A Superb Introduction to the Electric Guitar

The Squier Sonic Telecaster arms beginners with a solid instrument that retains the sound and style of the world’s first solidbody electric guitar. Ceramic Tele Single-Coil pickups at the neck and bridge unleash vintage Tele twang, while a 3-way pickup selector and master tone/volume controls introduce an impressive tonal palette that’s ready to sculpt the mood of any song or lesson. A poplar body keeps things lightweight, while the traditional “C”-shaped neck affords all players a comfortably classic grip for practicing and performing. The die-cast tuners, Telecaster Bridge, and control knobs all come finished in chrome for that legendary Telecaster visual shimmer, too. Plus, an assortment of iconic finishes gives every 6-string pupil a proper Tele aesthetic. If you’re looking for an exciting first electric guitar, there’s no better springboard than the Squier Sonic Telecaster.

Designed for comfort

Whether you’re shopping for a youngster or just trying to learn the tricks of the 6-string trade, the Sonic Telecaster offers a feel free of intimidation and discomfort. Starting with its lightweight poplar body, you’ll hardly notice the weight resting on your knee during seated sessions, while the bearing on your neck when standing is designed to be minimal. The maple neck’s “C”-shaped profile provides comfortable chording and the necessary forgiving nature to combat discouragement while learning the ropes. Paired with its Tele-standard 25.5-inch scale length, the Sonic Telecaster is about as perfect a representation of “trainable meets traditional” as you’ll find — even the factory .009-gauge strings are quick to get used to!

Patented single-coil sparkle

Why do guitar fanatics love the Tele? One big reason is its iconic sharp, sparkly single-coil sound. Equipped with a pair of Ceramic Tele Single-Coil pickups in the original Telecaster configuration, the Sonic Telecaster delivers in spades. From country to rock, alternative, and beyond, nothing beats the sculptability of single-coil tones, making for the perfect benchmark for blossoming beginners. (Sweetwater tip: the Sonic Telecaster can also produce a credible jazz tone — just roll-off the tone knob to taste.) Guitar legends like Jimmy Page, Bruce Springsteen, and Keith Richards have all favored that timeless Tele twang, and needless to say, it’s no mere coincidence!

Looking the part

Phenomenal feel? Check. Superb sound? Check. Stunning visuals? You bet! The Sonic Telecaster comes dressed in a variety of classic finishes, arming beginners with a legendary-looking instrument. Additional visual charm comes in the form of chrome hardware across the control knobs and plate, sealed die-cast tuning machines, and a 6-saddle Telecaster Bridge. Make no mistake, the Squier Sonic Telecaster has the sonic and visual makings for a spectacular springboard instrument — all for a price that’s virtually unbeatable!

Squier Sonic Telecaster Electric Guitar- Black

It's a Beauty. Set up fm Sweetwater is perfect as is. I have not been able to put this one down since receiving, and I just recorded my best leads ever with it. A true joy to play and hold. Many happy playing hours ahead. I began teaching myself the electric guitar in 1962 (loved doing James Brown Horn Parts to start) and have not stopped learning since. Sweetwater Music is the Greatest! My other current Sweetwater guitars are a Dano 59'er Gold 6 string Plecked, a Dano 59'er Jade Bass Plecked, and a killer Fender Strat Lead Three. Thank you to Alex. I say to all, please get this TELE in Black.

What a surprise!!! And a good one :-)

This is my project guitar but it came so well setup that I can't put it down to do the planned upgrades! It feels nice, the weight is pretty much on and was super surprised at the neck in every aspect! You know when you play it for the first time and it just felt like home! Not crazy about buying Asian guitars but on a fixed income I can still have fun!!! Thanks Sweetwater

Squier Sonic Telecaster

I am very satisfied with my new Squier sonic telecaster. I've seen some reviews on YouTube where people were not satisfied. Some of the frets were not filed down properly and they didn't like the sound. But that was not the case with the Guitar I received. It was in nice condition and sounds great! Easily worth the $ I paid for it.

A great guitar for the price!
Recently getting back into guitar, the one I had wanted was back ordered for months. Rodney reached out and offered this as an alternative. It shipped that day and arrived at my house the next. Sounds great and plays well, will definitely buy another guitar from Sweetwater!
Hard to beat for the price!

Telecasters are fun guitars. They seem simple on the surface but they are extremely dynamic instruments. This Squier holds true to that and is exceptional for the price! I got rid of my first one but just bought a black one to soup up. It's the perfect beginner's guitar and sounds and feels great enough for any other level of player as well. Tuning stability is also to notch and it's very lightweight!

Keep in mind that if you're new to guitars these can be something you might need a setup on. The one I just got needed some relief on the truss rod and some saddle adjustments to fix some buzzing. These aren't difficult tasks to do but it's something to know about! Local music shops should have people available to help you out and setups can range from $ to over $ (usually somewhere in the middle, it shouldn't need much; don't get ripped off!) and I'm sure if you call Sweetwater they can lead you in the right direction as well. Also helps to put new strings on as soon as you get it!

I'm going to slap a black pearloid pick-guard on this thing and get to some serious pickin'!
