A Great Platform for Archival and Sampling

The Ortofon Concorde MkII CLUB delivers first-class sound quality for traditional vinyl playback. Its Special-Elliptic stylus hugs the grooves of your record, extracting every detail with excellent fidelity. Its 8mV output voltage requires less gain from your preamp, supplying you with clean sound reproduction. It's also less susceptible to feedback during live performance. The CLUB's top-shelf sound makes it a great platform for archival and sampling.

What's a stylus and why's it important?

The stylus is the most important part of your turntable, as it's the only part of your cartridge that makes contact with the record. So if you use a subpar stylus, you'll experience subpar sound. A low-quality stylus can also damage your record. After all, it's exerting roughly 6,000 pounds of pressure per square inch! Styli are made of ultra-hard materials to prevent premature wear. The Concorde MkII CLUB, for example, is made from pure diamond. Styli also come in various shapes. A spherical stylus picks up less surface noise than other shapes, but with inferior frequency response, higher distortion, and inferior phase response. An elliptical stylus like the Concorde MkII CLUB delivers superior audio performance but wears down faster than a spherical one. Many of the DJs here at Sweetwater prefer a spherical stylus for heavy back-cueing and scratching, but for high-fidelity listening and archiving, an elliptical is the way to go.

Ortofon Concorde MkII CLUB Features:

  • Delivers first-class sound quality for traditional vinyl playback
  • Special-Elliptic stylus has more contact area with the groove for improved detail and fidelity
  • 8mV output voltage requires less gain from your preamp for clean sound reproduction
  • Resistant to feedback during live performance
  • Outstanding platform for archival and sampling

Reviews

Absolutely astounding sounding cartridge
I like my vintage Pickering VX-15 but this Concorde mk2 Club is my new go-to as it just sounds so good in all aspects. Running it on a 1979 SL-1200MK2.
Worth Every Penny
This stylus really gets it done. Thanks to Sweetwater knowing what music people like, which is more music stuff, a pair of powered speakers and a nifty mixing board showed up and the fun began. There's been family karaoke nights and enough juice to crank things up wonderfully.

Then came my tired turntable setup…I got a decent pre-amp and ran it thru ch 3/4 (instead of rca ch). I was able to really fiddle with the sound but I hadn't replaced the stylus in quite a while lol. I settled on the ol' Ortofon here and it was night and day! The records are smooth and deep and just sound incredible. There's barely even cracks or pops which I'm guessing is magic. Like i said, worth every penny.

The best cartridge!
First of all, I want to thank Sweetwater for such an excellent job that my equipment arrives quickly, with a very good package and even with candy as a gift. Thank you very much and congratulations, you are the best!

About this cartridge I must say that I am and continue to be impressed, because after 10 years using the Ortofon DJ model I never imagined that the difference between one model and the other would be SO NOTABLE…. AND... IT'S A DIFFERENCE FROM HEAVEN TO EARTH!! I know that like me there are many gurus out there with the same idea that the ortofon DJ and the Ortofon Club sound almost the same and the truth is that they don't even have a comparison.

If what you are looking for is sound quality when playing your records or even listening to your LPs, Ortofon Club is undoubtedly the best cartridge to do so.

I could make a long technical explanation about the great comparison between each Ortofon model, but I'll leave it to your own judgment.

Thanks again Sweetwater for being my favorite store to buy my sound equipment.
Ortofon Club Concorde MK II
Recently I bought this cartridge and stylus for replacing a Stanton. The sound is great comparing with the Stanton, the audio output is louder and the sound is great in details and the bass is outstanding. Ortofon made and excellent product for DJs and for vynil fans, this product from my point of view is excellent.

By the I want to thank Frank from Sweetwater staff for his great customer service.
