Bringing the world-class studio home
No matter how inspired your musical ideas are, capturing them is easier said than done. After all, not every musician is a virtuoso on every instrument. And even if you are, you probably don't have an acoustically perfect room to record them in. Simply put, making a pro-quality recording at home isn't easy. And Toontrack gets it - they're musicians, just like the rest of us. They produce music in their home studios just like we do, and they've dealt with the same frustrating limitations. But thanks to their revolutionary products, your room doesn't need to sound like Galaxy Studios for you to produce professional-sounding music. Toontrack's products fill common technological gaps, bringing the sound of the world's greatest recording spaces to your modest home studio.
Studio-quality drums for everyone
Toontrack never intended to become a company. They were just a couple of enthusiastic musicians producing video game soundtracks in a home studio. In fact, their first foray into drum software development was a complete accident. Co-founder Mattias Eklund, like most recording musicians at the time, found that he couldn't achieve studio-quality drums. To get around this obstacle, he tapped Fredrik Thordendal and Tomas Haake (of Meshuggah fame) to help him craft a collection of hard-hitting acoustic drum samples, dubbed "Drumkit from Hell." According to Mattias, he had no aspirations of selling dfh. But it took on a life of its own, and home studio owners gained the ability to add professionally recorded drums to their projects. Although almost two decades have passed since dfh was released, Toontrack still maintains the same ethos, developing problem-solving tools that they use for their own projects.
Preserving your inspiration
When technology overshadows your creativity, you waste time tweaking your computer instead of making music. Toontrack knows this, and that's the beauty of their products. They let you focus on your music, not on what's going on under the hood. Their innovative software streamlines the creative process, so you can capture your ideas before they're lost forever. They also don't think music creation should be limited to folks who know how to use a 2" tape machine. That's why they design their products to be easy to use. When you use a Toontrack product, you don't need to be an expert engineer to get a great-sounding recording.
Breaking down technological barriers
Toontrack's products remove the technological barriers that inhibit your creativity. Even if you're not a drummer, you can use EZdrummer and Superior Drummer to create incredibly realistic drum performances that sound like they were recorded in a top-tier studio. EZmix takes EZdrummer's intuitive approach to creating drum tracks and applies it to the art of mixing, while EZkeys allows non-keyboard players to build complete piano parts and integrate them into their own arrangements. Toontrack wants you to be able to capture your musical ideas without being bogged down by the process. From inception to completion, Toontrack makes recording easy.
Passionate musicians developing innovative tools
Toontrack was born out of Mattias Eklund's need for great-sounding drums. Using top engineers in top studios, he overcame the limitations of his home studio. Toontrack will do the same for you. Their products were developed in cooperation with select talent from all over the world, including producers such as George Massenburg, Randy Staub, Dave Cobb, Andy Sneap, Richard Devine, Steve Albini, Peter Henderson, Forrester Savell, Mark Lewis, Glenn Rosenstein, Neil Dorfsman, and Chuck Ainlay, and drummers such as Kenny Aronoff, Harry Stinson, Chad Cromwell, Ryan Vikedal (Nickelback), Tomas Haake (Meshuggah), Mario Duplantier (Gojira), Chris Whitten (Paul McCartney), Matt Garstka (Animals as Leaders), Matt Halpern (Periphery), John Tempesta (White Zombie), and Roy "Futureman" Wooten (Bela Fleck). Sounds were meticulously captured in the top studios, such as Galaxy Studios, Avatar, Fame, Electrical Audio, Sound Kitchen, The Hit Factory, British Grove, Henson Studios, Blackbird, and The Warehouse.
Thanks to Toontrack's innovative software, you'll no longer have to imagine what your projects would sound like in a "real studio," because you'll already be hearing it.
