Love it.

Everything I wanted in a practice amp. It has the volume to keep up with other instruments, and has great sound at low volume. Would definitely recommend.

Orange Amp

I love this amp. The build quality is fantastic. And it has a beautiful wide range of tones.

Barely scratched the surface!

By Rod Spinelli from Marietta, GA on February 20, 2024 Music Background: Avid rock listener!

This is my first amp and so far I am loving it! It's plugged to my Les Paul and it sounds amazing right out of the box. I don't own any pedals yet so I am listening to its build in reverb and other tweaks. I do use the AUX input to plug in my tablet to play background tracks while on the guitar and the sounds have quite nice separation but also blend in real nice, if that makes any sense.

The tuning functionality is very helpful on a pinch but I use the tuner on the headstock that came on the combo pack with this amp and a cable and a variety of guitar picks (and some candy)!

I did receive an unexpected call from Michael right after the product shipped to offer support, tips, guidance, etc. that was super nice

AMAZING AMP

By Jack on February 9, 2024

I just received this amp 4 days after I ordered. Great service from Sweetwater as usual. I have had the 20rt for years and used it as a test amp in my guitar repair shop. Recently I began to use it to play jazz guitar in my music studio. I am amazed at the sound and versatility of that little amp. So, I decided to buy the 35 RT. The 35RT is much like the 20RT but has a warmer fatter sound. It is perfect for finger style, jazz and classical music. The amp is so versatile that I can dial in the sound I am looking for. I don't play rock but other reviewers rave about the amp. I very happy with the amp would recommend it to anyone. And, the price is incredible for the quality!!

great sounding small gig or practice amp

By Sweetwater Customer on January 9, 2024

having never tried Orange amps before I took a chance and was not disappointed from nice sounding cleans to a surprising range of dirt and distortion as well as onboard digital reverb really make this a great choice over the small practice amps it doesn't weigh too much and no tubes to be concerned with yet you can easily dial in so many great sounds that rival amps with much higher cost
my only real issue would be the lack of foot switchable reverb on and off the amp has a single button footswitch (sold separately)
a very small inconvenience that cannot take away the smile that appears every time I easily dial in a great tone with this amp

Great amp for the price

This is a really high quality amp for the price i highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great tone on a budget.

This Amp Packs a Punch

By Jason from California on September 26, 2023 Music Background: Been playing guitar since 1993.

I've played through many amps over the past couple of decades and this one was a pleasant surprise. I wanted a smaller sized amp to practice in my bedroom/house without having to move larger amps/cabs around. I've never owned an Orange amp before, but I decided to pull the trigger because of all the great reviews this was getting. The clean/overdriven channels both sound great on their own. It also sounds awesome when running my pedalboard through this as well. Finally, I was impressed with how loud this gets. At volume level 3 this rattles the windows in my house. This is definitely worth every penny!

Awesome amp

By Brandon from New Orleans, Louisiana on September 15, 2023

Worked flawlessly out of the box. I particularly enjoy the headphone feature. The modeled tone you hear through the headphones is basically the same as what you hear through the amp. Would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a great value on an amp. I also found the tuner easy and intuitive to use.

I've got a new Crush for my harmonica!

By Carl Brown from Grand Prairie, TX on September 1, 2023 Music Background: 20yr drummer and now harmonica player!

5 year harmonica player needed a loud clean amp. I've got a tube 5 watt already, but I need a mic to the PA to get loud. Did plenty of harmonica amp reviews, but everyone wanting the Chicago blues sound. I got that already. I wanted loud and clean and that's what this beautiful amp gave me and more with the onboard reverb and a dirty channel. I get to keep my pedal board small with an added foot switch for when I want to get down and mean wid it!! I like the effects circuit and I use it for my delay and harp tone after the preamp with my compression and noise gate before it. Just what the doctor ordered for me!

Remarkable Little Amp

By James Broskow from Columbia, MD on August 3, 2023

For a secondary, practice setup in my home office. I was duped by the positive grid marketing a couple of years ago, which I got for when I dont have access to my better stuff at home—and wanted an actual amp to replace that muffled, app-dependent, DSP trash. At this point, a british style gain along with some cleans is what I do, so decided to try solid state (analog) expecting I could get god gain at lower volumes along with lots of clean headroom also.

I was concerned about low end of a 10" speaker, and could afford more, so I tried out along with a Supercrush 100 combo. Secretly, I wanted to get the bigger amp (additional features), but the 35RT actually sounded better for what I was after. I can instantly get the gain tones at lower volume, whereas the supercrush is pretty dark at lower levels, even with bass zeroed and treble dimed—while I could get past that at moderate volumes, it defeated my purpose of lower volume practice.

It has an effects loop that works perfectly. Combined tone stack for clean and dirty, but upon dialing that in on dirty, I flipped to clean and was fine at same settings. The gain on this amp is really versatile…good range from classic rock through classic metal for sure—don't be concerned about what people describe as the "Orange" style. If I played it next to my DSL, I'm sure I would distinguish, but again, I have turn that one up to to get decent gain, and that shared tone stack does not transition well in a clean switch. The Orange does well itself also, when I would normally push the am with an O/D.

For those who have or are considering a low-end modeler (Spark, Katana, etc.), they are good as a beginner to explore various sounds, and perhaps direct out for recording, but you are missing out on the feel of a real amp through a speaker. This amp is an incredible value.

Incredible Tones

By Zach from tx on July 28, 2023 Music Background: 17 years

This amp is amazing in what it can do. Do not let the 35w 1x8 fool you. This thing ROCKS. I can shake my entire house with this thing on 1/3 volume. Easily giggable and provides incredible crisp tones, you can hear every note no matter how high the gain is, and if you want that dirty fuzz sound, just turn down the treble and raise those mids and experience the immense wall of FUZZ this amp emits. It is also capable of creating high gain metal tones from almost any genre! Absolutely satisfied with my purchase, I've been playing guitar 17 years and know good sound when I hear it. Take my word for it and just buy it!

Absolutely lovely!!

By Colin on July 25, 2023 Music Background: Started at a young age and continuing to grow as a artist and writer.

I got this amp knowing I wanted to play more acoustic and lighter songs while also playing heavy stuff such as Greta Van Fleet and Metallica ect, and it's a great option to play multiple genres!! It's very easy to switch from clean to dirty and it's super easy to customize your sound. I went from a amp with a lot of pre sets to an amp where I can choose the sound I want and like. The only thing that I find difficult is trying to level out the sound with the gain. But this amp has helped me a lot to grow as a guitarist and is a great option for beginners or more advanced players. Great product and sweetwater was once again some of the best service I've ever had while shopping for equipment. 100/10

A Second Crush

By Sandy from Seattle on April 19, 2023 Music Background: “Part time pro” since 1966.

I bought a second Orange Crush to use with my guitars, on jobs where I play pedal steel and guitar. The gain structure and eq settings are very different for the two instruments-so this setup makes for seamless transitions between songs. The compact size allows me to leave my entire rig in the trunk of my Honda!

Like getting a new guitar.

By Mati from Jackson Wyoming on March 6, 2023 Music Background: Just another hendrix fan

Wow I didn't realize what a good amp can do for your tone. This little Crush is easily superior to my old Marshall for tone. It makes my telecaster sound sooo sweet, like I upgraded to a new guitar! Especially with a touch of gain. This amp is perfection for $. Not to mention its other features like a built-in tuner. You can't go wrong with this amp.

Great amp

By Clark on February 10, 2023 Music Background: Experienced

It's not heavy, it's not expensive for what you get, and it sounds great. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a good quality amp that's portable. I purchased it to use a church and I have no regrets. The tuner is accurate and the reverb sounds good.

Best Solid State Amp

By Kyle from Maine on January 27, 2023 Music Background: 20 years playing guitar. Recording/small gigs.

I've owned pretty much every brand of amp over the years. Marshall, Fender, Vox, Peavey, Boss you name it.. Going from a Blues Jr tube amp to this I was trying to find something that would fill the void. It doesn't sound like a tube amp, nothing does except the real thing. This amp will get you pretty darn close to that tone though for about half the price. I was really surprised with the clean channel. By tweaking the EQ a bit you can get anything from sparkly cleans to smooth rhythm tone. The built in reverb sounds great and has a really wide range on it. The dirty channel has more than enough gain for any situation or genre, from crunchy blues to metal chugs. I usually just run pedals into the clean channel and it always sounds great. You can also record directly out of this amp by using the headphone output, which is really handy or run into a PA for band practice. Overall, I am really happy with the quality and sound of this amp. I love the simplicity with no computer screens or option paralysis, just simple to use great tone. Can't recommend this amp enough from beginners to pro's looking for a great practice or backup option. Thanks Orange, you Crushed this!

It's Orange; It's Good

By Sterno from Little Rock on January 12, 2023 Music Background: Bassist for decades

I'm a bass player and I play through Ampeg equipment. As I close in on 70 I decided to learn guitar. So I bought a Sire T3 from Sweetwater and grabbed this amp to pair with it. First I must say this 35 watt beast is louder than my 100 watt Ampeg RB. The OD on this thing is a dirt devil! It just rocks! It's small in size and weight but HUGE in sound. I can easily see micing it for performance in small rooms. Which it would require as this amp has no D.I. out. The on-board tuner works just fine. So happy I got this little combo. Thanks again to Jeremiah and Sweetwater!

A Surprise For Jazz And Pedal Steel

By Sandy Carter from Seattle on November 17, 2022 Music Background: A “part-time pro” since 1966. Musical instrument retailer for 17 years, and former Gibson Factory Rep/Demo performer

This amp is wonderful for jazz. I play 5 different arch tops, and they all sound great through it. Specifically, I judge how notes on the high E string sound first. Many amps tend to sound thin and harsh on this string. The Orange is clear-but fat and rich. Big close voiced chords sound distinct. The second surprise is how great it sounds for the pedal steel, for the same reasons. Probably due to the closed back birch cabinet. Apologies to Sweetwater-as this is one of the few items I haven't bought from you! I tried it on a whim in store and bought it on the spot.

AWESOME

Coming out of retirement I had no gear left. My lady bought me 2 of these . I come out of my board into them stereo using the clean channel. These amps deliver everything I could ask of them. They are extremely responsive to your touch. I haven't even played the high gain channel yet but I'm sure it is glorious as my friend would say. Don't let it's size fool you. This is no toy. My sales rep at Sweetwater,Kent Sallaz is the best. I've always been a Sweetwater fan now I'm an orange crush guy. Just do it. You'll be happy you did. MHD / SHAKY GROUND BAND.

Plenty of Amp

I love my amp!

By Al Villarreal from Southern California on April 15, 2022 Music Background: Semi-pro

I have a Blues Junior that I love but this amp is sturdy, well built, and rocks. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd own an Orange amp, now I'm a forever fan! Some may disagree, but I think it sounds alot like a tube amp. Also it's light and I don't worry about it as much as the Junior. The junior is now my practice amp. Buy one of these, cause the price is probably going way up in the future!

Orange Crush 35rt

By Matthew Lebish from Northampton, PA on March 23, 2022

This amp is amazing, you can't go wrong with it. It's got the basic settings bass, mids, treble, a clean and dirty channel, and a built in tuner. The essentials, given that you have a wide variety of sound you can receive from this amp. This amp rips anything from Slipknot to Led Zeppelin to Bob Marley. You really can hear that signature orange sound that you hear your favorite artist use. I've played Marshall's for a while. I don't even ponder going back. This amp is an essential to your collection. I recommend it to anyone that loves a good clean reggae/jazz tone to a down dirty heavy gain hard rock/metal tone. If your on edge trust me hit that buy button you won't regret it.

you can't beat it for the money

By Sweetwater Customer from NYC on March 4, 2022 Music Background: gigs and tours and shows in multiple venues since the 80s

I use it at home for practice and have used it for club and theater gigs. For cleans with a touch of verb, you can just go straight into the amp. It takes pedals well also. The on-board guitar tuner is cool. Really, I could do a whole show with this amp and no pedals and no outside tuner, be plenty loud, and get the job done.

This amp SLAPS!

By Ethan Ham from CAMDEN, SC on February 14, 2022

This thing is frigging awesome! It is loud in a bedroom at 1/4 volume, Its definitely giggable, the reverb is great, its tone is good for everything from Skynyrd to SLipkont.

Wow! Love this "little" amp!

By Joe D. from Garnerville, NY on February 11, 2022 Music Background: Playing guitar and in various band incarnations with friends since I was 15... I'm an old man now. At least that's what my kids tell me!

Just got this amp yesterday. The goal of this purchase was to have a small practice amp that was big enough to bring to rehearsals or jams with friends. I have a Mesa-Boogie DC5 that's been my go-to since the 90s. I love it to death with the exception of the weight (60 lbs). I could tell from the product demos (thanks Don Carr and Mitch Gallagher!!) that the amp sounded great, but you can never really tell how loud an amp is. I was not disappointed by any means. The 35 watts, even as a solid state amp, is plenty loud. This is perfect and exactly what I wanted. Looking forward to getting together with friends again, playing at normal volumes for a rehearsal and not breaking my back!

You can hear it in the demo videos but I will say the clean tone is perfectly clean, the dirty channel is just great classic Orange tone that you can dial up and dial down nicely with the gain. I'm also really impressed with the reverb control - just slight reverb or music-hall level echo and everything in between.

The Top #1 Practice Combo Amp

By George Lester from Lebanon, Oregon on February 7, 2022 Music Background: 50 Plus years guitar and some keys & harmonica

I have the Orange Crush 35RT and also a Micro Dark Terror Hybrid. Since the pandemic hit, I play primarily though headphones because the wife works from home now. I got mine in the black color as it blends into the living room decor better.
Studio Monitor headphones do work grea tas either of these amps do a simply fantastic 4x12 speaker emulation via the Sony MDR-7506 Professional Studio Monitor headphones that I pair them with. If I had the space in my bedroom, then I'd probably skip the Dark Terror in favor of having a 2nd Crush 35RT as it's only $80 more and sounds a bit better and is more flexible with a great clean/dirty dual channel design. This amp is well constructed and quality finished. The speaker and the voicing are Orange through and through, spot on. If you dig the Orange sound, then you simply cannot go wrong with this amp.

My go-to amp.

By Robert Pieper from Newark, CA on December 9, 2021

I love this amp! I have much more expensive amps, but they take forever to dial in the perfect tone. This guy is just plug-n-play, literally. It just has the perfect tone for all types of music too.

A great amp

By Jerry LaVine from Plymouth, IN on October 24, 2021 Music Background: 34yrs of playing music.

This little amp is amazing. I do solo gigs using a looper or backing tracks and my fender champion 100xl was to much for small gigs. I always liked orange amps and the 35rt is perfect. It not only has an effects loop but also an auxiliary so I play prerecorded backing tracks. The sound is so orange it blows my mind. It is a lot of amp in a small package.

Love It

By Sweetwater Customer on October 18, 2021

Only had this amp a few weeks and there's nothing that I don't like about it. I like the way it looks, operates and sounds. Great purchase and received quickly. Thanks Sweetwater and Orange amps.

Great Amp!

By Dale Mazurek from Alden NY on October 17, 2021 Music Background: Retired Pro.

This amp surprised me . Great sound , sounds like a tube amp and has great reverb and power! It is loud! And you can get that nice hollow body hum bucker feedback just fine! Sounds great with Strats and Telecasters played through it as well! It has a nice crisp clean sound, but can bark like a fine tube amp on the dirty channel!

Petal Painting Pallet RT35

By TonyC from Talli on October 13, 2021

I've been searching for tone for 50 years. I've had tubes and SS of great quality and weight. Something was always not satisfying to me. Here's how I run it. I place my modulation effects with compressor (first) in the S and R. of the Rt35. Then, I run my guitar direct to a Walrus EB10, volume pedal and East River Drive and Front end amp input.

No matter which guitar singles, hums, or P90's, the only adjustment on my pedals is a fast and slight treble and bass adjustment. This little amp pushes some surprising volume, interacts very well pedals, provides inspiration, and playing enjoyment.

I've been using this amp a few months, and my band members are surprised, impressed and complementary of the sound it produces. It was designed with some compression built into it. The dirt channel with my setup produces a nice bit of realistic breakup.

Among the many choices to be had in a 35 watter, I'm happy this was my decided choice. I based that choice upon the reviews I had compared. This amp is well built and designed. Keep reading the reviews. They're true.

Clean Sound

Fantastic sound with the little amp.

Just a Spectacular Little Amp

By Brianne Corbett from Buffalo, NY on August 13, 2021 Music Background: Been playing for a long long time but not a great guitarist. I admit it.

I wanted to replace my old Marshall amp with something that had Classic Rock feel but was up to processing data through an effects loop as I have pedals that I like. So I read lots of reviews and finally decided to take a chance on the Orange 35RT. I also got a Boss ME-80 to get those stompbox controls without having to be a computer programmer.

What a great choice this was. The amp is stellar with a beautiful clean channel and really nice Classic Rock style dirty channel. The effects loop works fine and the ME-80 produces incredible tone signals which the 35RT wonderfully converts to awesome sounds. I don't use the footswitch on the 35RT because I use the ME-80 effects and pedal to control most things tonal including EQ.

What I especially like about the 35RT is how pure the clean sounds are. It is much better than my Marshall or Crate amps. Opinions may differ but this user is a very happy camper. If my Orange amp was stolen or destroyed, I would instantly buy a new one.

And maybe a word about it being digital and not tube. This is a matter of little consequence to me since the tube emulations from both the amp and the ME-80 get me close enough to that sound without having to unload $ to get fragile tubes that end up having to be replaced anyways. I am practicing in my home... who cares? And if I were performing, I would gladly use the 35RT. It is a first class amp with great volume, distortion and sound.

And at the price point, I got the ME-80 basically for free with enough cash to get myself an Epi LP Modern to boot. Heck an Orange TH30H tube head with no speakers is $... Add another $ if you need the EZ34 rectifier tube instead of the effects tube. I don't think any of these tubes are really necessary. I am not a guitar God or electronic engineer. Most of the time I can't even hear the differences on comparison videos. So I am thrilled with the savings and quality of the 35RT.

BTW, The Epi LP Modern with its coil splits and phase control sounds wonderful with the 35RT. Flawless. These are my opinions and I stand by them.

Best Rock practice amp for the money

By JP Flores from Seattle, WA on June 25, 2021 Music Background: Semi-Pro

This is a really great amp for rock, blues, and Jazz. The clean channel can do anything from jazz to an ALMOST fender-like glass by scooping the mids. I find that having the gain dialed at about noon is great for a blues sound—just play with a single-coil neck pickup and it's incredible. Drive it a little more and you've got a great British rock tone.

If you're into Metal, you'll get a kind of doomy fuzz tone when you turn up the game past 2 o'clock. If you like playing Mastadon songs—it's awesome. If you like playing Prog metal, you'll probably hate this amp.

Really happy to have purchased this and the footswitch.

Orange Crush 35RT long term review

By Steve from Kentucky on June 18, 2021 Music Background: Years of guitar tone chasing

I've had this little beast for about 2 1/2 years now and can't live without it. Bought it as a practice amp as my other Oranges are of the larger variety. This amp is way more than just a practice amp. Orange has, in my humble opinion, the best analog solid state amps currently available. It gets real near the touch and guitar volume control responsiveness of a tube amp. It gets very loud as well. Can keep up in a band setting for jams and practices in a basement or garage setting no problem. I haven't had the first complaint the entire time I've owned it. A real workhorse. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone…and have many.

Excellence! This is the first amp I've purchased as a started for my electric guitar journey. As a newb, I'm blown away at the sound versatility I get from this orange box! Orange I glad I bought this?

By Dan from Miami on February 26, 2021 Music Background: 40 year guitar player

Wow! I bought this amp because I was in need of a new practice amp. More than lives up to its billing. Well-built, perfect size and way louder than the 35 watts would suggest. I was concerned that it would not be loud enough to play alongside acoustic drums in a jam session. That is not a problem. You can clearly hear the amp when playing along on the drums. I've always wanted an Orange amp and am glad I finally pulled the trigger. Both channels sound great. I particularly like the dirty channel. Your distortion levels can be minimal or cranked up to face melting levels dansaner and still feel thick and warm. It's great to have three tone knobs to help you dial in your perfect sound. Having a buffered effects loop is a serious plus. This is probably the best amp available in this price range especially considering all the features. Highly recommend it.

Awesome little amp

By P.S. from Greensburg Pa on February 8, 2021

you can't beat this amp for the price a real nice clean channel and the dirty channel rocks. I have 3 dirt pedals in the front going in the clean channel it's like having a 5 channel amp and delay and a boss reverb in the loop with stereo capability . Im having a lot of fun with this setup. It gets pretty loud also. Get the footswitch it completes the rig.

This amp rocks, nice clean channel and the dirty channel sounds awesome the reverb is good the tuner does a good job and the effects loop is a great feature. I hooked up a pedal board to it 3 dirt pedals in the front and a delay, a boss reverb that lets me run stereo if needed and some eq in the loop it's like having a 5 channel amp with multi affects. After 40 years of different rigs this is a great setup can't beat it for the price.

Blown Away

By Andy from Royal Oak, MI on January 17, 2021 Music Background: Rock, bass player, hobby studio owner

Just picked up one of these, and I am blown away. Super musical EQ with a ton of different tones that are available with the gain and reverb controls. Was a little worried it wasn't going to be loud enough, but in my basement with a drummer who plays at like 8 out of 10 all the time, we had NO issues hearing the amp. Even the clean channel was loud enough without distorting when playing with a 4 piece band. Really excited to track with this amp.

Best amp I’ve played.

By Tom D. from West Palm Beach, Fla. on November 16, 2020 Music Background: Intermediate guitar, played piano and clarinet.

This is the best amp I have. Great sound, cleans, crunch, reverb all great! Wish I had bought it sooner. Have to get used to the on/off switch being halfway down the back, but hey, it's a great amp. I have a Fender Blues Jr, Marshall DSL40, a Fender Princeton Reverb, and had a Boss Katana 59. This little amp is my favorite over all of them. If I could only have 1, this would be it. Not too big or heavy, has a headphone jack, even a built-in tuner.

the best amp i have ever owned

By zach Cornell from Idaho on October 14, 2020

at only $... this amp is a lifetime worth of money, I have never had a moment where I was disappointed with this amp because it simply has everything I need, the reverb sounds absolutely amazing and the built-in tuner works so great. I can achieve amazingly jazzy tones for my jazz gigs and almost seamlessly turn it into a rock machine with the built-in distortion. Keeping the gain at around 20%-30% gives you a great bluesy tone that blew me away the first time I heard it but turning it up to around 50%-100% can turn it into a rock machine that can rock an auditorium. I have never felt the need to turn up the volume on this past halfway because it is so incredibly loud I would 100% recommend this amp to anyone looking.

Great little amp

By Sweetwater Customer on August 31, 2020

The title says "little" but this thing packs some sound. I mainly jam in my apartment or with friends in a room, and this amp is plenty loud. I don't think my review will do the amp justice, but here's my thoughts. This was an upgrade from a Fender Mustang that I've had for years. Of course it has less effects than the Mustang, but it has a dedicated effects loop to add whatever. The effects loop, as well as an extra knob to control mids has been a game changer. Both the clean and dirty channels sound amazing to me. I haven't played around with the builtin reverb much yet, but it sounds ok. Overall, I love this amp and have no regrets.

I wanted a small size SS non-modeling amp and the Crush works for what I need.

The Crush 35RT is a very nice SS amp. Reverb is great, clean channel is blood w HB Guitars. Will try single coils today.
Used the built in tuner a couple of times and it is fairly accurate.

Orange- I'm Glad

By Adam from Michigan on August 17, 2020 Music Background: 15 year hobbyist

I made sure to wait until my speaker was nice and broken in before reviewing... Well the grill cloth is looking nice and vintage and loose as they do with all orange amps. Not a problem, just a sign of good use. And man, I would give this thing 10 Stars if I could. This thing is worth every penny. Plenty loud enough to jam with drums, I find myself bringing this to rehearsal over my AC15!!! Seriously. Granted there is a huge staircase to climb! Lol. This thing packs some serious punch. Reverb is pretty good, clean is awesome with good headroom and will crunch when dimed; and do I have to mention the overdrive? It sounds fricken sweet. Effects loop, onboard tuner. What else could you want?

Orange Really Crushes it!

Get Yo'self CRUSHED!

By Phil from California on July 10, 2020

There's not too much more to say above and beyond what's already been said. Great sound, versatile, great value, etc.

The digital tuner is better than I expected. I ran the Orange digital tuner, a Snark ST-2, and the Fender tuning app. All three agree to what constitutes "in tune". The Orange tuner has a slightly wider range of acceptability for "in tune", when compared to the other two. So it's not going to allow you to make intricate adjustments, but it does act as a great visual indicator. I'm sticking with the Snark for actual tuning, but all I have to do is glance at the Orange's panel to know when it's time to do so. Nice feature!

Great combo amp

By Elijah from TX on July 1, 2020

This is the biggest amp I own so to me it's perfect. To me, it is plenty loud and the built-in effects are good fun. The built-in tuner isn't perfect but it works well enough for getting set up quickly and conveniently. And I really love the orange finish. I was using a Fender acoustasonic 15 and it worked but this is much better. The Fender's only features were Microphone input and chorus effect. The Orange has aux input, reverb, a channel for square waves (dirty), and a channel for clean which the switch is pretty nice. To me, the tuner isn't really worth mentioning for accuracy since it is just 3 LED lights.

Sweet little amp

By Sweetwater Customer on May 25, 2020

This practice amp has beautiful sound and plenty of volume. The tuner gets you ready to play sooner and with the reverb and dirty channel, versatility is not compromised. Price is very fair.

Orange 35rt Super Happy

By Brent from Utah on May 18, 2020

I'm not a professional guitar player. I have several friends that are in local bands. When we get together to play they want to play through this amp.
It sounds amazing clean (better than Vox to my ear). You can also make this as muddy/distorted as you want. This takes pedals and effects easily. An amazing amp.
You can easily play the Ramones, the Stones, the Doors, Disturbed to Alter Bridge
Orange knocked it out of the park.
Phil Potts my engineer helped through the purchase process as well. Thanks Phil!

Great amp and awesome customer service

By Mauricio Sesma from Maryland on May 16, 2020 Music Background: Spinal Tap dvd

This amp does everything I need for an at home practice amp. It has that distinct fuzzy gravelly distortion that you hear with most orange amps. If you're looking for "tighter" distortion you might want to look into a distortion pedal (Revv g3 would be my choice). You can get smooth clean tones with the option to dial in the spring reverb. I usually have the gain cranked and I can barley turn the master volume past 2 ish (being in an apartment) so it gets plenty loud for what I use it for. Headphone jack is convenient for late night practice and sounds ok (it gets the job done). Does this sound like a tube amp? Not really, but for the money it's as good as you can get. Sweetwater has been fantastic thanks to Brian for providing great service and taking care of everything needed. Like the title says great amp and awesome customer service.

Orange you glad

By Adam from Grand rapids on April 25, 2020 Music Background: Hobbyist

Yes. I am. I wanted a solid state practice amp. Something good but small that won't piss off the girlfriend. So
Im looking at the little mini oranges, then I see for not much more money, I could afford this. This thing has all the range and plenty more. I've only begun to break it in and it sounds amazing. Perfect for jamming in the music room and sounds excellent for a solid state amp. Recommend!

Amazing

By Clifford Gardner from Gordo, AL on April 17, 2020 Music Background: Gigging Musician, Pop, Alt. Rock, Country, Classic Rock, Blues

Most of us struggle with the constant tradeoff between amazing gear that's a pain to transport & set up vs. smaller rigs that just don't have the sound quality or SPL to be considered viable for gigging. Recently, my el-cheap-o rehearsal amp died the same week my Mesa's tubes. I've never had an Orange amp, but for the price, I figured it would suffice for rehearsals. What a surprise! Tried it with an LP, SSS Strat, and a HSS Tele. Sounded great with all. Sound is awesome with no effects. I wouldn't be scared to show up to a gig with just this amp and my guitar. However, the clean channel is somewhat lacking in openness and tonal quality. The closed back cab prevents a jangly or bell-like tone. And it can't be EQ'd out from the amp. Improper EQ and it sounds muddy and boomy. At about 50% volume, the speaker starts to break up. It sounds absolutely amazing, but just know that you won't get a truly clean tone above 50%. More like a pleasant, glassy crunch. May be a major drawback for jazz players. It's impossible to get a bad sound out of the distortion channel. Regardless of the gain, EQ, or volume settings, this thing just sounds amazing. And it's British down to it's core. Folks who prefer a more American, open-back, or 6L6 tone will need to compensate with an outboard EQ. The closed back provides INSANE volume for its size. If a gig requires a volume level greater than what this amp can produce, you should probably be mic'ing anyway. I would say the volume is sufficient for any small to medium sized room with 100-200 people and probably good for any outdoor gig that isn't large enough to require mic'ing. The effects loop is super-quiet. I had an old ME-80 laying around and connected it through the effects loop and all the aforementioned issues were easily mitigated (except for the clean channel breakup at 50%). Easily got open-back cab-like sound with slight EQ tweaking on the outboard processor. Also dialed in a more American high-gain sound for when needed. I think this may be my new, go-to gigging amp. Very pleased.

Light weight heavy Rocker

By David Wagner from Oden, AR on March 23, 2020

This amp really surprized me. The clean channel is great, and the dirty channel cleans up with the guitar volume almost as well as a tube amp. It will get loud if needed. I used it for a couple of country gigs and some rock recording. It is small, lightweight and takes peddles well. For small gigs/practice/recording at this price point you can not go wrong.

5 star for what you get

By John from MA on December 29, 2019 Music Background: Bedroom and gigging guitar player

I use this as a practice amp at home. It’s perfect for that. I gig with tube amps but I wouldn’t be horribly disappointed if I needed to do a small gig with this amp, it can get loud. I like using at home though. The clean channel is good, a little sterile compared to tube amps but it’s perfect for at home. The dirty channel is a lot of fun, it has a big range from slightly overdriven blues tone to a heavy distortion. It sounds really good, the distortion can be a bit fizzy/fuzzy sounding but overall sounds very good and fun to play. The tuner, reverb, aux in, phone jack, and effects loop are excellent to have for an amp if this price. Overall I think this is a great sounding amp and has all the features you need for an amp without going completely overboard with effects and all that. For the price of this amp it’s an excellent choice, perfect for beginners to pros that are looking for good tones for practice and for gifting.

Superb Amp!

By Joe O from East Coast on November 30, 2019 Music Background: Bedroom Rock Star

I’m a tube amp guy but I bought this solid-state amp on a whim after reading all the hype. Within 10 minutes of plugging my SG into this amp I was sold! This is a really cool amp and capable of great hard rock tones and smooth clean tones. Takes effects very well. First Orange amp I’ve ever purchased and I couldn’t be more pleased with it! And the buffered effects loop is a plus!

I bought mine from the mighty fine folks right here! This is my absolutely favorite
Amp. Great British distortion and surprisingly good clean tones too! Can be lined
Out to p.a. through headphone which have simulated speaker sound built in. Great
For practice and small venues like my church. I actually don't plug in to the p.a.
At church and it's loud enough for rest of praise team. Not a modeling amp but
It is what it is. I will hopefully buying 60 watt next year. Thanks Sweetwater!

Got this as a Christmas gift. I thought it would be fun to have a little orange amp around, and thought it would look cool in my music room. I mean, c'mon 35W solid state...

I didn't really expect much, or plan on using it a lot.

I use this thing all the time. I love the tone.

AWESOME LITTLE AMP

By Elliott Kayne from Florida on August 18, 2019 Music Background: Working Musician

I bought this for its size and weight ... but I love it for its sound. I am a vintage tube guy, and play 2-4 gigs every week. I used to use a Fender Twin, but hurt my back lifting it into my truck. I switched to a Peavey but that was also large and bit too heavy. At 64 things are getting heavier. This was the perfect solution. I use an ME-80 pedal for my tones, and this amp mic'ed up thru the PA and it sounds and feels greats. I get a full range of tones from sparkling cleans jazz, searing blues, and heavy rock. I can do a 2 hand carry into my gigs. Its light, compact and awesome. I dont use the dirty channel at all, just clean with the EQ's all full. BUY IT!! SAVE YOUR BACK

Orange crush rt35

By Jeremy Bower from Chicago on July 2, 2019 Music Background: I practice on my les paul,it growls like a beast now lol

This amp has tight gain, not flubbery lows ,but has good lows, mids and highs.Your guitar nobs will be used alot more with this amp,the harder you pick, the more you get out of it,turn the guitars volume up high and natural break up happens. Its a impressive 35watt amp,Orange emailed me back when I asked about replacing the speaker,he said get one thats atleast 40watts rms ,so 80watts max watts. It has a 100watt chip for the amplifier so it should be a long lasting, under rated amp thats analog and is a different animal than big pc boarded digital solid state ,and the low impedance, fully buffered effects loop is a added plus. The tunner works good.Im truely impressed, not a modeling amp,its got just what a guitarist wants,2 stage volume that fattens the tone, and the 4 stages of gain are awesome for any type of music that needs a guitar .Im hooked,I have the orange bug

This is a killer amp. I knew it would totally rock out but I was amazed at how good the cleans are on this. I like the tone of both the dirty and clean channels. It"s not Marshall distortion or Fender clean but it"s a nice balance. Much louder than I expected. As always Sweetwater and my sales rep Ed delivered on time. Great product and great service.

im pretty sure I ordered the black one but the orange color will be okay wont make a fuss over it, maybe arik can throw me in an extra bag of candy next time. ..delivered by rocket from fedex .arrived in 2 days with candy

im done with tube amps and always having to tweak the circuits with bias etc ..decided to go with a SS and only Beethoven could tell the difference ..

only had the amp a few hours and already know its what I was looking for ..we will see later on at practice if it will play over a drummer but sounds like it should set in the mix long as the drummer is a quality drummer and not a banger ..i been using a orange cr20 with a 8 inch speaker and it was holding its own believe it or not ..orange makes great amps no doubt about it ..good cleans to take pedals and a fizzy/sizzly old school sunn type fuzz on the max gain so you can get any sound out of it you want

Nice Amp

By Sweetwater Customer from CA on January 11, 2019 Music Background: Lifelong amateur

This is a very responsive amp with a wide range of tone. The reverb is very smooth and resonate and easy to dial in. And it's loud, lightweight for all the features it has and very well made.

impressed

By Alex Domian from Pittsburgh on November 21, 2018

purchased for my son who is a beginner guitarist (he plays drums). While his band was practicing in the basement, he let his guitarist try out his new orange crush for a day. I was impressed with the loud tone from upstairs. Later asked him what kind of chain he was feeding into it....nothing...straight in...just turned up( they play hard rock/metal). I'm a tube tone guy for many reasons but, he wanted this one and for the genre, I can't argue with his choice. Nice price too. Headphone jack, tuner, aux in to play along with an iPod or his electric drums with a friend. Great practice deal

Awesome

By Sweetwater Customer on October 17, 2018

I won't get into my history of amps that I've owned other than..I've probably owned more than an individual should now in pretty much every price range. Was looking for something more portable, fully analog without a thousand bells and whistles, nice and classic sounding, and something that will sound great at any volume and not make you accidentally blow the doors off your house by nudging the master volume. This amp fit the bill on all fronts.

Sounds amazing for what it is, has that classic oldschool British sound, great clean channel, and surprisingly it's very versatile. The gain, when it's higher can be somewhat harsh but in a cool way. In other words, it sounds intentional. The only brownie points I have to take away from it is that it can sound pretty muddy on the neck pickup if you don't set it just right but that could also be simply because the speaker has not been broken in yet. Other than that though I love it and it takes pedals like a champ too. It's especially awesome if you throw an overdrive in front of it and then back off the gain. Don't take my word for it, go to your local guitar shop and give it a shot.

I've had this Amp since April of 2018. Having had time to work with it, I just Love this little Amp!! I've worked small and large Clubs with this Amp and it's never failed me or sounded bad. When in a large Club I mic it!! It WILL GET LOUD!! I play Blues and Classic Rock and it's perfect for either!! The BIG plus for me is it only weighs in at 25lbs. Easy IN and OUT!! Because this Amp has a closed back there is NO loss of bottom end and the Mids and Highs really cut through the Band even with a louder Drummer!! I couldn't be more happy with this Amp!! Again a BIG Thank You to my Rep Delvin Wolf and Sweetwater's Tech Dept. And I'll say it again, Sweetwater is the ONLY place to purchase Great Gear!! Thanks Again Sweetwater!!!

Amazing Amp

By Jim from Missouri on April 12, 2018

I have this amp and was blown away with the tone and output that it has. I've never owned an Orange amp before and man have i been missing out. I've had a classic 30 peavey and other tube amps including a Laney 100w tube. All great and wonderful but they are so much more expensive and so heavy to move around to play. Honestly this amp proves that you don't have to break the bank and throw out your back to get a great sounding amp. Love the tuner on the amp and the reverb sounds great too. Would highly recommend this amp to anyone that is looking for one that can honestly get as loud as you need and still be able to practice at home and be able to move easy.

Continues to Amaze

By Andy from Austin, TX on March 18, 2018

I"ve had this amp for 3 months and I"ve played out at loud bars and big warehouse venues several times. I"ve NEVER played a more powerful 35 watt solid state amp. I"ve never needed to mic the amp or hook it up to a PA system even at some of the larger gigs I"ve played. This thing has POWER. also, the tone is incredible. I never turn the gain past 2-o"clock because this thing gets waaay heavy. The headphone jack makes this a killer practice amp too. If you can"t spend the money on a tube amp this is the only solution.

This thing rocks!

By Dane from Philly on March 13, 2018

This amp is amazing. Really nice clean tones and takes pedals well. I'm not overly fond of the dirty channel, but my tube screamer on the clean channel gives me exactly what I want. It's loud too. I don't see having to turn it past noon in small venues. I didn't expect that much from a 10" speaker, but I'm impressed. The tone doesn't suffer at all through the headphone jack either.

I was aware of Orange for a long time but only recently decided to pull the trigger and man.. this amp KILLS! I was able to dial in the tone I wanted almost immediately and it tracked better than I could have hoped. This amp really saved my recording. If you're even considering this amp, don't hesitate.

I really like this amp. My expectations were exceeded and I love it. This is a quality amp with great sound and can see the craftsmanship is awesome for the price. I purchased it cause the Hot Rod 2 x 12 is heavy to transport. One thing I noticed is you can walk up to it at guitar level and face it without feedback. It's not a tube amp but awesome, lol.

This is my first review, just had to do it! I've been looking for a small portable amp for 3 years now, bought and sold 6 I think, and now really feel I have found the perfect one for me. The tone is just what I have been looking for, very tube sounding and sharp, Marshall but better.

Sounds awesome already and speaker is not even broke in yet!

Orange and my TONE

By Brett Huhn from Columbia, MD on September 22, 2017

I bought the from the Sweetwater "Candy Shop" and was new with Guitars and such. I have been playing for just over a Year since retiring. I have tried Modeling and Tube Amps and was about to pull the trigger on a Very expensive Tube Amp and really started to move the dials and gizmos around on this thing after playing a tube amp in the store. I'm getting the SAME tones out of my Orange as I was with the Tube Amp. It is truly all in your hands. The Orange is NO maintenance. The speaker in it is FANTASTIC! I have tried many amps and have found no equal. IT is not a fancy modeler. It just puts out great sound. I run it low output as I have neighbors in my apartment community. When they are all gone, I crank it and I must say, Im not getting another AMP for a LONG time as this thing is a part of my playing like no other. Let my purist friends say all they want. I spend my money on cool effects pedals that I put in my effects loop and this Orange has a GREAT Effects Loop. Most of the time, I think, people get sick of micro managing their Amps and get a new one out of boredom. Not me. IMHO, this amp is ALL you need to get YOUR tone the way YOU want it.

Awesome little amp!

By LeadDawg from Texas on June 5, 2017 Music Background: Steadily gigging for 45 years...

Orange Crush 35rt: small but powerful, loud and articulate, affordable, VERY tubular, sparkly cleans to ridiculous high gains and everything in between, headphone out for silent practice or recording. Plug and play rig, we mic everything so I use mine as a kickback monitor for gigging.
I have had solid state amps and now have several (heavy) tube amps (Marshall, Peavey, Laney) but wanted a reliable solid state amp that was light and served my craving for the tube sound. A guitarist that I heard live in the 70's had an Orange rig and that sound was permanently etched in my ears. That was the sound I have searched for and never found until now. I couldn't be happier with this little jewel.
Listen to all the online demos then get you one, you won't be disappointed!

The first time I saw an Orange Amp was at a music store in St.Paul, MN back in '06 before I deployed. I never heard of the brand or even heard it played, but I knew that one day I would have one, it truly was love at first sight. Flashforward to 2015 and the Crush 35RT is released and I knew that was the one for me. Now In 2017 I've finally bought one, better late than never. At the time of writing this I've only had it for a weekend and I have barely had any sleep! This is such a beautiful amp inside and out, I'll never have any amp that isn't made by Orange ever again.

Shipped and arrived very fast. Matt helped out with a multi part deal and it was appreciated. This Amp sounds like a Tube Amp. It has an earphone jack that is modeled after a 4 X 12 Cab and keeps me out of trouble with my neighbors. Handles pedals well and is great at low volume. I feel like a rockstar when playing Dirty! I hope it lasts a long time. The extra year of warranty extension gives me "peace of mind". I hope I don't need to use that.

Outstanding but...

By bryan kilpatrick from Georgia on April 3, 2017 Music Background: I play in a band.

OK I still gave this amp a 5 because it is the best small amp that I have ever owned. Straight, the sounds are amazing for a single speaker 35 watt unit. However, the sound it creates when running through a PA direct through the headphone jack is unbelievable! It almost sounds as good as my Blackstar HT 50 full stack, no joke. I use this amp for most gigs in clubs that can run it direct, I hate lugging around heavy amps.

Now the bad. The power cord that came with the unit fell out constantly while playing at high volume. I found an old computer power cord that had a slightly larger end and it works great. The other thing that really ______ __ me off it the fact that the power button is in the center of the back of the amp...WTF! So to turn it on and off you have to lean the thing forward till it almost falls over to flip it on and off. I know they did id so the switch would be close to the voltage switch, but it is a real pain in the butt, the switch should be on top with the rest of the controls.

Transparent Sound

By Patrick from Santa Fe, NM on March 29, 2017 Music Background: Performer, Song Writer, Sound Engineer

Seems odd to call this amp transparent - but the soul of your guitar will shine through this amp. The personalities of your different guitars come thru clear as a bell. A lot of amps sound like their brand - Marshalls have a sound, Fenders have a sound, et al that color the sound of your guitar thru their brand's sound filter. This amp can do that as well (if you crank up the gain on the dirty channel you get a very Orange sound) but if you leave the gain lower on the dirty channel or play thru the clean channel this amp imparts almost nothing to the guitar's individual voice - just warms it up and makes it sing. I am blown away with how good and unique each one of my guitars sounds thru this amp. If you have a guitar with a unique voice to create with this is your amp at a price point that is totally ridiculous. Gibsons are big and round, Fenders twang and sparkle, Gretsches howl and bark. Best value amp, ever?

Unbelievable amp!

By Bryan from Atlanta on March 9, 2017 Music Background: Gigging guitar, sing, harp

What I have read and all the videos that I have seen do not do this amp justice. I normally play through a Blackstar Club 50 full stack so I am used to fantastic sound. So when I say the Orange RT is one of the best amps I have ever used you can take my word.

There is one very big problem with the unit and that is the power cord. It is a removable cord so it plugs in and out of the back of the amp. The problem is that the cord part is too small to stay plugged into the amp part. As you play it come loose and falls out, no joke. However, I love this amp so much I would just epoxy it in so that it would never fall out. But...I found an old computer power cord and it was just big enough to do the trick.

There is a tag on my amp showing 2 inspectors signed off on the operation and quality, it looks like they need to raise the bar a bit or do some additional training!

Great amp for small spaces

By Brian on April 27, 2016

I have a relatively small space to play - a basement room of about 15x12 with low ceilings. I could't get the tone I wanted out of my tube amp (Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III) without making my ears bleed, and another amp a friend had suggested (Roland Cube 30) was adequate, but certainly not capable of mesmerizing tone (at least, not from the many variations I tried). I called Sweetwater for advice, and they recommended this amp (Orange Crush 35RT).

The difference between the tone I get from this amp and the Cube 30 is night and day. I get really good tone at the lowest volumes, and great tone when I turn it up a bit (but still not so much I'll wake the wife and kids at night). And the amp has plenty left to go. Amazing sound from a solid state amp!

Ian at Sweetwater recommended I pair the the 35RT with a Boss ME-80, and run that pedal board through the amp's clean channel to get the sound I was after, and it was literally the single best thing I've ever done to improve my sound. That said, the 35RT has plenty of juice to do what I wanted without the pedal board, but I wanted to add a variety of sounds with the convenience of pedals. They're definitely not necessary.

Bottom line: This amp has far better tone than you'd expect out of a solid state and much bigger sound than you'd expect out of its small footprint. A perfect amp for in the house, and I'm certain it could hold its own for small gigs (though I'm more of a hobbyist, so I can't attest to that).

Highly recommended for anyone trying to get great tone at lower volumes!

Yes I gig with it.

I'm a tube amp guy. Ive owned and played Marshalls, Fender , Laney, Ampeg, Etc. I currently own a PTP Bandmaster head that I built myself. I bought one of these for rehearsals for the bands I belong to. the Folsom Prison Gang Johnny Cash Tribute and the Flying Saucers Oldies Band.
The 35 RT takes pedals well and sounds good at any volume, it has more gain on tap than I would ever use and I love the digital reverb. We play a lot of festivals on portable stages, and while it's no spring reverb I don't get the spring rattles and crashes if someone jumps around a bit during the show.
It did so well in rehearsals that I took it out for a gig. Never had to take the volume past 11 o'clock on the clean channel. I use a NuNu Devices Tweddy Bird Boost Overdrive on some of our rockabilly tunes to get that edge of break tone. I have used it in an outdoor gig mixed up of course without feeding it back through the monitors. The amp faces across the stages angles about 15 degrees towards the drummer and it sits on the floor. Our other guitarists uses a Deluxe Reverb. It has no problem keeping up with him or the drummer. it's unreal how light it is, and I have got many complements on my tone. if it continues to prove reliable I will buy another one for back up. it sounds and responds better than some tube amps I've played and not as good as others, but for this price it's a real sleeper.

Insane!!!!

By Dylan Wells on March 9, 2016 Music Background: Live Sound Tech/ Instrument Player

This small light-weight amp is a powerful machine! It has a crazy amount of gain, but not mushy, it is very clear! If this amp were to break, I would by this again! I love the built in tuner and reverb, its great for when you are done from your gig and want to take the amp back to your room without pedals. The effects loop works like a charm! I have never had an amp that had a very clear and clean effects loop before! Its a great amp overall so you should buy it if you are looking for a new amp with tons of gain or clean! The service was amazing!

Great Amp!!!!

I already own the 20rt and love it...but I like the 35rt a bit better. This 35rt has better overall tone and presence with the 10" speaker and extra 15 watts. I bought this for my son to replace his Fender Mustang I. Glad I did! The sound, the many features, at this price?! Unbelievable! Orange and Sweetwater have a fan for life! Whether you're going into the store, or buying online, make it Sweetwater! They are the absolute best I've seen. They call you to make sure you are satisfied! Can't say enough about Sweetwater. A solid state amp that has the warmth of a tube amp at this price with all these features? Get one! You will not be disappointed!

True Blue Orange

By Billy Reiter from Thornville, Ohio on February 15, 2016

As a former tube amp snob, this amp has reformed me. The clean channel breaks up like a tube amp and the overdrive channel goes from buttery blues rock to melt your face grunge. I like the CabSim circuit, the built in tuner, and the reverb. Everything about this amp and the value it is has left the cover on the heavy, hernia inducing tube amp. I bought the footswitch as well and glad I did. Thanks to Bob Mondok and Sweetwater for offering so many quality products and incredible values.

By ChrisD. from Idaho on December 24, 2015 Music Background: Retired Pro

Very Nice Clean Tone...Fat sounding for a 10in speaker. I would've thought it was a 12in
The Reverb isn't a Dick Dale surf reverb but its plenty..
The Dirty channel has a lot of adjustability ..I could make it sound like the clean channel and add gain to your taste....Sweet
Tuner seems to work fine..
Light weight
I couldn't turn it up because I live in an Apt. but someday :)... but it can get loud...
I haven't tried the cabsim circuit or effects loop but I have no worries...
I've wanted an Orange amp for a long time but could never quite pull the plug on one until now...
I wish I would've years ago it would've saved me from gong through so many amps in search of my Tone..

Great Amplifier!

By Sweetwater Customer on November 25, 2015

First of all, impeccable Sweetwater customer service. Thanks, Sweetwater. It's hard to describe the tone/sound quality of this amp. I'd say it's "organic" . Very clean when you want it to be, and, exquisitely dirty on other occasions without sounding "manufactured" or "digital". Don't let it's size fool you. It's very capable and booms with loudness. Read the specs. Best amp I've ever owned. It comes in black or orange. I got it in orange of course. duh :)

Impressive Little Amp

By Steve from Moultrie, GA on September 16, 2015

I can't remember hearing a small amp that is solid state in this price range that has the sound that this one does. It has the sound of a tube amp...maybe not that of a Mesa Boogie that costs 5 or 6 times more, but all the same, in this price range I've not heard anything like it. It has big volume and sound for a little amp. With no pedals hooked up, it has both great clean sound and a great rock and roll overdrive that nothing else I own has and we have been quite fond of our little Marshall. I haven't done much experimenting with it, but my son has been playing an Ibanez ARZ800 through it and that particular guitar has taken on a whole new life through this amp. I was going to sell that particular guitar, but with the addition of this amp that guitar has become one that's a keeper. This is the first Orange I have purchased, but I highly doubt it will be the last. For somebody who is on a budget that wants a fantastic sound and enough volume to wake the neighbors, this is a fantastic choice. Don't let the relatively small size fool you. The small size does make it fabulous to carry and go also. I bought it based on other reviews and I'm glad I took the time to read them. Almost every one of those people were just as impressed as myself.

AMAZING!!

Just got this amp today, and I can't walk away from it!! I'm only pausing long enough to write this review, and I'm heading back. It is so simple to use, but amazing sound quality. The CabSim feature is flat out awesome. I almost prefer to play with the phones plugged in, and I'm sure the neighbors feel the same way. They have been listing to "Sweet Emotion" all afternoon!!
And thanks to my Sales Engineer Ed for hooking me up. Sweetwater Rocks!!

Incredible amp ! This amp has great tone no matter the volume. Great practice amp. I returned a. Fender. Mustang for this and glad I did.

This is one awesome amp!

By Jeremy Wright from Cuba, AL on July 26, 2015

I bought this amp on a whim after my old Peavy died on me and was blown away by how great the sound was. My old Peavy never even came close to what this thing sounds like! The clean channel was bight and crisp and the dirty channel has some awesome bite to it but not the type of bite that will make your ears bleed. It's more like a mellow tube distortion that just feels right. Another reviewer said it was the tubyest solid state amp you'll ever hear. He hit it right on the money!

The only thing I had to complain about was that there was no master volume, but I solved this problem by buying a cheap Behringer volume pedal and plugging it in last in my FX loop. Now I can find my the perfect tone and turn it up in down without loosing any of the tone.

I read several people who say this is a great practice amp, but I have to say it works awesome every Sunday at my church. This amp will put out and if it ever starts to get covered up a simple mic will fix that issue. Lately we have been running the amp through our sound system using and a Art Tube MP running from the headphone out straight to the PA just so the musicians on the other side of the stage can hear it though their monitors. I was a bit scared that it would hurt the tone, but it did not. I still sounds awesome and it even helps the amp blend better with all the other instruments.

This is one great amp! If you've got the money, just stop what you are doing and buy it. You will love it the second you plug it in!

HUGE sound from a little orange box...

By Brandon from Tobaccoville, N.C. on July 15, 2015 Music Background: 25+ years of tinkering

I have been playing with this thing for almost two weeks now. I still have a big stupid grin on my face. I'm amazed at the tones that come out of this amp. Amazingly tube-like response from a solid state. The clean channel has a nice full bodied sound and breaks up when you crank it. Responds to pick attack and fingers in a pleasing way. Dial in some reverb with some single coils and you may be surprised. As good as the clean is, the dirty channel is where this amp shines. This is an ideal amp for the player that works their volume knob. You can set the gain fairly high and back off of the volume and get all shades in between. You might not even need to switch back and forth between channels but you certainly can with a footswitch if needed. From bluesy breakup, to AC/DC, to Van Halen, to Slipknot, it's all in there, with minimal tweaking. I like the gain between 12:00 - 2:00. From 3:00 and beyond you get into super thick gain like a molten rubber band if that makes any sense( Think Melvins, old C.O.C., etc.) You can jam out some Sleep riffs at a safe volume if wanted. If you like really tight riffing throw an overdrive/boost up front to tighten things up. The tuner is a nice feature and tracks well. The effects loop is outstanding. This is a great grab n go. Also this thing is LOUD and punchy for a 35watt 1x10 combo. The closed back is awesome and gives it great projection. You could probably do a small gig with it (depending on your drummer) and I'm sure you'd be fine mic'ed up. It's lightweight but feels solid and durable and the Orange aesthetics are cool. I apologize for the novel but this thing really is that good and a tremendous value. Would loved to have had this starting out as a kid. This is my first Orange but certainly won't be my last. (I'm looking at the CR120H now) Hope this helps and best of luck to you all. \m/

First, I must state that Sweetwater's customer service is beyond fantastic! These guys know their stuff and how to speak to customers.

The amp, which was a graduation gift for my 13 year old son, arrived in a good amount of time, and right on time. The sounds from this amp are very good, the volume is great as well. The product description says it all. I highly recommend this amp for smaller venues, especially if they have a PA. This is more than just a practice amp as my son is having a very hard time keeping it at low levels. He is having to use headphones to practice. Which is a good and bad thing, good that he isn't keeping me awake during late night jams, bad that now I have to scream ten time louder to get his attention.

Momma bought me this amp to QUIET me down. I have a lot of very nice amps, peavey ultra tube, and a classic chorus. a randall rg1503. all great sounding amps, very loud and big. I have owned several small amps over the years, fenders, kustom, crate. hated them all. sounded boxy and just small. when this Orange crush 35rt showed up . it looked nice, classy kind of. I put it through a test session. it's been going on for a week now. Holy s***zkie! I cant believe how good this amp sounds. No farting speaker, no unwanted distortion. clean is clean. tight bass and chimey highs. 3 band eq great for tone shaping. nice dirt with dirty channel. The best sounding little amp I have ever played through. all my guitars sound great with this amp. whether single coils, humbuckers or p90's. sounds great just quieter. Thanks Momma & sweetwater.

I had been researching this amplifier for a month or two. I got it to replace my Crate 212, which is plenty loud, but way too heavy. So I wanted something compact, easy to carry and loud. The Crush 35RT blew me away at how well it kept up with a Mic. Most places I play at are 300 people maximum capacity. I recommend this amp to any one looking for a mid powered practice/gig amp.

Crushingly Good Amp!

By Matt from Greenwood, Missouri on April 28, 2015 Music Background: Hobbyist, Occassional Band member with 36 years playing

I have two expensive and remarkable tube amps but needed, (ok, wanted), an amp I could use for practice and grab and go situations. I am not a fan of digital amps, which is just my personal preference but I did have a very nice little Vox Pathfinder 15r a while ago that was pretty amazing. It was constantly mistaken for a small tube amp do to the great tone and big sound it produced.

So I started looking around a few weeks ago to see what was currently available. Much to my dismay there are not a lot if any options available in the way of stripped down transistor amps. Everything seems to be some sort of digital modeling type; I was really beginning to miss my Pathfinder.

It was not long before the Crush 35RT popped on my radar. The two video reviews on the Sweetwater website were excellent and backed up by another stellar review from a Chap on the other side of the pond convinced me to pull the trigger. I contacted my sales rep Andrew Plassman who after answering some questions took care of all the details of my purchase flawlessly. It is always a pleasure doing business with Sweetwater.

I have had the amp for about a week now and have not even plugged into either of my tube amps. This little amp is a monster! The clean channel is fantastic, sounding especially tasty when using my Soulfood and the 3 band EQ is very effective in further shaping my tone. The reverb is surprisingly lush, not splashy. The drive channel is pure Orange, huge tones that have no business coming from such a small amp. Both my Tele and Les Paul sound amazing and I would be very comfortable using this amp for rehearsals and small gig situation. Add to all this the headphone output, aux input to jam along with Mp3’s and built in tuner, I could not be happier. We tube junkies salute you Orange, you hit this one out of the park.

What a GEM

By steve on April 21, 2015

I was in the market for a small analogue AMP with NO bulit in Digital effects, it was also a must to have an FX loop, knowing very little about orange AMP's apart from only hearing good things from many people.

I decided just to take a peak (and glad I did!) at what analogue AMP's orange had to offer, didn't really expect to find anything in my price range if im honest.

then I noticed the Crush 35RT no digital effects (well apart from the reverb) and has an FX loop! thing that was shocking me the most was the Price? I then thought hmm maybe orange have made a cheap cut back budget amp?

how wrong was I? all I can say is this amp is by far better than anything else I listened to in the same price range, it blows away the fender Mustang IV on sound quality with ease, made the Line 6 range sound like kids toys, build quality is solid the finish looks grate, I cant find anything bad to say about his amp, although I have only owned it for just over a week, but I can tell already, I will be keeping this for a long time to come.

This is my first Orange Amp and if this is what Orange gives you in this price range, I will definitely be looking at there higher end Amp's for future purchases.

100% worth checking out if you want a Top Quality practice amp with FX loop and the Cab sim is brill once connected to my yamaha MG16XU mixer, this amp is very very versatile.

best purchase i have made in years!

Great Amp!!!

By Don from United States on March 24, 2015

Only had this amp a couple of days now so far i'm really liking this amp. Looks good and seems well made not cheap looking or feeling has some weight to it but not too heavy. The clean channel sounds very good. The dirty channel also sounds good and one thing i like is that u can hear the different notes ring out with some distortion while playing different chords. The controls are very responsive to me. I'm a bedroom player so its kinda on the loud side but sounds great at low volumes doesn't seem to change the tone when you turn it down. The tuner seems to work well. The speaker is only 10" but sounds really good. The only complaint i have about the amp so far is the headphone out(cabsim) on the dirty channel seems harsh sounding way too much treble mid and bass you will have to turn them way down almost all way down to get the headphone out to sound good but i have messed with it and have gotten a better sound out the headphone jack. It seems to takes pedals well. This is my first Orange product and i'm very impressed with this amp. If your looking at this amp you should definitely check it out.

I wanted something to keep at home and practice at lower volumes. I like that old school tube-blues sound with reverb, but I did not want a real loud tube amp for personal playing.
THIS amp was perfect.
Plenty loud and beyond. Great clean-bluesy sound. The reverb and gain is very good for a non tube combo. The distortion is just right.
Well made, looks great, and sounds amazing.

I had read the reviews on the 35RT and figured I'd give it a try. First off, the clean channel is about as clear and crisp as any amp I have used and will "naturally distort" but where it really shines is on the on the dirty channel. No need for OD peddle or fuzz, this combo will give you what you are looking for.

By Sweetwater Customer from TN on July 8, 2017

This amp is awesome. I bought it as a practice amp mostly for home use, but I've brought it to band practice several times just because I love the sound of it. Even though it's small, it's plenty loud enough to hear over a band. The tuner works as expected and is a nice touch. The reverb is also quite nice. Clean channel has that tube-like breakup once you get about halfway on the volume or so, which is great. The dirty channel is excellent. Can get so much variety with the gain in this little beast. It handles pedals well for the most part, but the lows seem to drop a bit. It could just be me or my pedals, but that's the only weird thing I could find. It's also great to look at and built solidly. Definitely recommend this amp.

Needed to replace an old crate practice amp I've had for years (maybe 20?). Heard some good things about Orange so I went with it. This amp is awesome, I'm really surprised at how well it responds to pick attack. The 4 stage gain is superb. It gets dirtier but never loses the tone. You can still hear every note! the volume is a bit surprising. Actually using it at rehearsal. As long as you have a small space (as we do) it will hang with the band. All the controls are responsive, many different sounds can be had with a few tweaks. I'm definitely looking to Orange for other models to support live gigs. Great product, good price, what's not to like?

Great Little Amp

By Michael L from Mississippi on June 20, 2023 Music Background: 50 years of different kinds of music

Most of my amps are vintage tube amps, but, I have to say, this little amp sounds really good for solid state. It surprised me how warm it sounded and how much punch it had with 1 X 10 in it. I would like to see it loaded with a 1 X 12, but, at this price point, you can't get much better. I read several reviews that said it wasn't loud enough to seriously gig with? I have to disagree with that. And, if you are playing a venue that is that large you can certainly mic this little guy…stage volume doesn't need to be what it was 50 years ago. I have no complaints with it. Very satisfied.

Good Amp for Silent Practice

By Donald Bajner from Park Ridge, IL on January 17, 2022

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a tube amp snob. That said, I was in need of a solid state amp for silent practice. I needed an amp that offered decent dirty tone with Aux In and headphones out. This amp offered everything that I needed. So, I dialed in a fairly decent dirty tone (for a solid state) with my single coil and humbucker-equipped guitars. I then proceeded to plug in the headphones and a guitar trainer unit.

After setting the overall headphone volume and guitar-to-playback mix levels, the guitar sounded nothing like it did just playing through the amp's speaker. So, I had to completely alter the gain, high, mid and low settings for headphones output. The bottom line is that I find that I have to maintain two completely different tone settings for speaker versus headphone output. This is a bit surprising and somewhat annoying.

I was using a Fender Mustang IV prior to this for silent practice. But, the Fender was just way too much amp (2x12, 150 Watt combo) for silent practice. However, the Fender tone sounded similar between speaker and headphones. I have a couple more weeks to decide if I'm going to keep the Orange amp. The fact that the tone changes drastically between speaker and headphones may be a deal breaker.

This is a great amp!

By Keith Leppanen from MN on March 27, 2021 Music Background: I play alone.

I have been playing since 08. I play only alone in my house. I needed an amp I could play without disturbing everyone else in the house, since everyone was always home due to the covid. I never got to crank up the 3 small tube amps I love. My Orange curiosity and the fact this had cabinet simulation to a headphone jack, and the ability to line in with music to play with. I first got the 20rt and love it, and I added the 35rt and love it. Both sound great thru the speaker or headphones. They are more in your face than my other amps. I don't know if this is a feature of closed cabinets, as the others are open back. I am hooked on the sound of these amps. They don't react to my pedals quite the same as my tube amps. I really find all I need without them. The reverb is great. I can dial up Sultans of Swing on the clean, and find all the rock sounds I need on the dirty channel. I can have great headphone sound silently while everyone is asleep! I hope you love it!

Awesome amp.

I love this amp so far. A very clear and crisp sound. I mostly use the clean channel with a Fendder strat. I play a rhythm style similar to Buddy Holly and get a sound for my solo act that is almost perfect for my show. The only reason I don't give a perfect score is the digital reverb. It's not as crisp as the rest of the amp.

Solid State/Solid Tone

By Masshole from Massachusetts on July 1, 2017

Nothing bad to say! The clean is perfect! The overdrive, goes from subtle to screaming almost fuzz and everywhere in between! The only thing I would suggest is including a for switch for channel switching and reverb!

A versatile combo

By Sam on June 9, 2017 Music Background: hobbyist

I was in the market for a small combo amp to play at home and this amp definitely fit the bill. I was tired of the over complicated digital amps out there and wanted something simple. While I would love one of the more expensive Orange tube amps, it would be wasted on a bedroom player. This amp is more than enough and even responds to your picking dynamics like a tube amp. But since it's a solid state, it's cheaper, reliable and low maintenance. The amp is almost entirely analog minus the digital reverb. The clean channel is decent but nothing worth noting. It has a slightly dark, warm tone. You won't find the shimmery clean Fender or Vox tone here. The distortion channel sounds great. You can get slightly overdriven tones up to fuzzy hi gain sounds. Orange amps, in my opinion, are voiced a bit darker than other amps so you may have to adjust the 3-band EQ instead of leaving everything at noon. The built in tuner works great and the reverb is adequate. The fully buffered effects loop works just fine as well. My main gripes are that this amp could use a 12 inch speaker with an open back instead of the 10 with the closed back. I think that would improve this amp quite a bit. However, if you want that bigger speaker and independent EQs for both channels, you'll have to get the CR60 or CR120. The crush series has come a long way. I had one of the old Crush PIX amps and I got rid of it within a week of owning it. With the new crush series they upgraded the speaker to a Voice of the World speaker and used the circuitry from the crush pro series. This has helped tremendously. Considering the price, this amp is excellent.

Doesn't get any better for the price...

By Anthony from Michigan on December 16, 2016

First, the amp seems to be very well built - much better than I expected from an amp in this price range. While it certainly would better if it was made of plywood, it is made of fiberboard/particleboard. However, judging by the weight, I would say it is made of high density fiberboard, but don't quote me on that (as apposed to medium density, which most home hifi speakers are made of). Knocking on the side of the cabinet gives a solid knock instead of a hollow sound (this is always a good sign for a cabinet).

The clean sounds are fantastic and the reverb is more than decent for an amp in this price range.

The drive channel sounds good up to a certain point, but then it kind of turns to mush (at about 8 3/4 and higher). I didn't really expect to get great high-gain sounds from it though, so this wasn't a disappointment. Lower gain bluesy type stuff sounds great though. I haven't used it with pedals yet so I can't comment on how it takes them.

I haven't had a chance to really push it yet (as I live in an apartment) but it appears to have the ability to get a good bit louder than I expected (wow).

The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't play through it for very long on the drive channel. I seem to get listening fatigue from it. This is probably because I'm so used to listening to tube amps, but after about an hour or so I can't seem to focus on the sound; it's like I get incredibly bored suddenly. With my other amps I can play for hours on end with no such effect. That isn't a knock to this particular amp, though, as I'm quite certain that any solid state amp under 2 or 3 times the price would have the same effect.

I actually got this with the intention of installing a speaker jack and toggle switch so I can use it as a 1x10 cabinet with a lunchbox head, and for that purpose, I couldn't be happier (the only requirement for that was a high quality cabinet). I got an entire amp instead of just a cabinet because I figured sometimes I just want to grab my guitar and an amp and go, and it was only $ more than the only 1x10 cabinet I could find.

With that said, I swapped the speaker out with a Celestion Alnico Gold and other than the Gold not being as harsh (not that the Orange speaker is harsh compared to other ceramic magnet guitar speakers) and having a bigger bottom end, there wasn't that much of a difference in the overall character of the speaker. At this price point, that's pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

The cabinet emulation seems to work very well also. This is the first time I have played guitar through headphones without being incredibly annoyed, so that's a bonus.

Overall, out of all the 1x10 solid state practice amps I have heard, this one definitely takes the cake.

Orange crush 35RT

Great little amp for small gigs. Nicely constructed. Would like a little more umph on the reverb.

Orange Crush 35RT Combo

By Rick Hill from Salem, Oh. on April 10, 2018 Music Background: 53yrs. Touring/Studio/Local Pro Musician

Received my Crush 35RT about a week ago and had to return it. Amp was definitely a Returned Item. Amp didn't power on for at least 4 to 5 minutes and had marks on the unit. Box had been opened and resealed with other than Orange Packing Tape. Equalizer was way off, a big swing from channel to channel. Sweetwater was very on the ball and the Tech Dept. walked me through some things on the phone then shipped me out another Amp (NEW) that day. I received it the next day and FEDEX took the defective Amp back with them. The New Amp works Great! There's still a little Equalization difference between channels but I guess that's to be expected with shared EQ. CLEAN Channel can be Sweet or Chimy if you choose. DIRTY Channel can get a little Crunch or WAY OVERDRIVEN depending on your style and how you set the Equalizer. Be careful, it can get FUZZY if you run too much Treble and Mids on the DIRTY Channel but that can be dialed out. The Amp carries a lot of Low End even with the 10" Speaker, I was surprised!! In general I really like the Amp. Very light and portable. Very Gigable for smaller and medium sized Venues. *Caution with the Orange FS-1 Footswitch. It works BACKWARDS from all others I've used. Light is ON when on the CLEAN Channel and OFF on the DIRTY Channel. Orange tells me it's because the Footswitch was designed to be used with their Tube Amps but can be used with the Crush and Crush Pro Series. It's something you just have to get use to. Again very happy with the Amp and Delvin Wolf's assistance in recommending the Amp. Also Great response and Assistance from Sweetwater Tech Support!! Thank You Sweetwater, keep up the Good Work!! There's No comparison with other ON-Line Stores. You ARE the BEST!!

Good for the money

By Michael from Lynchburg, VA on August 9, 2017

First the bad:

Sound is dark - almost muddy/muffled. As if you were playing trough a fantastic amp, only that amp was downstairs, wrapped in a sleeping bag, and loud enough for you to hear without shaking the entire house.

Aux input is all but unusable without headphones on - the sound is that dark and colored. Sound through the headphones is normal and what you'd expect.

The good:

It's cheap and very loud.

Dirt sound is good - a little buzzy if the gain isn't properly managed but very workable - classic Orange'ish sound.

For jamming in the house w/ headphones on, using aux input it's pretty hard to beat. Then throw it in the car and take it to a buddies house to jam, or play it on the deck, etc... It's a very functional and usable amp (if you like/tolerate the dark tone), and a good price point that won't have you worrying about what happens to it.

Orange Crush 35RT - good but dark and sometimes harsh

By Sweetwater Customer from TN on November 16, 2022

I recently picked up an Orange Crush 35RT for rehearsals, and I'm comparing this to a couple of nice tube amps (deluxe reverb with a darker speaker and a small class A amp from '67). I don't expect the same from this, and it is surprisingly responsive to pick attack. The sound can be a little dark and at the same time can be harsh when using the clean channel. I have used it with a band for only a few rehearsals so far, but the power is more than plenty for this. When really cranked up with P90s or single coils in a guitar, the amp can be a little noisy, but no more than a tube amp would be. I also noticed some chords can vanish in the context of a band like solid state amps sometimes do. It's a good deal for the money.

Nope

By Spence on February 9, 2022 Music Background: Gigging musician

Very harsh distortion. Clean channel is pretty good. Played a variety of guitars through it. Strats, Led Pauls, Teles, PRS, G&L. I was using it at my bands rehearsal space because I didn't want to move my main amp back and forth. Thought it would be suitable. Finally after two years I am going to sell it. I'll stick with my Fenders and my Marshall combo.

Just ok

By Donald Lessnau from MICHIGAN on January 30, 2018

Not bad. Good first amp for beginners or practice amp. Good clean tones and simple features. But very limited sound range and thin on the bass side. Certainly can't compare to my Fender Blues Junior or Champ 40 for depth and tone. But it's a good practice amp, especially for the price point.
