A Stunning Update on a Modern Classic

Yamaha’s Revstar Element RSE20 is an update of the original Revstar series of guitars, refined to offer improved comfort and even more striking visuals! This curvy double-cut’s lightweight chambered mahogany body is loaded with two Yamaha Alnico V humbuckers that deliver a versatile tonal palette with a rich midrange punch. Need a way to cut through a dense mix? Sweetwater guitarists find that the Revstar’s high-pass “Dry” switch has much of the same articulation-boosting qualities of a good coil-split — but without any hum. If you’re looking for a high-performance, no-nonsense axe with explosive tones, rock-solid playability, and sleek modern aesthetics, you'll be in your element with the Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20.

Comfortably curved Revstar body

The Revstar’s curvy lines and classic aesthetics are said to be inspired by the utilitarian British Café racer motorbikes found in 1960s-era London, adding a tough no-frills attitude to these sleek guitars. The unique double-cut chambered body was developed using Yamaha’s Acoustic Design process to optimize the Revstar’s balance, deliver a resonant tone, and reduce weight. One strum of the RSE20 is all it takes to see how Yamaha’s research paid off: the Revstar’s body is a supremely comfortable design that showcases Yamaha’s steadfast dedication to musical innovation!

Punchy Alnico V pickups

A pair of Yamaha’s Alnico V humbucking pickups equips the RSE20 with a versatile tonal palette, perfect for both decidedly modern high-gain tones, classic grit, and everything in between! The RSE20’s dual humbuckers, set-neck design, and mahogany body form a classic combo, boasting boatloads of sustain with a pronounced boost in the mid frequencies.

Turn up the clarity with Yamaha's “Dry” switch

When creating the Revstar, Yamaha were inspired to create something fresh and distinct. So, instead of including a coil-split, the RSE20 sports a high-pass push-pull “Dry” switch. This switch is purposely built to kick up your RSE20’s definition by tightening up your low end and sharpening your trebles. Just like a traditional coil-split, this drastically increases clarity and cutting power — but without any of the hum associated with a single-coil pickup!

Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20 Electric Guitar Features:

  • Ultra-comfortable and lightweight chambered mahogany body
  • Mahogany set neck with double-cutaway offers incredible upper fret access
  • 2 Dual Alnico V humbucking pickups produce a classic full-range humbucker punch with a rich midrange
  • Yamaha push-pull high-pass “Dry” switch tightens up your low-end and treble for increased sonic clarity

Reviews

Great Guitar
Love this guitar, out of all my guitars it is my "go to" guitar. I bought the blue one. Maybe for X-mass I'll get another one in white or black. Two weeks before I bought this I bought a Gretsch 5427 which I really like but find myself grabbing the Revstar instead of the Gretsch most of the time.
Best kept secret in Guitars
After seeing Mattteo Mancuso playing a Yamaha Revstar and finding only stellar reviews online, I ordered the Revstar from Sweetwater. You know when you pick up a guitar out of its case for the first time you can feel and see the quality of the instrument and I was more than impressed. Its solid feel, the resonance, and the sustain was as good or better than any PRS I was considering buying. The amazing thing was the Revstar was less than half the cost. This guitar is one of the best kept secrets in the guitar market today. Kevin S.
Modern Playability, Retro Style
Needed a little setup when it arrived, but as soon as I got the neck relief and action to where I liked it, it was a dream. It'd be ridiculous for any company to sell a guitar this good for less than $, but here we are. The most striking thing upon opening up the package was the finish. You'd be hard pressed to find a finish this nice on a fender or gibson that's 3 times the price. It looks great. More importantly though, it plays great and sounds great. I managed to get the action fairly low but with little buzz. It rings out loud and clear whether I'm picking above the 12th fret or if I'm strumming lush cowboy chords. Throw some OD or fuzz on it and the sound is transported to the classic double humbucker style heard on thousands of records. It can growl like a les paul, but you can get glassy highs out of it too like it's a strat. Extremely versatile. If you're looking at this one, I'd recommend seriously considering the next price tier, for the extra doodads like the 5 way selector. But if you're set on this price, you will not regret it. You will get a guitar as solid as any $ offering.

Blown Away
Insanely good guitar. For the money, you absolutely cannot do better. This thing is a beast! So much versatility, incredibly smooth fretboard, and looks great. I feel like I'd be hard pressed to find something that sounds this good within $1000 price range.
This guitar is ridiculous awesome.
How Yamaha can sell this at $ is truly amazing Finish is gorgeous, fret board is silky smooth, tone quality is better than my high-end Fenders. I'm absolutely in love with this instrument.
