Superior Performance and Sophisticated Style

Charvel’s Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HT HH is a stylish and versatile guitar that’s ready to unleash waves of crashing overdrive and scorching lead lines — but it’s also down for some chilled-out clean-tone chime. Spec’d for superior performance, the Pro-Mod So-Cal is packed with two Fishman Fluence Open Core Classic pickups that offer up a range of classic and modern rock and metal tones beloved by guitarists at Sweetwater. The premium hardware package — including a Charvel HT6 string-through-hardtail bridge, sealed die-cast tuners, and Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut — keeps things intoned, in-tune, and ready to shred. A do-it-all axe, the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HT HH electric guitar excels in every playing style — once you pick it up, you’ll never want to put it down!

Cali cool with attitude

The Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2’s classic body shape and chrome hardware exhibit a laid-back Cali style with a heavy dose of Charvel attitude. An alder body contributes to the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2’s full-bodied tone, which soars above the mix and is reinforced with a pronounced midrange and tight low end. Made from stunning caramelized maple with a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish, the guitar’s “Speed neck” is designed for extreme comfort and lightning-fast fretwork on its 24-fret fingerboard. Plus, the Pro-Mod So-Cal’s string-through-body hardtail bridge and Graph Tech TUSQ XL combine for extraordinary tuning stability.

Fluence Open Core Classic pickups give you endless tonal options

With the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HT HH Fluence’s Fishman Fluence active pickups, you’re able to harness several decades of the most sought-after rock and metal tones ever mined. With the tug of a pot, you will have access to three distinctly different voices for each pickup:

  • Neck V1: a clear, vintage-sounding PAF humbucker
  • Neck V2: an airy chime with plenty of sweetness
  • Neck V3: the quack and spank of a classic single-coil
  • Bridge V1: a bridge-position PAF with extra output
  • Bridge V2: a muscular, hot-rodded humbucker
  • Bridge V3: an overwound single-coil for Texas blues to screaming leads

Unlike other wire-wound pickups, Fluence Open Core Classics deliver these classic voicings without noise or inductance issues. Discover for yourself why many guitarists at Sweetwater trust their axes to the Fluence system — check out the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HT HH.

The Pro-Mod story

Charvel’s Pro-Mod series guitars rock classic Charvel style, born in Southern California more than three decades ago. Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HT HH Features:

Reviews

A versatile guitar.
I wanted a "do everything" guitar and I didn't want to spend American Fender prices. I wanted a Telecaster for blues but I also wanted a P90 Yamaha Revstar for rock and something that could play metal. This Charvel with those crazy Fishman pickups can do it all. It also has the most comfortable neck I have ever played. The frets are a bit tall for my 9's, but that is a user problem and it is helping me soften my touch.

The solid bridge and locking tuners ensure tuning stability. Overall a great guitar that I keep reaching for.
Great Guitar
This has become my main player over the summer. I have spent at least 100 hours playing it. Here are the pros: excellent neck (just feels really nice), heel carve pick ups are great, as is the hardware, and of course the sound.
Neutral: the color…I think it is cool, but it is a radical departure from my traditional guitars of the past. It also shimmers with a pearly pink in certain lights.
Cans: not a fan of the upside down headstock. I am over it, but it is not my cup of tea.
Active pick ups-I get paranoid about the battery drawing. I either have to unplug it when I am not using it, or simply pull the coil tap which disengages the battery to the pickups.
All that said, this guitar is worth its weight in gold. I would replace it if something happened to it. I am even considering the tremolo version.
Music background: Sort of
Tele from Hellee
I've been playing guitar my whole life this particular guitar I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and it is the telly from helly charvel's got it and always has.
Music background: Rock, metal, Funk, Rockabilly .
Excellent Guitar, but not perfect
I have had this guitar for a couple of weeks. Overall, it's impressive.

The neck shape is a typical Charvel "speed neck", which is why I buy Charvel's. However, I've noticed that the neck finish on the MIM Charvels, including this one, is not as smooth and glossy as the USA Charvels. I also have a 90's MIJ Jackson Pro Soloist which has a smooth, glossy, "butter neck" finish. The neck finish on this guitar is not as nice. However, the fretwork on the neck is exceptional.

The guitar is comfortable to play. The body shape is nice. I like the forearm comfort cut. The bridge is unobtrusive, which is perfect for palm muting. I also like the gloss finish much better than the matt finish on the USA Select guitars. All of my other guitars are white or black. I wanted something different this time. I love blue color.

The Fishman Fluence pickups are interesting. I didn't know if I would like them. I do like them. The up position provides a 1970's Les Paul-like sound. The down position provides an 80's metal tone. I usually don't use any pedals. The guitar sounds amazing through my EVH 5150 6l6.

Overall, I'm happy with the guitar. But I wish the neck had a smoother finish like my USA Select SoCal or my MIJ Jackson Pro Soloist.
Ergonomically my favorite guitar of all time
They say that the best guitar is the one you keep reaching for, and that's what this thing is. I have far more expensive guitars but this is what I keep reaching for because it feels so good to hold and play. It is very difficult to put down. I might pick up two more. One hart tail to replace its electronics with some vintage tone and higher gauge strings, and another with the tremolo for high gain music.
