A Superb Introduction to the Electric Guitar

The Squier Sonic Telecaster arms beginners with a solid instrument that retains the sound and style of the world’s first solidbody electric guitar. Ceramic Tele Single-Coil pickups at the neck and bridge unleash vintage Tele twang, while a 3-way pickup selector and master tone/volume controls introduce an impressive tonal palette that’s ready to sculpt the mood of any song or lesson. A poplar body keeps things lightweight, while the traditional “C”-shaped neck affords all players a comfortably classic grip for practicing and performing. The die-cast tuners, Telecaster Bridge, and control knobs all come finished in chrome for that legendary Telecaster visual shimmer, too. Plus, an assortment of iconic finishes gives every 6-string pupil a proper Tele aesthetic. If you’re looking for an exciting first electric guitar, there’s no better springboard than the Squier Sonic Telecaster.

Designed for comfort

Whether you’re shopping for a youngster or just trying to learn the tricks of the 6-string trade, the Sonic Telecaster offers a feel free of intimidation and discomfort. Starting with its lightweight poplar body, you’ll hardly notice the weight resting on your knee during seated sessions, while the bearing on your neck when standing is designed to be minimal. The maple neck’s “C”-shaped profile provides comfortable chording and the necessary forgiving nature to combat discouragement while learning the ropes. Paired with its Tele-standard 25.5-inch scale length, the Sonic Telecaster is about as perfect a representation of “trainable meets traditional” as you’ll find — even the factory .009-gauge strings are quick to get used to!

Patented single-coil sparkle

Why do guitar fanatics love the Tele? One big reason is its iconic sharp, sparkly single-coil sound. Equipped with a pair of Ceramic Tele Single-Coil pickups in the original Telecaster configuration, the Sonic Telecaster delivers in spades. From country to rock, alternative, and beyond, nothing beats the sculptability of single-coil tones, making for the perfect benchmark for blossoming beginners. (Sweetwater tip: the Sonic Telecaster can also produce a credible jazz tone — just roll-off the tone knob to taste.) Guitar legends like Jimmy Page, Bruce Springsteen, and Keith Richards have all favored that timeless Tele twang, and needless to say, it’s no mere coincidence!

Looking the part

Phenomenal feel? Check. Superb sound? Check. Stunning visuals? You bet! The Sonic Telecaster comes dressed in a variety of classic finishes, arming beginners with a legendary-looking instrument. Additional visual charm comes in the form of chrome hardware across the control knobs and plate, sealed die-cast tuning machines, and a 6-saddle Telecaster Bridge. Make no mistake, the Squier Sonic Telecaster has the sonic and visual makings for a spectacular springboard instrument — all for a price that’s virtually unbeatable!

Reviews

Very Nice for the Price

I have a 50 yo Fender Stratocaster I bought new, it's a beautiful guitar. This Squire Tele cost about $ than I paid for that Strat back i 1974. So how does this compare? Well, it's not a Fender.. the neck on the squire is not finished, but still has a nice feel to it. The paint is a simple blue (California Blue) with a gloss coat, but nothing too fancy.

It comes well protected in 3 boxes and a thick layer of bubble plastic. It's a cheap guitar, but they treated it as well as the more expensive Gretch I bought from them a few years ago.

I had to setup the neck. The truss was fine, but the bridge height needed some serious adjustment. The nut action is ok, I have not felt the need to lower it any. I have the files if I do. Intonation was simple. I really appreciate the newer style 6 saddle bridge (similar to the Strat) as opposed to the vintage 3 saddle version allowing isolated intonation for each string (with 3 saddles you have to compromise).

It shipped with a "9" string set. I prefer "10s" so I replaced the string. I also replaced the white pick guard for a black one. It really looks better in my opinion. For kicks (and the experisnce) I replaced the tuners with Fender locking tuners. Not really necessary as I felt the supplied enclosed tuners were fine. But I want to replace the tuners on the Strat so I wanted to practice once, lol.

Playing the guitar is nice. The frets are a little higher than I am used to and might need a bit of filing on the edges, but it's not bad.. I'm in no hurry. Added a set of Schaller strap locks and this guitar is good to play.

Amazed

I am amazed at how well this guitar was set up from factory I was able to set it up with the lowest action i have ever seen on a guitar no sharp fret ends no high frets the bridge saddles have a ton of room to lower and the entire guitar was flawless best $ ever spent buy one

Guitar for my sibling
Got this guitar for my sibling to help teach them guitar. For the price you can't beat it. Pick-ups are great, very versatile. Shipping time was lightning quick.
Okay but other brands way better for less money.
Nice color, nice pickups but the neck needs much work. The fetboard edges are very square and hard on the hand, the frets are not close to leveled and they go pass the fretboard which cuts the hand if you move too fast up or down the neck. Feels really bad.
