Technology-laden Reference-quality IEMs

Earphone wearers searching to immersive sound and impeccable spatial imaging need look no further than 64 Audio U12t. You’ll enjoy resonance- and distortion-free listening thanks to U12t’s Tia system, while an Apex Core ensures effortless audio reproduction and minimal wearing fatigue. What’s more, LID technology ensures consistent sound regardless of what playback device you plug your earphones into. These universal-fit IEMs offer reference-level detail, with clean highs and warm, engaging lows. They boast an eye-grabbing look as well, with an ergonomic shell machined from a solid piece of aluminum and an elegant brushed-aluminum faceplate.

Distortion-free sound and long-wearing comfort

U12t delivers a first-class listening experience. Its Tia System minimizes unwanted resonances and distortion, delivering a transparent, lifelike sound. Its open-balanced armature Tia Drivers radiate freely into a single large Tia bore, resulting in zero obstructions to the front of the drivers. We’re impressed by this design here at Sweetwater. It offers a significant step up when compared to lesser designs that constrict the sound of their drivers by cramming them into a tube. What’s more, U12t’s Apex Core employs a patented vent that releases air pressure in a sealed ear canal, all while maintaining isolation. This ensures less obstructed airflow, giving you ultra-clean audio along with long-wearing comfort.

Consistent performance with any playback device

Armed with LID Technology, U12t accounts for the nonlinear impedances of the multiple driver-sets comprising its 12-driver design. This ensures proper interaction regardless of what you plug into. Whether you’re listening from a smartphone, bodypack, or headphone amplifier, your source material will sound the same.

Reviews

A Near-Perfect All-Rounder IEM — Scored an Incredible Deal from Sweetwater
The 64 Audio U12t is simply an outstanding IEM. It strikes a rare balance between top-tier technical performance and pure listening enjoyment. The level of detail retrieval is excellent, yet it never sounds analytical or fatiguing. While some listeners may prefer a more colored sound over strict accuracy, for me, this strikes an ideal balance between precision and musicality.

For an IEM, the soundstage is impressively spacious. It never feels congested or "inside the head," and there's a clear sense of width and openness that makes long listening sessions immersive and engaging.

What truly sets the U12t apart is that it's a true all-rounder. Rather than excelling in just bass, mids, or treble, it ensures every frequency range is handled exceptionally well. The result is a cohesive, balanced tuning that works beautifully across all genres.

The biggest reason I chose the U12t is comfort. The fit is excellent, and thanks to 64 Audio's Apex technology, there is no uncomfortable air pressure buildup inside the ear during extended listening sessions. This significantly reduces ear fatigue and is something truly unique to 64 Audio.

The tia driver, with its open, tubeless design, reduces resonance and contributes to a more open, natural soundstage. Working alongside Apex, it enhances clarity and realism without the closed-in feeling common with many IEMs.

I previously owned the Sony IER-Z1R, which sounded fantastic and definitely delivered stronger bass thanks to its large dynamic driver. That said, the U12t's bass is still excellent, especially considering it uses an all-balanced armature design. It's tight, controlled, and well-textured (especially with the M20 module, which it comes fitted with as the default), even if it doesn't quite match the sheer physical slam of the Z1R.

Another major improvement is the 2025 U12t packaging, which is now excellent and feels truly premium. It includes a beautiful leather case, all four apex modules (MX, M12, M15, and M20), two high-quality cables (one 3.5 mm single-ended and one 4.4 mm balanced), and a full set of ear tips for proper fit. The updated 2-pin connector also feels much more solid and confidence-inspiring. 64 Audio has clearly come a long way—earlier versions had fairly lackluster packaging and a noticeably more fragile 2-pin connector.

Finally, a huge thank you to Sweetwater for their exceptional customer service. Having a personal sales engineer makes the buying experience feel genuinely personal and human—something that truly sets Sweetwater apart from other retailers.

A special thank you to Corey May for providing excellent guidance, offering a great discount, and helping me make a confident purchasing decision. I also purchased the RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE, and based on this experience, I'll be buying all my future audio gear from Sweetwater whenever possible.

Outstanding products and outstanding service—keep up the excellent work!
Music background: I’m an audio enthusiast at heart, always chasing the feeling of getting lost in music or fully immersed in movies through a great home theater experience. I have a strong love for audio gear—headphones, IEMs, amplifiers—and a special appreciation for Gene
