It's Toontrack
I've been working with the software a number of years and can't find anything that compares. I upgraded to ez 2 primarily for the B3 which sounds as anything Toontrack, authentic. Buy it, you'll love it
ezkeys2
all there products are well thought out
How cool is this!
It's difficult sometime to come up with good keyboard / piano parts,
But with EZ Keys it's so dang simple.
All in all I'm very glad I got this and bought some expansions!
Very cool. Be careful tho, you can spend a lot of time just exploring the parts, it's a major time suck, but it's super fun.
Now as far as easy, super easy! I'm not a hugely tech guy but I can hold my own, don't need to be with this! Super easy! I love this system.
A+
I was looking for piano sounds including rhodes type electric and I got some nice presets out of ez keys2. Only one piano included but 30+ effects/presets. Base Piano sound is excellent, one of the best I've heard. Toontrack puts out new offerings that aren't so perfect but if ez bass is any indication they'll make ez keys right in short order also. Happy customer
Off timing and chord changes
I second what another reviewer stated. It seems to have trouble with matching the correct chords and timing with tacks that have anything other than the basic chord patterns on down beats. If you try to use bandmate with guitar chord progressions that have any ornamentation or bass lines with any flair other than hitting root notes on beat it has trouble. It does have some nice features that help out with chord selection, dynamics etc. which is overall a better starting point as opposed to starting from scratch, but it doesnt quite make things as "easy" as the marketing positioned it to be. Sometimes more frustrating than not, always hoping it will hit closer to the mark but often misses by too much.
Promotional Videos Are More Impressive
The promotional YouTube clips make EZKeys 2 look like something that could be really useful, especially the Bandmate feature. Unfortunately, it falls way short of that goal. I use EZ Drummer and love it. It works rather well. But EZKeys isn't that useful. I attempted to use the Bandmate feature multiple times, but the outcome wasn't good. It not only failed to correctly identify the chords, it also failed to identify when the chords change. I used a single guitar wave playing E7#9 to A13, and Am7 to G13. Then I attempted a wave with guitar and drums. Then guitar, drums, and bass. It failed all 3 times to read the chords and the timing of the chord changes. I even tried a single piano chord track. That failed as well.
The midi grid is adequate, but the Studio One midi editor is easier to use and has better options.
Toontrack also seemed to cheap-out on what sounds are included. If you want/need something more than basic piano, you'll have to spend a little more on some expansion packs.
Overall, I'm not impressed. Perhaps this works with very basic chords on simplistic songs. But so far, I haven't found EZKeys 2 useful at all.
