Small amps
Adequate for self use
I take this thing everywhere !
It's pretty loud for what you get ! Has that nice orange sound your looking for . Battery life lasts a longggg time but it doesn't hurt to have an extra 9v with you
Great teaching tool
I have used this Amp to teach students and have something they can play through and it works excellent for that. It's not the best sounding but for running off a 9 volt it's pretty impressive.
11/11 Tiny Yet POWERFUL
This thing is amazing. I gifted it to myself for my 39th birthday (at least as far as I can remember xD.)
Had it for five years if that's the case. It's wonderful. I screwed little metal hoops into the sides and sling it over my right shoulder so I can walk around playing electric guitar.
The built in speaker sounds nice, but the amp output is kind of otherworldly. Huge sounds. I could record an entire album with this and no one would complain.
Great!
Pros:
-Surprisingly responsive, with plenty of gain for most situations
-Tiny, can practically fit in my pocket and an run off pedal power or 9v battery
-Best single tone control I've seen, maintains high and low frequencies effectively
-8 ohm speaker output, which really opens up the tone, and it also had a tuner, aux in, and headphone out
-Solid build quality, had mine for 2 years, practically no signs of wear and everything functioning perfectly.
The bass response isn't great, but given the speaker is 4", it's actually not bad
Cons:
No power switch, turns on when you plug in
With a passive strat, it starts to break up with the gain around 10 o'clock, but much lower than that and the bass response flops. With active humbuckers, it's more like 8 o'clock, and again, much lower than that and the bass response just flops.
Overall, especially considering the price, this amp is great. The pros far outweigh the cons. Highly reccomended.
A 9volt powered BEAST
I mean the speaker is small - so it does loose some bass but that makes sense. But wow... this actually kind of feels like its has a lot of gain for an amp powered by a battery! I havent tested this feature out - but it has a line out for a fricken 8ohms cab. Plus the tuner is handy to have. I love that it is so small it fits snuggly on my desk and I can easily grab it with one hand to retrieve it. I want to take it busking kind of lol. I have some plans for next Halloween and this amp though I will say.
It's a grower...
What a pleasant surprise! I'm super happy with this little amp and just can't put it down. Engineered to rock it'll let you down if you're wanting a loud clean signal but if you're inclined to crank it, it will oblige. I love the ability to shape my sound in so many ways in such a small form factor. Another great product from Orange and another happy customer with Sweetwater and the amazing customer service!
Best mini amp
Best mini amp with line out can be plugged
Into speaker cabinet or sound board. Have
Used it for gigging.
Great amp for travel
I wanted something small enough to fit in a gig bag, that didn't sound like hot garbage. This amp is perfect. It sounds great for it's size.
Such an incredible product!
So simple to use and really great for what it is and what it cost me. Great for beginners and the perfect size on the go not to mention how little space it takes up. Highly recommend it.
Perfect
I'm still trying to work some of the things out and figure out how to use a couple of things to perfect my sound with it, but so far it's worked great. I've had amplifiers before but none were quite as good as this one. I'm proud to say that none of the orange amplifiers I've used have ever disappointed me in any way. Very glad to have this product. Money well spent.
Awesome
I take this little amp everywhere I go and it sounds great weather I'm in or outside. I got some for me and my friends and it's allowed us to jam out in some pretty cool places. For this this being such a compact amp the volume on it is pretty impressive, I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to have fun.
Best little amp for lots of reasons
This amp is I believe one of my best purchases this year, and in fact, in a long time. It's one of those keeper items on my work table. Consider the following:
1. MP3s sound REALLY GOOD thru it. I ran my CD player thru it with the player on about 4, and the sound filled the room nicely. Not loud just present. My children said right away that it sounded good. Run your laptop sound thru it too when you stream Netflix. Just watch your volume.
2. The tuner is good. It's nice having it right there in the amp.
3. Ok the guitar sound is awesome too. I love the clean, semi clean, and dirt sounds. Just the right volume and break up. This sounds better than some 6 inch speaker amps.
4. Headphones for direct recording or practice and a speaker out for hooking up to a bigger amp are two awesome additions.
5. Fits in the accessories area of the newer gig bags.
My thoughts: I'm velcroing an mp3 player and a small dan electro delay to it. This is my teaching, travel, and just everyday amp.
JB's service is EXCELLENT. What more could you want?
Again, get one.
Fun Amp
Such a great little amp to take with you anywhere. Great sound and the 9 volt lasts for quite a while.
Great amp and tuner.
This thing has very good sound and is a great practice amp. It also runs on batteries so you can take it anywhere. The service from Sweetwater was awesome!!!
orange crush mini amp
If there were more stars I'd still hit the last one...this little amp is freaking incredible. I never thought such sound could come out of something so small. It has the distortion some of us crave and the clean tones are there too. I love this amp and so do my neighbors at my apartment...
Awesome Battery Travel Amp
This is a great amp for what it was made to do. If you are expecting a full amp or even like a 20 watt practice amp sound it just aint gonna happen with these mini amps, but this can come close with an added speaker. It sounded good through my Marshall cabinet. I needed a battery powered amp I could take the park where they have no outlets. Other amps, like my Pignose, take AA batteries which I hate. I got this goes it uses a 9 volt, that sound is the best at what it does, and it lets you plug in an external speaker. It is also built solid. I use a reverb pedal with it. It is hard to get clean tones with it at high volumes, but with an external speaker it helps boost the sound. So unless you love replacing a bunch of AA batteries or wanna use a generator, then this is the best solution for a travel amp you can play anywhere. I kinda wish they would have just built it with the 8inch speaker built in (or better yet a 10 inch speaker) but that would have driven the cost up. They were smart to add the ext speaker output. I think Orange did a magnificent job on this. I am very happy with it.
Great Personal Amp
This amp is the perfect personal, go anywhere amp for me. I was really impressed with the construction of this unit. It exceeded all of my expectations and is a great value.
Nifty little amp
Good sound. Well built. Tuner is nice. Great for playing along with learning CDs
punchy
This thing rocks! Great tone for something so small.
Fits In My Case And Sounds Fantastic!
Best little amp in its class! Loud with lots of sound options. Hook it up to an AC adapter and a pedal of your choice and play all night!
Orange Crush Mini
Over the years, I have owned many amplifiers (since 1971) both for stage and for home usage from Fender, Marshall, Hiwatt, Vox, Traynor (all tubes for the stage)and many others for home use mostly trannies. The Crush Mini through a good cab is, in my opinion, the best possible choice. My main rig is an Orange OR15H through a 1X12. After reading Sweetwater reviews, I decided to purchase the Mini. Well, it was a revelation! Through my cabs (one with a 1X12 Celestion Greenback and a Fender XD cab) it is so close to the OR15H one must hear it to believe it! Strangely, the Mini sounds best (a little less trebly) through the Fender cab though it has a lesser quality Celestion (70/80). Great sounds clean or distorted are achievable. It also takes pedals very well.
Portable and brutal.
Killer little amp! Loud, clear, fun as hell! Jamming outside has never been easier.
Orange power
Big punch for a little amp. 10 stars.
It has a external jack outlet to add 4 12s. Lol
You could mike it through the p.a. and you can firevtje roadies.
Orange crush mini amp
Orange crush mini amp rocks
Ordered several times from Sweetwater. I have always gotten great products and great service
Orange Crush Mini
I got mine today and it ROCKS! This will come in handy during the late-night urge to jam. It gets a great distorted sound for Death Metal and can get some nice cleaner sounds for Blues. You won't really get a truly clean sound from it. But, that's just fine by me. I have other amps for that purpose. For the money, it's a great buy.
Orange Crush Mini
I have owned many little tabletop amps, this one is intriguing in a few ways. You have to work it to get what you want out of it! Many reviewers seem to forget what these are made for, you could play a show with it, you could use it just for the tuner, or you could use it as a novelty. I have found that it sounds great out of the box like most Orange amps. It's not a powerhouse, it just serves it's purpose as a great link in the chain of song writing or messin around backstage, it's a lot of fun, and with different guitars you can get sounds out of it that you can't get anywhere else because of what it is and what its designed for. Hook up a distortion pedal and make it sound different, louder, but in the end its a real Orange amp, either hooked up to a 1x12 or a 4x12, it's a great little bookend that will be ready as quick as you can plug in your instrument. AWESOME!!!! Thankyou Sweetwater again for the great service, till next time, this mini is the best so far!
My Orange Crush Mini
Powered by dual 9-volt batteries, I can take it anywhere! I currently use it in my mobile setup with an iphone running BiasFX into this amp- I make mobile location videos for my youtube channel. The sound is really great for such a mini amp.
Orange Crush Mini 3 Watt Micro...the new one!!!
All by itself, being a stand alone analog soid state amp,,, ehhh ... it has it's sweet spots that are really sweet if you want low volume clean to slightly broken cleans but there are probably better options if that's what you want...the 8 ohm output however is stellar and still excells at cleans and broken cleans at levels that, IMO, are less than rehearsal volumes with a band but stellar at bedroom practice. I personally am running the headphone out through my little 4 channel Mackie VLZ4 out into my presonus 4.5" studio monitors with a little little reverb and delay in front and I am super happy with the low volume tones that I am getting. Far better than some of the other options out there that were mentioned before...
Very very good.
This thing blew me away. It's loud and it sounds great. And the audio output is a great bonus.
Impressive capabilities for its size
I was immediately impressed by the solid construction. The built-in tuner is convenient too. Plus (I recently discovered this), you can connect this little guy to the 20-watt Orange cabinet and power it! The sound quality noticeably improves compared to running it solo. Overall, for its intended purpose, a practice amp, it sets the bar high over other mini amps in this price range.
It's good
It's fun trying out the different tones this little guy is capable of.
Great amp
The sound of this amp is great. I would have given a 5 star but had a blackstar mini which died on me ( 5 yrs old +/-) had delay built in. But comparing sound clean and dirty orange crush mini definitely better.
It is amazing
The only is the distortion it sound regular. Good for me to practice in a room.
lil high gain monster
great little practice amp,its pretty down and dirty, you wont need a dirt pedal. That being said it hard to get a clean tone, but who wants that anyway. As always the people at sweetwater are great , and very helpful...wont go anywhere else
Orange Crush Mimi
I had already read some reviews on this little guy lately I have been into the small battery powered amp"s and recording with them I also have the Boss Katana which I really liked and I had been recording with it and getting some great sounds out of it. So I wanted to add a new flavor so I call my studio Santa Mark Magdich who I have been dealing with for years and ordered this little guy. So I open it up Christmas morning and wait patiently till the family is all done and I grap it and go down to the studio and plug in batteries were all ready included very nice of orange to do that I set everything at 12 and hit a few chords I was not expecting much out of the little speaker and the sound was ok not like the Katana. So I cranked everything all the way wow some great distortion trying to get a clean sound not so good. Next I plugged it into a 1 12 cabinet oh yeah much better sound not rehearsal level sound but a good practice volume. After playing around I set up a new session in my DAW set up a drum track and plugged in the Orange Wow oh Wow great sound rhythm tracks strong and punchy heavy distortion guitar solo awesome sounds. The tuner works fine a nice addition the speaker out Jack very nice and definitely helps make this amp sing for practice but for me a line out from the headphone out jack into my DAW really works nice and gave me the big Orange sound. I took a half star off as I did not really care for the sound of the little speaker but it is not a deal killer it is kinda fun when sitting on the couch but I would probably use the Katana first but this guy definitely has a home in my studio great for guitar leads and crunchy rhythms great job Orange
Love it
Love the upgraded features and really loved running through 4 x 12 cab!
Great practice amp
Bada$$ mini amp. Great sound for such a small product.
Should have come with the DC adapter hence 4 stars.
Great little practice amp
In the 90's, I had the tiny Marshall...it sounded like crap. They've come a long way with these mini amps. This amp has a nice clean and depending what you play, you can get a pretty decent distortion. Its decently loud as well. If you ran a distortion pedal through the clean, it sounds even better if you played metal. I wish it had a handle, or something that made it easier to handle bringing it around. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Sweetwater is always fast with shipping.
Kinda stunned...
I didn't expect it to sound as good as it does, plugged into the mix via the headphone out, it really shines. It's quite responsive to your playing. The clean is even nice, which I really didn't expect being only a few watts. The dirt... Orange!
Has me looking at bigger Oranges, now.
One complaint: The battery door breaks as soon as you look at it. Just don't open it... It's in there, connected.
Beastly little thing
Solid little amp, especially compared to the competition of the same or below price. Punchy and full of Blues-Rock and Hard Rock tones. Would recommend!
Loves: build quality is superb, built-in tuner/headphone/Aux/speaker/DC, loud volume level, size/weight.
Gripes: no power switch (amp comes on when you plug in the guitar cable), no clean tones, can be difficult dialing in certain tones without being overly harsh.
Did not last long. Sounded great while it did.
I bought the 3 watt Orange from Sweetwater in Nov 2021. The 8 ohm speaker connection was the main reason for buying. Used it with battery and with 9v adaptor. Alternated between the internal speaker and a 1x8" cab. Sounded great, no issues.
Now, the amp has power but no signal to the speakers. Never had any pops or fizzles when playing. Adaptor was on a surge protector.
It's probably my fault...
It's probably my fault for grabbing the tiniest Orange I could find on impulse. Full disclosure, I have three Orange amps/cabs for both bass and guitar, so when I saw this little friend while searching for something I could comfortably shred on the couch with, I was immediately smitten and purchased without much thought.
Unfortunately, it sounds like complete s***, which, as an Orange snob, made me super sad. The clean channel is essentially non-existent (unless using headphones), and when the gain is turned up it just sounds boxy/tinny, and generally not very good at all. Thankfully, Sweetwater is amazing and I'm currently enjoying the Fender Mustang headphone amp they allowed me to exchange for the Orange Mini.
In conclusion, (most) Orange amps are amazing, but not this one; and Sweetwater is the bee's knees.
Sadly, didn't last a year
I didn't expect much, honestly. The tone was surprisingly fun for an "amp" this size. The built in tuner was great, pushing to overdrive was easy and satisfying when sitting on my porch and noodling.
Unfortunately, the jack stopped working. Plugging a cable in turns the device on, supposedly. That feature stopped working. I'll have to take it apart and mess with it, but not really happy. I didn't really even use it that much as it's too hot to sit outside in the summer and too cold in winter. Didn't even last a full season.
Even at that price
I should have looked about more before buying this. Lovely concept, the problem I had with this little amp was while its total volume capacity is ok, you can't get there without turning the gain up and encountering breakup. I mostly play on the clean channel/setting and wanted more than a whisper for practice.
Happily sweetwater is easy about returns. I've replaced it with a THR5, plenty more expensive, however great features and sufficiently portable for my needs.
Cheap
This is a money gimmick. I took mine back pretty much within 48 hours of buying it. Any amp that will run off batteries will sound like it's running off them.
