Paul Reed Smith’s Mastery — Realized

A culmination of Paul Reed Smith’s guitar-crafting mastery, the PRS Paul’s Guitar brims with sonic flexibility, sublime playability, and — in true PRS fashion — head-turning looks. Moreover, this limited-edition model is elevated by a spellbinding figured mango top and a premium-quality ziricote fingerboard, all without altering the classic feel and tone of Paul’s original design. Built on a solid mahogany foundation, this solidbody electric guitar features two TCI pickups, delivering rich, snarling humbucker tones with exceptional note clarity, bolstered by dual EQ mini-toggle switches inspired by the 2023 Private Stock John McLaughlin model. Pick it up, and you’ll discover that the Mango Top Paul’s Guitar is as enjoyable to play as it is to gaze at, thanks to its performance-enhancing Pattern neck carve, robust PRS Stoptail Bridge with brass inserts, and Phase III non-locking tuners. The natural body binding, PRS Old School Birds fingerboard inlays, inlaid headstock signature, gleaming nickel hardware, and gloss nitro finish complete the exquisite look of the limited-edition PRS Paul's Guitar.

Built to be played

It goes without saying that the figured mango top on Paul’s Guitar is glorious to behold, but this solidbody electric guitar wasn’t built solely to be stared at — it was built to be played. Don’t believe us? Pick it up! This instrument’s mahogany neck boasts PRS’s eminently comfortable Pattern shape, an exceptionally comfortable profile inspired by one of Paul’s earliest pre-factory shapes: the Wide Fat Pattern. It’s a slightly substantial neck that never feels too hefty, complete with a fast glide and a carve that perfectly conforms to the natural bend of your hand. It’s a favorite among guitarists of all stripes, endorsed by such legendary guitarists as Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese of Heart fame.

Ear-grabbing TCI pickups

The PRS Paul’s Guitar is equipped with a pair of exceptional TCI (Tuned Capacitance and Inductance) pickups. The guitar’s hot bridge pickup is perfect for deploying leads infused with fat, snarling tone, and if you back off the Volume control, it cleans up beautifully. Switch to the neck pickup, hit a chord, and you'll hear the articulation of each note, even in high-gain situations. These pickups are complemented by dual mini-toggle EQ switches that act as tuned highpass filters. Inspired by the 2023 Private Stock John McLaughlin model, these switches remove shelved low end, allowing high frequencies to shine through for added clarity.

First-class hardware

If you’re anything like the guitarists here at Sweetwater, you’ll surely appreciate the pride the team at PRS takes in each guitar, and in no model is this dedication more evident than in Paul's Guitar. Take its PRS Stoptail Bridge, for example. Reinforced by brass inserts, this superior design takes full advantage of the resonant properties of the guitar’s premium tonewoods, providing direct transmission of string vibrations to the body. Moreover, it delivers spot-on stability, even in extreme note-bending scenarios. You’ll also appreciate this guitar’s Phase III non-locking tuners, which further enhance your tuning stability and imbue Paul's Guitar with a classic aesthetic that’s guaranteed to please any vintage guitar aficionado.

You don't even have to play guitar to know that PRS instruments are in a league of their own. With their exquisitely figured tops and premium appointments, each PRS is a playable work of art. But it goes way deeper than the surface. Every time Paul visits Sweetwater, we get a deeper look at his amazing instruments. We've even hosted several PRS Custom Shop events, complete with Paul's personal Wood Library! Whether they're his most affordable SE electric guitars, top-quality acoustics, or amps, it's always amazing to see what PRS comes up with. What's more, we keep a ton of PRS guitars in our amazing Guitar Showroom, so the staff at Sweetwater can get hands on with all of their latest models. We'd love to tell you all about them.
