Recognizable Style and Sound — at a Friendly Price!

Reliable construction materials, iconic design elements, and an affordable price point make the Squier Sonic Stratocaster one of the most popular first instrument picks around Sweetwater. Fit with a single ceramic humbucking pickup, a traditional 6-saddle hardtail bridge, and a smooth-playing satin-finished neck, players will be as close as it gets to genuine Strat playability while benefiting from an assemblage of beginner-friendly features. Apart from providing charming good looks, this guitar’s S-style body shape and conventional bolt-on maple neck provide a solid playing foundation and reliable construction that will endure countless hours of use. Additionally, the Squier Sonic Stratocaster’s onboard control set encourages players to scratch every surface of potential guitar tone, proving a valuable asset no matter which play style you prefer. When making your first guitar decision, there’s something to be said about going with a timeless classic — reach for the stars with a Squier Sonic Stratocaster!

Authentic, reliable solidbody construction

The Squier Sonic Stratocaster bears the look and feel of a recognizable axe classic. Given its S-style poplar body, you’ll have no problem extracting rich guitar tones while maintaining comfortable positioning. Additionally, its satin-finished maple neck with a “C”-shape profile creates a smooth playing surface that, when paired with the body’s cutaway shape, grants easy access to all 21 frets. Finalized with durable chrome hardware, die-cast tuning machines, and an eye-catching gloss finish, the Squier Sonic Stratocaster makes a worthy addition to any musician’s instrument arsenal.

Single humbucking pickup with versatile controls

Although the Stratocaster is famously known for its distinct high-end chime, the single ceramic humbucking pickup in this Squier Sonic can produce a bevy of crystal-clear guitar tones. You’ll also find a master volume and a tone knob. With this control center at hand, wavy chord progressions, articulate lead lines, and a well of other possible sounds are within your grasp. And it's all topped off with a sturdy top-load hardtail bridge for supreme string support.

Squier Sonic Series: suitable selections for emerging guitarists

Ask any Sweetwater musician: whether you’re searching for your first instrument or a more affordable guitar option, Squier’s Sonic Series should be at the top of the list. Options ranging from classic Stratocasters to beefy Precision basses provide beginner musicians with all the essentials required to start their audial journey — without sacrificing sound quality. Likewise, a new, expanded library of color options and body styles ensures every musician can access the perfect instrument. Topped off with the same durable build and tonal capabilities as every other Squier instrument, the Sonic Series provides years of reliable and authentic performance to any player.

Reviews

Sweet guitar
I've never been much of a fan of Squier guitars but I really like this . It's nicely weighted and the neck feels good . I haven't had it for about a week since I'm switching out everything on the guitar aside from the body and neck by a local guitar tech . A couple more days and I'll have it again lol .
Music background: Listened to uncle Jerry play folk guitar while eating clams as a child
Really nice guitar for the price
I bought this strat to customize and I was surprised at how nice it was out of the box. Finish is really good. Playability really good. Neck had a few sharp frets but easy fix. I made a few minor cosmetic upgrades and, in my opinion, it's a steal for under $. Thinking about buying another just to customize. Really pleased with this purchase.
Glad I got it here!
Needed an inexpensive Strat to try a few modifications on after watching a documentary about Robin Trower.. this fits the bill nicely, and is currently working perfectly~ Big awesome thank you to Johnathan Casarow for helping me with my loony project ideas!

raw and rockin
love this guitar !! It definitely plays and sounds way better than its price point. IMO it is two small/easy mods away from being a road/gigging warrior.
sexy beast!
To be clear, this is a five-star guitar *at this price point*; if it had cost significantly more that rating would be harder to justify. But for two bills? Fuggeddaboutit! This thing rips. Bought it on a lark and thought I would probably regret it: it's cheap to purchase, the color is weird (and weirdly compelling, looks awesome IRL) and I'm not usually into strats. But, turns out it exceeds expectations in every way. Nothing to regret, I'm exceptionally pleased with it.

There's a lot to like here. It's super lightweight (six pounds flat!) and very comfortable, the neck shape is great, the bridge is nice, the single pickup vibe rocks and it sounds good. The light, thin body is a treat and I really like what Squier is doing with the necks on these Sonics; it has an extremely thin coat of urethane sealant and that's it, it almost feels unfinished. Very slick and fast, and easily preferable to the thick gloss necks on other Squiers IMO. And just generally, as a total package this hardtail Stratocaster is super cool and fun and highly addictive to play.

Finish is very good but not flawless (close, though). Tuners are predictably mediocre but so far they work. Pots are Korean Alpha minis (good) but they're a touch scratchy. And as with any guitar and especially budget guitars, it arrived in need of a set up. In this case, it was in desperate need. But it took it very well and I was able to give it a very low action without doing any work. Frets are well leveled and especially the ends are shockingly well dressed. Nut is cut correctly. The guitar is imminently playable with nothing more than a set up. People, don't expect guitars to arrive set up! It's obvious that so many negative guitar reviews result from buyers expecting the guitar to magically come out of the box just to their taste. It doesn't work like that. It doesn't even really make sense for manufacturers to try to do a set up at all, and with instruments this inexpensive they don't seem to. So don't panic if it seems wonky at first blush, it probably just needs to have a couple basic moves made on it. This is a great guitar with a few minor tweaks. It could be a perfect guitar with some slightly bigger tweaks and a few upgrades.

Speaking of: this strat can be almost anything you want it to be. The cavity is routed for three humbuckers (but it's not a swimming pool rout, interestingly) and the control cavity is huge. You could put three pickups and all the switches and pots in the world in this thing, the sky is the limit.

Finally, top experience buying from Sweetwater, cheers amigos!
