Built for a Lifetime of Creativity
Every EarthQuaker Devices pedal comes with a limited lifetime warranty — if it breaks, they will fix it. EQD will repair or replace any device that they have manufactured at any time as long as they are still in business.
Made in Akron, Ohio
EarthQuaker Devices are designed and manufactured in Akron, Ohio. To create unique effects units which meet or exceed the needs of the professional touring musician, R&D is performed in-house by founder Jamie Stillman, who designs each device to exacting specifications in order to achieve his creative vision.
A Culture of Experimentation
After the wildly successful debut of the Hoof fuzz, the EarthQuaker Devices lineup quickly expanded into more experimental territory with the Grand Orbiter phaser, Hummingbird tremolo, Ghost Echo reverb, Rainbow Machine polyphonic pitch mesmerizer, and the Disaster Transport delay — one of the earliest delay offerings from a so-called “boutique” manufacturer. EQD has since engineered a powerful DSP architecture that commands the Avalanche Run stereo reverb and delay as well as the Pyramids stereo flanging device. EQD has also developed their proprietary Flexi-Switch Technology®, which allows for latching or momentary effects activation from a single footswitch.
A Brief History of EarthQuaker Devices
EarthQuaker Devices was founded in 2004 by touring musician and DIY record-label owner Jamie Stillman after a successful attempt at repairing a broken overdrive. In 2007, Stillman released his first full-production run pedal, the Hoof fuzz. The Hoof became a popular topic of discussion on several online forums, and word of mouth spread so quickly that Stillman was able to quit his day job. In 2011, Stillman’s wife, Julie Robbins (who, prior to EQD had managed her own talent booking agency), left her position in the banking industry to join the company full-time as CEO, bringing to the organization years of experience in the fields of both talent management and finance. In 2015, EQD renovated a 15,000-square-foot building in downtown Akron, creating a permanent home for its diverse and talented group of employees. EarthQuaker Devices expanded again in 2021 to add a facility that was specifically used for enclosure drilling, printing, and powder coating, bringing another step of the production process in-house to meet their uncompromising demands for quality control.
