New Yosemite pickups
Combining vintage tone with modern clarity and detail, you'll find Fender's Yosemite pickups on all American Performer series instruments. These pickups feature Alnico magnets and are calibrated as a set for each instrument. Yosemite pickups have flat-staggered pole pieces, which give them a slightly hotter output and also help them achieve balanced output across all strings. If you prefer old-school Fender tone, but with a bit more output than vintage originals, you'll dig Yosemite pickups.
Greasebucket tone circuit on all models
Fender's Greasebucket tone circuit — found on all American Performer series instruments — aims to give players a more useful tone knob. There are many tone circuit types out there, and many will actually boost some low frequencies while you're rolling off highs. That can make your tone sound muddy and indistinct, and that's where the Greasebucket tone circuit comes in. The Greasebucket circuit rolls off highs without affecting lows, so your tone gets darker without losing clarity and focus.
