Midcentury Mojo in a Modern Tone Machine
Meticulously handcrafted to one‑of‑a‑kind specifications by Master Builder David Brown, this Fender Custom Shop Dual P-90 Stratocaster melds classic Fender design with bold Kalamazoo-inspired flourishes. This luxurious solidbody electric guitar boasts a 1-piece vintage Michigan mahogany body, which is given a Journeyman Relic nitro finish for an exquisite broken-in look and feel. Roasted to perfection, the quarter-sawn maple neck features a comfortable ’60s Oval C shape, bolstered by a ruler-flat 12-inch-radius AAA rosewood fingerboard with jumbo-sized frets. This Masterbuilt Stratocaster serves up the rough-hewn midrange grit and growl of a late-1950s, Kalamazoo-born electric guitar, courtesy of a pair of Custom Shop P-90 pickups. Additionally, this Strat comes equipped with a rock-solid 6-saddle hardtail bridge and vintage-style tuning machines. A 1-ply black phenolic pickguard, a bone nut, and like-new Closet Classic hardware round out this stunning musical instrument. For Fender enthusiasts with a deep appreciation for midcentury guitars crafted in the Great Lakes region, this Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Dual P-90 Stratocaster presents a rare and captivating blend of tradition and innovation.

Mahogany and maple in perfect harmony
An imaginative merging of a premium Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster with Kalamazoo-inspired elements, this instrument offers adventurous players nothing short of a thrilling 6-string experience. Built upon an exquisite vintage Michigan mahogany body, this Masterbuilt Strat is finished in striking Journeyman Relic nitrocellulose lacquer. Its comfortable quarter-sawn maple neck boasts a hand-cradling ’60s Oval C profile, while the 21-fret, 12-inch-radius AAA rosewood fingerboard ensures easy playability that will keep you coming back for more. Additionally, the neck has been roasted to optimal dryness, making it more resistant to humidity shifts and temperature changes than its non-roasted counterparts. Finally, the neck and fingerboard have received the same relic treatment as the body, giving this Stratocaster the playing feel of a well-seasoned, well-oiled classic.

This is what classic sounds like
When it comes to delivering exceptional tones, Sweetwater’s stable of Strat fanatics finds this Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Dual P-90 Stratocaster to be a bona fide classic. The duo of Custom Shop P-90 single-coil pickups infuses your playing with the muscular attack, fat grit, and snarling midrange bite of a late-1950s, Michigan-crafted electric guitar. Plugged into a high-gain tube amp, these pickups deliver grind, sizzle, and bark that humbuckers or other single-coils simply can't match. Finally, this exciting Strat boasts Master Volume and Master Tone knobs, along with a 3-way pickup selector switch.
Meet the Master Builder: Fender Custom Shop’s David Brown
Fender Custom Shop Master Builder David Brown began his musical journey in the late ’70s while still in middle school. By high school, he was playing in bands and learning guitar repair and construction at a local store in Anaheim. In the mid-’80s, he worked as a guitar technician for Yamaha Music Corp. Fast-forward to 2000, and David joined Fender, where he built new models and crafted instruments for various artists. By 2006, he was working in the Fender Custom Shop. After a brief departure in 2009, David returned to Fender in 2011 to manage the Fender Visitor Center. He later managed the G&L Custom Shop from 2017 to 2020. Now back with the Fender Custom Shop, David leverages his extensive guitar-building experience to craft instruments that are, in his words, “the industry standard when it comes to accuracy and feel for the musician.”
