes to best fit your needs.
