Affordable Attenuation for Your High-powered Amp

Bugera's PS1 is a 100-watt tube amplifier attenuator that helps you achieve thick cranked-amp tone at much more manageable volumes. By placing it between your tube amp's speaker output and your speaker, you can turn your amp to its max, while bringing the volume down via the PS1. The attenuator's Emulated Mic Output simulates the feel and sound of a great speaker cab and sends that tone direct to the console — perfect for recording or live performance without a mic. If you love the sound of your amp cranked up, you'll want to put a Bugera PS1 in your collection.

Stadium tone at bedroom levels

Tube amp volume levels are an issue we all deal with. Our amps need to get to a sweet spot for them to perform their best. Unfortunately, those sweet spots can be prohibitively loud. Not with the Bugera PS1 passive power attenuator. You're able to send your tube amp's full power signal into the PS1, while taming the volume to a whisper without affecting your tone.

Miked tone without the microphone

The Bugera PS1 comes complete with a speaker-cabinet-emulated XLR direct output. This means, by running a standard XLR cable from this output directly to your console, you can record or perform with the sound of a well-recorded speaker cabinet without having a microphone onstage. Sweetwater players find this incredibly useful for effortlessly recording great tones.

Works great with impulse responses

Around back, you'll also find a 1/4" line output that does not offer speaker emulation. Recording guitarists who often work with impulse response emulations will love this feature. You'll send the direct tone of your amp's power section to your console or interface. Then you can pull up your favorite speaker or cab impulse response in your DAW to dial in your tone to perfection — all without a screaming guitar cab waking the neighbors.

Bugera PS1 Passive 100-watt Power Attenuator Features:

  • Offers cranked tones from your amp without oppressive volume levels
  • Emulated XLR output offers miked-up tones without the microphone
  • 1/4" line output allows for the use of speaker impulse responses in your DAW
  • Handles up to 100 watts of tube power
  • Inputs for 4, 8, and 16 ohms handle any tube amp
  • Soak control handles the PS1's speaker volume
  • Line control handles the 1/4" line output volume

Reviews

Great value. Great quality.
Works great. It feels well made. The volume knob has a slight click that helps you dial it in.
Music background: Hobby
Exceeded my expectations!
Used today (first time) with my Fender Deluxe Reissue for recording. I was planning to build an isolation box because the amp is so loud but after reading reviews, thought I'd give the PS1 a try. I miced it with an SM 57 up close and an MXL condenser in the room. On 7-8 ( a level I couldn't even use at a gig with a full band), the amp broke up nicely and I captured exactly the sound I wanted with my 1990 strat plus on input 1.
The device is actually built better and heavier than it appears in the reviews and I had absolutely NO HEAT in the Bugera. I have a feeling that folks who claim too much heat might be trying to use a mic cord not a speaker cable to connect the amp to the box as recommended.
AMAZING!! If you have a tube amp, BUY THIS NOW!
I will try to keep this short and sweet. I took a chance on this product even though I wasn't entirely sure it would work with my setup. This is more for a typical head —> cabinet situation. My rig is currently a Vox AC10 going into an EVH 5150 2x12. It has an external speaker out on the back that basically turns it into a very large head. I wasn't sure it would work with this, but it has been PERFECT. The tones I get at acceptable home volumes is incredible. It gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for in my tone being able to crank the volume and really push my AC10 without my ears bleeding. I know 10 watts doesn't seem like a lot, but I couldn't turn my volume up past 2-2.5 without it being uncomfortable. While the box does get warm, that is actually what it is supposed to do, and it hasn't ever gotten what I would call "hot". Nothing much above electronics generated heat in a game system or computer or something. I can't believe this is sold for the price it is at. It's the cheapest option on the market, but does its job perfectly. I can't ever be without one now that I've experienced tone heaven.
Great!
I bought this on sale to use with my little Orange Micro Dark (20 watts.) It allows me to crank up the gain and get that awesome tube crunch sound out of this little amp! Work very well, is easy to use, and is a great price!
Does what it's supposed to do
I couldn't resist. I have a harley Benton power soak which I was using on my marshall jcm 900 but then I started using it on my marshall dsl20hr amp which has a 20 watt or 10 watt option but I'm trying to crank my amps and only way to do that in my home is with a power soak. Must have for any high gain tube amp. Now I have my HB power soak on my jcm 900 and this burgera power soak on my dsl20hr it's perfect set up fo for me.
