A duo of Fender Yosemite single-coil pickups — with flat-staggered pole pieces to increase output — serve up classic Strat spank and sparkle, while a hot DoubleTap humbucker simmers at the bridge, ready to sizzle your solos. A push-pull tone knob lets you split the bridge pickup, opening up an extended range of single-coil tones. The second tone pot engages Fender's Greasebucket master tone circuit, which rolls off highs without reducing gain. I love this guitar.
In recent years, I've mostly been playing drums, but have played guitar off and on most of my life, and recently decided to get back into it. I've always been a strat guy, but I listen to and play all kinds of music, so while I knew I would get a strat, after looking into the latest strats, I immediately noticed the Humbucker on the bridge on this HSS. Also, since I mostly play blues and rock, I loved the jumbo frets, and starting seeing great reviews on the Yosemite pickups.
All that to say I haven't been disappointed. The sound is amazing, I love the finish and size of the neck, and couldn't be happier with my purchase. Also, since I just started purchasing from Sweetwater, and never thought I would buy a guitar without playing it first, I've been blown away by their service. It seems most company's service has gone one way, and Sweetwater's has gone the other. I'm a customer for life, or as long as they maintain that level of service.

Yes, love the guitar very much very good review writer.Love the color, love everything. My sons all loved the guitar, so I decided to buy 5. It's about as much as my rent costs, but it's so worth it. My 4 other sons-ricky,craig,morty,sanjay all play the guitar (not very well though) but i used the fifth guitar. Very good quality. I love my boys more than my husband. The divorce has been rough but the sound of the guitars block out our fighting, so the boys dont worry one bit
Great guitar!
Extremely versatile. My favorite thing about this guitar is the coil tapped humbucker in the bridge. It is a heavy hitter and when you pull the knob you still get that clean single coil sound. I think you could play just about any style you could want in one guitar. Love the versatility. Highly recommend to someone who wants a lot of different sounds without having to own multiple rigs. Also it played like a dream right out of the box. Thanks Sweetwater!

I've been playing mostly acoustic for over 30 years. Many years ago, I bought a Squire Strat. It just never quite felt right in my hands and I gave it to my youngest son. I continued playing my acoustic.
But I still wanted an electric to jam on, and since I enjoy the sound of a Les Paul, I bought one in 2015 from Sweetwater. I've been fairly happy with it, but it never thrilled me. After mulling it over for quite a while, I decided to get this Fender American Performer Strat HSS in that new "penny" color.
Wow, I adore this guitar! The neck is like butter (in a good way). The action is great and I love the versatility of the single-coil and Humbucker pickups. I'm very happy with this new axe!
Bad QA
The guitar feels and plays great but mine arrived with a defective humbucker on the bridge. Kind of killed the excitement for me after having waited several weeks to get it. Not sure whats going on with Fender's QA or the 55 point inspection but definitely expected more for this price range.
