Professional ADAM Monitoring for Your Studio

As the flagship of the T Series, ADAM Audio’s line of professional 2-way active studio monitors, the T8V features an 8-inch polypropylene low-frequency driver that delivers bass extension down to an impressive 39Hz, while the company’s U-ART accelerated-ribbon tweeter provides pristine highs extended up to 25kHz — quite remarkable for a monitor in this price range. The tweeter’s broad, uniform dispersion pattern is assisted by a precision waveguide modeled on the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM’s premium S Series studio monitors, which provides an impressively wide sweet spot that liberates you from being constrained to a rigid listening position.

The T8V’s beveled cabinet features a rear-firing bass reflex port affixed to a thick metal backplate that houses the analog input connections and DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalization. The woofer’s 70W Class D amplifier, in combination with the 20W Class D tweeter amp, enables a pair of T8Vs to achieve an impressive maximum SPL of 118dB at one meter. Lastly, the T8V’s extended frequency response, robust dynamic range, exemplary transient response, broad sweet spot, and compact footprint make it ideally suited for use in small control rooms for music production, video post, and broadcast applications.

8" polypropylene low-frequency driver

The drivers in ADAM Audio studio monitors benefit from years of in-house research and development and take advantage of the latest advances in technology and materials science. The woofer in the T8V is engineered to deliver optimized low-frequency reproduction with extended dynamic range and freedom from coloration. It incorporates a rigid, yet low-mass polypropylene driver cone; a highly efficient magnet assembly and precisely aligned voice coil; and an optimized driver chassis/basket design. The T8V’s 8" woofer extends response down to 39Hz, making the speaker a suitable choice for nearfield monitoring in small control rooms, with or without a subwoofer. If more low-end extension is desirable, ADAM Audio’s Sub8 and Sub8 subwoofers pair perfectly with the T8V.

The U-ART accelerated-ribbon tweeter

Instead of producing sound with a piston-like diaphragm like most loudspeakers, ADAM Audio’s U-ART accelerated-ribbon tweeter uses a pleated diaphragm that prevents distortion by moving air four times faster than the folds themselves are moving. Built to the tightest tolerances, the U-ART tweeter delivers ultra-low distortion and extends the frequency range up to 25kHz, enriching the soundfield with stunning detail and faithfully conveying every nuance of the source material so you can work over long periods without listening fatigue.

ADAM Audio: elevating the state of the art

From its 1999 launch in Berlin, ADAM Audio has built a solid reputation among the pro audio cognoscente. The engineers at Sweetwater know that a superior speaker system has superior components, and this is one area where the company has a distinct edge. With years of R&D behind each proprietary driver, ADAM Audio’s custom driver technology expresses itself in breakthroughs such as their X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter, which is based on a groundbreaking 1960s invention, the Heil Air Motion Transformer — and in fact, was the main impetus for the formation of ADAM Audio. The X-ART tweeter became the key to ADAM’s signature transparent, high-definition sound and the core development of ADAM’s proprietary designs going forward.

Embracing, exploiting, and working with modern materials has allowed ADAM Audio to formulate loudspeaker components that continually elevate the state of the art in studio monitor design. Materials such as rare-earth magnets and high-strength diaphragm foils have increased reliability, enhanced performance, and made possible new driver geometry. As compared with conventional driver technology, Adam drivers deliver optimized radiation characteristics, lower distortion, and higher efficiency. Along with installations in a growing number of top studios, ADAM Audio’s monitor range has garnered rave reviews from audio experts and recording engineers worldwide. If you’re considering an upgrade to world-class monitoring, you’ll be in good company with ADAM Audio monitors.

Reviews

Nearfield Nirvana
I purchased a pair of the Adam Audio T8V 8-inch monitors a little over a year ago. I am using them in a nearfield setup in my desktop system. I am a lifelong audiophile. My goal was to get the biggest bang for my buck to achieve a true high-end sound - linearity, dynamics, full frequency range, and serious imaging and dimensionality. I remodeled my art studio downstairs with sound in mind, it's a nice symmetrical space with heavy acoustic damping in the walls and ceiling - and some homemade bass corner traps.
I am using a Dell PC, Topping DX 5 DAC/Pre, Audiocadabra digital cable, Anti-Cable RCA's - augmented by an SVS SB 1000 Pro sub. I run Tidal at highest res settings.
The Adam Audio monitors have a wonderful clear, extended high end with excellent dispersion. The 8 inch woofers dig deep and are beautifully mated to the U Art tweeter. Most people would be happy with no subwoofer - the monitors are capable of serious bass - tight, articulate bass. Imaging is exceptional - with that amazing bloom that literally can send a great recording flying up and through the roof - super 3-D!
Perhaps my favorite standout characteristic of the monitors is the sense of effortlessness - even at serious volume levels. I have never felt like they are straining or breaking up.

The Adam Audio T8v's have exceeded all expectations, delivering a headphone-like experience with incredible slam.
I did a lot of research before my purchase, and I believe they are a stone-cold bargain.

Fantastic sound, fantastic value
I recently had a pair of M-Audio BX8 speakers die. Well only one of the pair died. But paying to have them serviced, plus the cost of shipping, was getting close to the cost of a pair of new monitors, so I decided to pull the trigger on a new set. I work in a fairly small room - about 12 x 14 feet - but it's covered wall to wall in bass traps from GIK Acoustics (probably the best investment I've ever made in the studio, bar none).

After looking around a lot, I settled on either plunking down a LOT of cash on some Genelec One series, or saving a lot of money and trying out the "budget" option in Adam T8V. I was not disappointed. I love the high-end these produce. Coupled with a scan using REW (Room EQ Wizard) and corrections from the Behringer Ultra-Curve Pro, I'm able to really dial in the sound of the room, eliminating any major spikes or dips in frequency response, then shaping the overall sound to taste (I prefer a little bit of the classic smily-face EQ shape. The resulting sound is consistent, non-fatiguing, and accurate (other than my minor overall adjustments).

Highly recommended, although I can't stress enough, BEFORE you plunk down your hard-earned cash on fancy new monitors, invest in some room treatment (I'm not talking about Auralex, I mean something that's 4 to 6 inches thick of pure Rockwool. I use GIK panels, which are awesome. And learn how to use a room measurement/correction software like the lovely freeware REW.
Next Level Monitoring!
These monitors took my mixing to the next level. The freq. range rivals monitors costing 4 times the cost of the T8V's. Worth every Penny! Thank you to Rob Amaral "The Magic Man!" He is the best, most knowledgable Sales Engineer you'll find.

Awesome powered studio monitor
These ribbon tweeter studio monitors are great for dissecting the tracks will recording. I have nothing negative to say about them and I'm assuming they will last me a long time.

All I Can Say is.... WOW
Like it's been said these things are huge but so is the sound. These have taken my mixes up to a whole new level. These are an absolute great price. My next purchase will be the T7v's or T5v's. I recommend these to everyone!!! I would like to thank my Rep Dan Robinson who always takes care of me. By far the best Rep I've ever had.
