Aggressive Tone, Custom Looks

If you're like us at Sweetwater, you look back on the Superstrat movement of the ’80s with a certain fondness. Inspired by the hot-rodded S-style axes of years past, the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E is a bona fide shredder. It's got the Southern California look, screaming Seymour Duncan pickups, and a silky-smooth compound radius ebony fingerboard. The So-Cal comes loaded with a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo for achieving wild dive-bombs and squeals without getting knocked out of tune. Plus, you'll be impressed by the comfortable contours and blazing fast feel of the neck. If you're in the market for a fire-breathing axe that you can pull right off the shelf, the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E is your first choice.

Screaming Seymour Duncan Humbuckers

The Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E comes equipped with a pair of Seymour Duncan pickups for a high-output, aggressive flavor packed sweeping tonal versatility. First up, the bridge position sports a screaming TB-6 Duncan Distortion Humbucker — a model that more than lives up to its name, with a clear bell-like character that shines through even when chunking out ultra-high-gain drop-tuned riffs. Plus, the TB-6’s natural-sounding midrange, tight bass, and clear trebles deliver a fluid, vocal-like character that’s perfect for melodic work and rapid-fire soloing. Looking to dial down the gain? The neck-position SH-6N provides enough output to balance well with the bridge-position TB-6, but produces a slightly less aggressive tone that’s perfect for your cleaner moments.

Compound-radius Charvel Speed Neck

Every facet of the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E’s maple Speed Neck is primed for high-speed performance, but while it’s certainly on the leaner side, it’s by no means strictly limited to single-note solo applications. In fact, Sweetwater guitarists of all stripes have come to favor the wide “U”-shape of the Speed Neck — especially as the ebony fingerboard’s 12–16-inch compound radius offers comfortable chording down low, while simultaneously facilitating fleet-fingered technicality as it flattens out in the upper register.

Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo for extra sonic exploration

Unlock greater playing potential with the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E. It comes loaded with a real-deal Floyd Rose 1000 series locking tremolo system. When you play, use it for anything from subtle vibrato to full-on dive-bombs — it'll still be in tune and ready to go again. Whether you use it or abuse it, you'll have trouble knocking the Floyd Rose tremolo bridge out of tune.

The Pro-Mod Story

Charvel's Pro-Mod series guitars rock classic Charvel style, born in Southern California more than three decades ago. These axes are packed with the hot-rodded, high-performance features artists rely on: classic body styles, premium tonewoods, unfinished oiled necks, smooth, rolled fingerboard edges, scorching pickups, rock-solid bridges, and more. Take it from the guitar aficionados at Sweetwater: get your hands on a Pro-Mod, and you won't let go.

Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HH FR E Electric Guitar Features:

Reviews

First Time Charvel Player/Owner
I've played a lot of guitars but never have I played something like this! Charvel makes amazing guitars. I am so happy with my purchase, if i could I would buy another and another!

The finish on the guitar was absolutely beautiful! I wasn't sure how the neck would be because they are listed with a Charvel "unique shape" or "speed-neck" and it really is between a standard Fender and a Ibanez. Just perfect for me and I think many others as well, super comfortable. The finish on the back on the neck is amazing and is quick and smooth. Fretwork was great, I found a few uneven spots down the neck towards the pickups, but there were no buzzes or weird noises/unable to play notes at all. Set up was just about spot on out of the box, I only had to make adjustments for the intonation on the top E string and a small neck adjustment after it acclimated for a few weeks.

Sweetwater had this thing polished up very nicely. This was my first time buying a guitar through sweetwater and they will be my go-to from now on for any new guitar purchases.

If you are thinking about buying this Charvel or any Charvel, you will not be disappointed. I can't put this thing down!
My favorite guitar
I have a vintage Les Paul, a PRS 408, several Ibanez burners, and so on, and this is my favorite guitar ever. It is Stratty enough, goes super clean with split coils, does blues great, but gets super nasty when that is required. And that's why I bought this guitar anyway. This guy into a Keeley Compressor, a Wampler Pinnacle, and a Wampler EQ gives brown sound with harmonics anywhere you want them. I had Sweetwater perform a professional setup, also, which might be one of the reasons why I love it, but whatever.
Almost perfect

The guitar plays like a million bucks. The neck is very comfortable and that comes from a person with almost small hands that get hands fatigue after playing a lot with chuncky necks. The floyd after the strings are set works like a nuclear clock. The only thing i think i will have to change is the 3 way blade. It doesn't slide fast. It gets stuck on each position. Its my second Charvel super strat and for the money i think i will stay buying Charvels instead of Fender strats.
