An Affordable Take on the Classic '50s Strat

Celebrate the first decade of the Fender Stratocaster, with the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s. This vintage-style solidbody electric guitar offers the sound and style that made the Strat the iconic instrument that it is today. This updated model features many cool revisions that make it a better value than ever. It includes a trio of Fender-designed alnico single-coil pickups (including standard 5-way switching) that really capture the traditional Stratocaster sound. At Sweetwater, we're particularly impressed by the Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s' 1.65" bone nut — an exceptional addition to the classic C-shaped neck and 9.5"-radius fretboard, which provides the kind of sustain and performance you don't typically find on a budget-friendly guitar.

Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Features:

  • Includes 3 Fender-designed single-coil alnico pickups
  • 5-way blade switch lets you tap into a full range of tones
  • C-shaped maple neck provides unquestioned Strat performance
  • Standard 25.5"-scale length, 21-fret fingerboard with 9.5" radius
  • 1.65" bone nut delivers upgraded string-to-body resonance
  • 21 Narrow Tall frets are comfortable and easy to play
  • Outfitted with a Vintage-Style Synchronized Trem

Reviews

Squier CV 50's Strat Years Later

Now that this guitar has some age on it,I can give it a review. Made in November 2021 the neck has stayed very stable. Intonation and staying in tune is important to me. I have added a 4th spring to the tremolo system. The vintage style tuners work well, but a bit stiff. Action is set to Fenders recommended height and neck relief is set slightly lower. All notes ring out with No Buzz. Soundwise the CV50 is a bit thinner compared to my 2010 American Special with Texas Special pickups but still gives me an authentic Strat Sound. I have had to replace the volume control (mini pot) with a $ Fender pot (CTS).I had to enlarge the hole to 3/8. No problems since. Overall I like Fender/Squier equipment. I have been playing guitar since 1967 and have Vintage Equipment that I bought new. I use this guitar for worship at church. Unless you are a professional, I believe this CV50 is a good playing guitar that you will have for years. In fact I have a CV50 Telecaster from Sweetwater scheduled to get here in a couple of days. Thanks Nich.

Music background: Have played since 1967. Repaired guitars, tube amps, PA and Tape Machines.
sick and cool first guitar
Pretty nice for a beginner i'd say. Everything works well
Nice Strat for the money
For starters im in my 50s and getting back into guitar. I have a tele and now a strat. This strat is great for the price range. Bone nut and gloss aged maple neck look great. Great strat sound with alnico pickups.the neck is more modern c shape. I think the only thing ill upgrade is the pots...not very responsive but what do you expect for price range. Upgrade pots and switch and still way under the price of an
entry level fender strat and this has a bone nut from the get go...not on fenders entry level. Like the vintage tuners look as well. The fret ends are pretty nice as well for the price. All and all a really good guitar.
Can't go wrong...
Disclaimer, I'm a bassist, not a guitarist, so take what I say for what it's worth.

I bought this guitar as a "loaner" for guitarists to use if they didn't bring one and wanted something familiar but versatile. I modified this strat with an Ibanez DYNAMIX-8 switching system and everyone seems to love it all the tones they can get out of it.

Best bang for the buck and a great platform if you want to build on top of it. From what I can tell, the quality is excellent from finish to setup.

Great strat
I love my new classic vibe strat. I'm in my 50s, the kids are out of the house and now I have more time to play guitar. I already owned a tele but wanted a new strat since I gave my old one to my kid. I loved the look of the classic vibe with the aged neck and classic tuners. When I got it it didn't disappoint. The fret work is great and the neck edge is rolled over…nice touch. It came in tune and stays in tune quite nicely for having a Trem and not a hard tail. The pickups are alnicos so gives it that strat sound. I got to be honest and say I did upgrade the electronics…it does come with dime size pots. Not a huge upgrade in price or time but it does make a difference with larger pots. A new pearloid pickguard as well with the electronics upgrade. Oh and also it comes with a bone nut…entry level fenders do not. All and all if you want a great strat and don't care if it says Fender on the headstock this is a great guitar to own.
