Own a Slice of Strat History

Getting a Fender Custom Shop Historic 1959 Stratocaster NOS in your hands is a bit like jumping into a time machine. The feel and tone of this custom guitar are that of a well-maintained early-’50s Stratocaster that takes you back to the birth of popular rock and roll, country, and blues. The luthiers at Fender's Custom Shop truly give attention to every detail in bringing you a classic Stratocaster, one of the most recorded, most used, iconic electric guitars since its debut in 1950. From its birth, the Stratocaster established itself as a guitar with a huge sonic range, eminent playability, and a timeless look. The Fender Custom Shop Historic 1959 Stratocaster NOS has been designed and updated to bring you the best of the past as well as the present. This 1959 Stratocaster NOS body is made from a 2-piece select alder body — the same time-tested tonewood that many Strats have been made from since 1954. A 1-piece, tinted rift-sawn maple neck with ’59 C back shape is a throwback to some of the original neck designs of ’50s Strats and feels incredible in your hands. A trio of hand-wound, ’59 Strat pickups provides that incredible Strat tonal range and style — spanky, sparkling treble, thick, fully rounded midrange, and low-end growl that has made the Strat beloved by players like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.

You can feel it

As soon as you hold the Fender Custom Shop Historic 1959 Stratocaster NOS in your hands, you'll know you have something truly special. The luthiers at the Fender Custom Shop have attended to every detail to bring you an instrument that harkens back to the early days of the electric guitar. The contoured alder body is the same iconic shape and feel that launched a revolution in 1954. The guitar's NOS flash-coat lacquer finish also adds a truly vintage look to this exquisite instrument. Other classic details include 21 Jescar 50085 frets, an American Vintage synchronized tremolo, a 5-way switch, and vintage-style tuning machines with Fender logos — all details that add to the feel, the look, and the sound of this wonderful Strat.

Fender Custom Shop electronics

A vintage Strat wouldn't be complete without the signature sound of a pair of hand-wound, ’59 Strat pickups. When the Fender Strat first appeared, players and audiences alike were blown away by the amazing tonal range of the single-coil pickups that drove their amplified tone. It was a sound that launched an era in country, rock, and blues, inspiring players of all stripes for decades. Even to this day, up-and-coming players, as well as seasoned players, seek out the sound and feel of a vintage Strat. Sweetwater guitarists agree: the Fender Custom Shop Historic 1959 Stratocaster NOS is a superb Strat to add to any player's collection.

Reviews

Amazing Vintage 1959
I just bought this guitar 5 days ago, WOW, I have really enjoyed playing it. Great tone. I tried a few of the other relic custom shop Stratocasters but this NOS felt best for me. I have several high end guitar and I am used to flatter 12 inch radius necks, however this compound 7.25 to 9.5 inch radius neck actually feels great. Something about this guitar has the "it" factor. These chocolate 3-color sunbursts are pretty hard to find so I think they will hold their value and become good investments as well. No buyer remorse at all.
Music background: Many years
My First Fender Custom Shop
Not disappointed. Just the opposite. Wow! Beautiful guitar. The details and finish are immediately out of the case noticeably better than my other Strats. The tone in all positions is excellent. This is what a Strat should look, feel, and sound like. I've gotta mention that Jim Swain is excellent to work with and Sweetwater has been the best place for me to buy a sight unseen guitar. I recently bought a guitar elsewhere, only because Sweetwater was sold out, and the experience was less than...and the guitar showed up with fingerprints, smudges and light scratches. Always impressed with the customer service and care from Jim and Sweetwater and the condition of the guitars I receive. Right down to the double box packaging.
Fantastic Service and an Awesome Guitar!!!
I got the urge, once again, to find a Rosewood FB Strat, so I made a multi-hour trip to Sweetwater to look at a few, including a couple of Custom Shop items. Had exceptional service from two fantastic salesmen. They took their time with me, helped me to compare the guitars based on what I was looking for. Took the time to actually play the guitars so that I could listen to them more objectively and factor that in with my own playing experience. Came away with one of the best strats (for me) that I have ever played. I've played several Custom Shop Strats and this is the first one that I've connected with. And I learned a long time ago, not to let those go if I could possibly afford it.

Fantastic service and an awesome guitar that I don't think I'll ever part with. I'm normally not one to have salesmen help me because I've had experience with salesmen just wanting to make the sale and saying whatever it takes. Not the case here! I will definitely go back and happily take the help and leverage the knowledge and product experience which Sweetwater offers.

Thank you!
