Toontrack Fields of Rock SDX Expansion Reviews
Nestled in an idyllic countryside setting, Rockfield Studios became a creative haven for a bevy of iconic 1970s-era bands. Indeed, many cherished rock classics were recorded there, including Queen's timeless "Bohemian Rhapsody." Toontrack's Fields of Rock SDX was captured in the different rooms of this legendary location by award-winning producer/engineer Tom Dalgety. This SDX expansion includes seven drum kits, as well as a wide selection of cymbals and one of the most comprehensive collections of auxiliary percussion instruments we've ever encountered. Everything was tracked through a top-tier selection of vintage mics, outboard gear, and hardware tape emulation. You also get a sizeable helping of rock-oriented Dalgety-crafted presets and a MIDI library performed by ace drummer Mat Hector. Rockfield remains an industry lynchpin to this day, attracting top-tier artists like Coldplay, Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Bullet for My Valentine, Sepultura, Opeth, and many others. Now, thanks to Toontrack's Fields of Rock, you can add yourself to that list without leaving the comfort of your own studio.

Toontrack Fields of Rock
Another awesome drum kit from Toontrack. So expressive and musically inspiring no matter the genre. The only drum source I sue other than using a live player when needed. When I'm done with my final arrangements in recording and final mixing most can't make out if it's a live drummer or a Toontrack kit. I have pretty much all the kits so whatever the musical genre I'm good to go. Fields of Rock ROCKS!!!!!!! sorry, couldn't resist!
Fantastic
It's a super solid SDX. If you can't find sounds in here that work, that's on you.
Another good one from Toon Track
Good job as usual from Toon Track. I'm happy with the latest two SDX expansions that I bought: The Rooms of Hansa and, now, Fields of Rock. In general, the 'making of' videos that Toon Track produces showing the background of these SDX expansions, how they are made and the makers behind it are nice. Some of the kit names used in this latest expansion are clever and amusing. All in all, a good software product with the drum sounds well sampled. The rest, how the software is used, as well as knowledge, skill, creativity, enthusiasm, etc. is up to the individual(s) using it.
A lot of energy from the mics and rooms used
I own the core SD3 library and Legends of Rock. This library adds more flavors to my edrumming pallet. I use these expansions as modules for my drumming setup for building drum compositions. One thing this expansion excels in is the live room used for the live kit and the mic selections too. The Storm Trooper kit has a big kick where I actually play softer on my Roland pedal just to keep control of the boom. The snare is snappier and really goes more forward into the mix. The beauty of the kit are the toms chosen. I will just start playing patterns with a lot more toms in this kit then I'll record the idea and try to transfer some of those ideas into my TR8S and Analog RYTM drum machines. The toms in this room are very melodic especially if you like to write techno or house in your projects then these live drums translate into those genres.
The dry kits are also good kits that add something else to other projects I am working on. The Godfather kit is a general rock kit which has a lot more density to the mix the same with the Evil Disco kit. Then if I want to get adventurous I actually get into the Toontrack presets and work with those settings. Compared to the Legends of Rock expansion these presets went generous with drum compression ratios and the saturation of outboard gear. Them is are already more defined but the additional outboard it went through adds more flavor to your drumming projects. It's stuff I would already have chosen to do with my outboard compressors except the toontrack team knew what settings I like to do on a compressor. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase.
You will be very disappointed
It is the worst sdx they have made
