About 500 Series EQs
With models ranging from console-based mojo EQs to precision graphic and parametric EQs, choosing a 500 Series EQ for your rig can be an exciting process! Today's 500 Series equalizers come with a range of specialty features, including highpass and lowpass filters, an array of frequency bands, and detented knobs, giving you enhanced freedom in shaping your tone.
All That in a Convenient 500 Series Format?
500 Series equalizers pack a lot of power into a handy format. Spice up your synths, punch up your bass, add impact to your drums, or give your tracks some analog flavor. Here at Sweetwater, you'll find equalizers perfect for inductor-based sweetening to transparent sonic sculpting and all shades in between.
EQ Considerations
How many bands should I get?
The more bands your EQ has, the narrower their Q (bandwidth) and the more surgical their effect. The fewer bands you have, the wider and more "musical" each knob's sweep will be. 10-band EQs, for example, come in handy for notching out problem areas in a snare drum or guitar amp. But when it comes to beefing up a kick drum or shining up a vocal, a simple 3-band EQ will serve you fine.
How many channels do I need?
Most 500 Series equalizers are single-channel for applications like bass guitar and vocals. Even so, we do carry a handful of 2-channel EQs that can handle stereo processing on, for instance, drum overheads or a mix bus.
Onboard filters
Highpass and lowpass filtering can be some of your most important EQ work! And as any engineer who's worked on an old Harrison or Neve console can tell you, not every filter is created equal. Invest in an EQ with an analog filter stage, and you'll get even more miles out of your next purchase.
Pro tip: use the shop filters on this page to sort your EQ options by available bands, channels, filters, and more.
