Superior Performance and Sophisticated Style

Charvel’s Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 PT HH is a stylish and versatile guitar that’s ready to unleash waves of crashing overdrive and scorching lead lines — but is also down for some chilled-out, Southern California clean-tone chime. Spec’d for superior performance, the Pro-Mod So-Cal is packed with two Fishman Fluence Open Core Classic pickups that offer up a range of classic and modern rock ‘n’ roll and metal tones beloved by guitarists at Sweetwater. The premium hardware package—including a Gotoh Custom 510 Tremolo, sealed die-cast tuners, and Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut—keeps things intoned, in-tune, and ready to shred. A do-it-all axe, The Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 PT HH electric guitar excels in every playing style, and once you pick it up, you’ll never want to put it down!

Cali Cool with Attitude

The Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2’s classic body shape and all-black hardware exhibit a laid-back Cali style with a heavy dose of Charvel attitude. An ash body contributes to the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2’s bright and cutting tone, which soars above the mix and is reinforced with a pronounced midrange and tight low end. Made from stunning caramelized maple with a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish, the guitar’s “Speed Neck” is designed for extreme comfort and lightning-fast fretwork on its 24-fret fingerboard.

Fluence Open Core Classic pickups give you endless tonal options

With the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 PT HH Fluence's Fishman Fluence active pickups, you're able to harness several decades of the most sought-after rock and metal tones ever mined. Yours with the tug of a pot are three distinctly different voices for each pickup:

  • Neck V1: a clear, vintage-sounding PAF humbucker
  • Neck V2: an airy chime with plenty of sweetness
  • Neck V3: the quack and spank of a classic single-coil
  • Bridge V1: a bridge-position PAF with extra output
  • Bridge V2: a muscular, hot-rodded humbucker
  • Bridge V3: an overwound single-coil for Texas blues to screaming leads

And unlike other wire-wound pickups, Fluence Open Core Classics deliver these classic voicings without noise or inductance issues. Discover for yourself why many guitarists at Sweetwater trust their axes to the Fluence system — check out the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 PT HH.

The Pro-Mod story

Charvel's Pro-Mod series guitars rock classic Charvel style, born in Southern California more than three decades ago. These axes are packed with the hot-rodded, high-performance features artists rely on: classic body styles, premium tonewoods, unfinished oiled necks, smooth, rolled fingerboard edges, scorching pickups, rock-solid bridges, and more.

Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 PT HH Features:

Reviews

The guitar I always wished Fender would make, but isn’t brave enough to put their own name on.
Who doesn't love a tele? But many of us who do wish Fender would deviate from the standard tele formula and really push the boundaries of what a tele is or could be. This is that tele. This has all of the features that Fender won't do on a tele that has their name on the headstock of reverse headstock, 24 frets, a thin neck carve, spoke wheel truss rod, Fishman Fluence active pickups, carved neck heel, all the comfort carves typically found on a strat, rear mounted jack, and the most comfortable satin finished roasted maple on both the neck and body. Not to mention the roasted Maple neck, Gotoh 510 trem bridge (that is always floating), locking tuners, luminlay side dots, and the best fretwork that I have ever seen on any Fender made instrument, nickel frets that are so polished that they feel like stainless steel.

I will be the first to admit that this not going to win any beauty contests, to quote my wife "it looks like cheap kitchen cabinets", but it is one of the best feeling guitars to play, and this guitar is about performance not looks, although the blacked out version will appeal to many visually, I went with the "natural" finish as I may want to refinish the body or even add cap to it in the future. I can't put this guitar down and somehow the neck is even more comfortable than the one on my EBMM Sabre HT, which is something that I didn't think was possible. And this Charvel is made in Fender's Mexican factory.

I typically deck my trems and the body is routed under the bridge so that this is always floating, for some this is added reason to go with the hardtail version, I may find a way to block it at some point if I find that the tuning isn't as stable as I would like (tbd), I will also change string gauge to 10's and give it a proper set up as the action is just a little high for my taste. Again this is a personal preference thing. I highly recommend this guitar (or the hardtail version) to anyone looking for something that pushes the boundaries of what a tele is, or for the shredder that likes T style bodies. I was slightly on the fence about this guitar, but 2 minutes of playing and this quickly became one of my favorite guitars. Do yourself a favor and get your hands on one, it will not disappoint, this guitar plays well above it's price point and holds it's own against guitars 2-3 times it's cost.
It plays anything you need it to
I've played a while and have more guitars than I should.
I play a lot of shows in varying styles. Occasionally I am fortunate enough to play with some of the best players on the planet..note I am not, just a dude in some cover bands. I do see and play some amazing guitars and hear master tones. I've played lots of 3 to 4 hour shows with this and just play it. It's pretty bullet proof and very versatile. The neck is comparable to guitars costing 3 to 4x $$. It's one of the best values I am aware of..great guitar that plays exceptionally well and sounds great but you can take it out without worrying about it too much (not a ton of $$ and road friendly finish).
Music background: Weekend warrior guitarist
I love this guitar
If people can't see how awesome this axe is? They are being overly picky. The tones are great. And it will keep you cocci[oed for hours. I totally think this guitar is totally underraareted/
Love it!
This Charvel is silky smooth to play, looks and sounds great, and as always my man Ian makes the buying experience a breeze! Thanks Sweetwater
