Passive Volume Control for Amplified In-ears

The Behringer Powerplay PM1 restores freedom of movement to the in-ear user. This completely passive box is tiny, requires no power, and lets you control your in-ear volume from your hip. Every part of the PM1 is designed to withstand the rigors of the road, from the smooth volume pot to the overbuilt metal chassis and belt clip. Sweetwater reviewers were impressed with the locking XLR input, which keeps foot traffic and stage mishaps from disconnecting your monitor source. Best of all, the Behringer Powerplay PM1 uses a standard 3.5mm output jack to drive in-ears, headphones, or earbuds.

Note: the PM1 is just a level control. You'll still need a headphone amp to drive your monitors. Contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for more information.

Reviews

Pm1
Llego muy bien
What you see is what you get!
I have experience using the PM1 because there are a lot of backline compannies that supplies this headphone amplifier on stage, is cheap and works great. I decided to have my own PM1, I bought a demo version here on Sweetwater and it was perfectly fine, like factory new actually. The knob feels like pro gear, the XLR female input is great too and the metal case is well made, the size is perfect, fits in your gig bag, backpack or whatever you have. I tested during a show and it performs really nice.

Now I have 2 more on the way. Thanks Sweetwater!

Solid, Perfect Product
This is what most small, live bands need for their IEM needs. Forget wireless and just go wired; solves a lot of issues. This is all metal and solid. Fits the need perfectly. Nice belt clip and an XLR cable lock.

Good for what it is
Wanted a more streamlined solution to our ears and hopefully eliminating some of the cable clutter with our current system. The xlr clipping straight in without the need for aux extensions is great. Build is really nice and really the noise ceiling is non existent, but… and a big but.

You only get that very clean sound when you are running it from a dedicated headphone amp. If you run them direct from a console bus, while you can get them loud, a side by side comparison with an amped signal for the keen eared you will hear a difference. Sound will be slightly thinner and the clarity falls off.

That being said the difference is fairly minor maybe 5-10% less clarity which for what this unit is meant to do is honestly pretty good. You will have to crank the gain sends, you will lose a bit of clarity, but as a backup set or even for those who just want a quick and easy solution they do the job.
Perfect little tool.
This is the perfect little tool for plug and mix monitoring. I was able to send a mono mix to each of the band members giving them a reference they could follow along with.
