Charvel Hit One Out Of Here....

By David Hughes from Willits, CA on December 18, 2023 Music Background: Guitarist, Sound, Fun...

Yea,Yea,Yea, I have many guitars...Blah,Blah,Blah...
This guitar, if it's your first or part of a collection will not disappoint in any way.It handles juice, has all kinds clean, and harmonics are spot on. Pick-ups deliver as advertised, neck and action is bomb. The trem, for me is better than Fender and close to a Floyd, and the locking tuners help keep it in tune. This is a beautiful guitar with all kinds of MoJo. Mine has a two piece matched body with wavy grain. The caramelized neck is smooth as silk and the frets are dressed to kill. This guitar is at the top of my collection that can handle any playing situation, style, and is just fun to play...Good Job Charvel and thank you Sweetwater...It shure is nice to see the guitar your going to buy. The set-up was professional and much appreciated...Safe and Fast Shipping,Thanks Ryan...
ROCK ON...

Killer value

By Nathaniel Bushmaker from Austin, TX on July 6, 2023

I bought this bc it was recommend in some YT video I saw about best guitar values for under $1000. You def pay a litttle more after shipping, etc, but it's still a great value. use this in a few cover bands: a Journey/80s rock tribute(so also a bit of Van Halen, bon Jovi, etc) and a party variety band (country, RnB, "soft rock"). These fishman pups are just awesome. Can do the most saturated shred tones w the "hot rodded" bridge setting w an exceptional level of expression and clarity. "Paf" setting on bridge is great for classic rock. and w coil tapping you can get the funk, country and rnb stuff. These fishmans are really a leap forward in pickup design. I've played and owned a number of coil tapped pups and these are the best I've heard. And as many ppl say - pups don't sound like typical actives either. They're more expressive.

Guitar is very comfy to play- it's essentially a "super-strat" style design, w a tele headstock. I didn't expect this at first bc it looks like a tele. But it has the contoured body for your right arm (like a strat, not a sharp edge like a tele/LP), great smooth nitro finish on back of neck, and the scooped high neck joint is great for high note access compared to a standard strat/tele. Tuning stability is great

Only negative thing: was set up like

One of the best.

Look at the features of this guitar. What you get for the money is amazing. Of course the features wouldn't mean anything if it wasn't done right and everything is perfect. I have been playing guitar since the 60's so many have past through my hands and this one is a keeper. Like others have said, the neck is silk in your hand. The pickups go from warm to tele like and everything in between. The fret work is the best of all the more expensive guitars I have. It has become my number one.

Great sound, great feel!

By Sweetwater Customer on November 30, 2022

Bought this guitar about four months ago. I almost feel bad for my other electrics, because they barely get played anymore. The neck on this guitar is so amazingly comfortable to play, and it sounds every bit as good as 8t feels.

Wide Arsenal of Tones

By Whammer Jammer from Tennessee on July 11, 2020 Music Background: Basher

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this guitar but my longtime Sales Engineer, Ryan Wiltermood, recommended that I give it a whirl. I had never tried Fishman Fluence pickups and have always played strictly passive pickups. Ryan told me that I needn't worry. I was shocked at how articulate these are and this guitar has caused me to put down my Les Paul's and PRS single cutaways. Both the cleans and dirty tones stay focused. While you cannot get exact Fender Telecaster-type of tones, they are very close and still sound great. If you pile on the dirt, they do not get overly muddy and that is the type of music that I typically play - Hard Rock and Punk. Bravo Fishman, Charvel and especially Ryan for turning me on to this guitar!

Great little beauty!

By Dean Madonia from Kalamazoo on March 21, 2021 Music Background: Pro

Bought this yesterday, so I don't know much. I played it a bit through my rig yesterday and this morning and recorded with it all day today.

Love the looks. Love the feel of the neck. I love the Fishman fluence pickups and the coil tap. The second pickup selectee switch seems to do little when running through distortion, but somewhat noticeable if clean.
I tried it through my fender
Blues jr cannabis Rex, my Kalamazoo, and my eleven rack. Seems eager to break up, but when you split coils, it cleans up beautifully.

I absolutely hate the reverse neck and the reverse order of
tuners but that's a small thing to get used to.

The bridge was rock solid at the store, but terrible in my basement (still a bit chilly in Michigan right now), and I had to tune after every-single-take. I'm sure with warmer weather and time, it will get steady again.

Another small thing is the pickup selector (small one) has a little bit of metal sticking up. I actually scratched myself on it At the store.

This guitar is a replacement for the Schecter Silver mountain that I got for my birthday a few days ago. I sent it back because it was not much different than my Hellraiser, plus the jumbo frets were obnoxiously huge (not good) and a little sharp on The edges.

I prefer this charvel. So far, so good.

Great But Just Not For Me

By Sam from Chiccago on September 30, 2020 Music Background: Teacher & Hobbyist

The specs on this guitar speak for themselves. When I saw the one w/ the grain pattern I loved, I couldn't order it fast enough. As usual w/ Sweetwater, quick service and delivery. The neck profile and fretwork on this guitar exceeded my expectations. This was my first Charvel and now I know why they have such die-hard fans. Wonderful playing guitar! Fit and finish overall were spectacular. I love the way the design for the output jack. I wish more manufacturers adopted this design--very friendly for sitting w/o strap and standing w/ one while playing.

There were 3 things, though, that led me to returning it. Firstly, I was unimpressed w/ the pickups. This was my first experience w/ the Fluence pickups. I did not notice enough difference between the vintage and modern voicings. I did not like the single-coil setting at all. I also didn't like the fretboard markers: the pearloid dots didn't contrast enough on the maple fingerboard even though it was roasted. I never realized how much I rely on those guys visually when I play! Lastly, I had trouble with the reverse headstock. I use a string swing rack on my wall that holds 6 guitars at an angle. The reverse headstock made the 1st string tuner lock knob rub the hanger so that it would loosen and release the first string when I took it off the wall. After happening a few times, I was done.

Overall, this is a great guitar but I personally found a few design choices that prevented me from truly enjoying it. I will be keeping my eye out for another Charvel that meets my needs, though.
