An Iconic Bass Built for Any Player

From the early 1950s to today, one bass throughout the history of popular music has seen more recording time than perhaps any other: the Precision Bass. Designed to ignite that first spark of inspiration, the Squier Sonic Precision Bass provides a solid foundation for any budding bassist that grows with them throughout their life. The combination of a single pickup with a maple neck emits the foundational sonic punch that catapulted the P Bass to its legendary status, while the lightweight poplar body and laurel fingerboard offer a comfortable, unencumbered playing experience. With such performance features as a rigid chrome bridge, sealed die-cast tuners, and a synthetic bone nut, this 4-string powerhouse is reliable enough for Sweetwater’s bass players to take directly to the stage. Simplistic in nature but far from ordinary, the Sonic Precision Bass serves as a fantastic gateway into the world of bass guitar, whether you’re discovering music or creating it.

Iconic sound, modernized with ceramic

The sound of the Precision Bass’s split single-coil pickup has fueled countless rhythm sections, spanning vastly different styles and genres, including hard rock, pop, reggae, and punk. Achieving pop-punk’s trebly plink, metal’s heavy chugs, or even reggae’s thick, wide thud is fast and easy with just a few tweaks to the Sonic Precision Bass’s Tone control. This spread of versatile tones gets a final punchy boost from the pickup’s modern ceramic magnets. Expect familiar sounds, but with extra heft, whether you’re plugging into a traditional amplifier or a recording interface.

Comfortable and fast maple neck

With its satin-finished maple neck and smooth laurel fingerboard, the Squier Sonic Precision Bass is a fast-fretting player across all 20 frets. From pros to beginners, bassists value the slick playability these tonewoods provide. The Sonic Precision Bass’s neck features a C-shape profile, a modern standard that’s comfortable for most players. Finally, the snappy character of the maple neck gives the Sonic Precision Bass the essence that’s remained a staple of iconic bass tones throughout history.

Squier Sonic Precision Bass Features:

  • Authentic Precision Bass style and tone for any player
  • Solid poplar body with a gloss finish looks fantastic in any stage lighting
  • C-shaped maple neck with laurel fingerboard facilitates playing comfort across all 20 frets
  • Ceramic split single-coil pickup produces classic P Bass tone enhanced with modern components
  • Volume and Tone controls yield a wide range of sounds
  • Durable chrome bridge and sealed die-cast tuners ensure proper tuning stability
  • Synthetic bone nut consistently enriches string resonance

Reviews

Nice guitar, but:
It showed up with a bent volume knob.
The connection for the amp cable was so loose I had to wiggle it, and hold the guitar "just so", to get a connection to the amp.
The action was "sky high", and barely playable.

But it was real affordable. :-)

I took it to my favorite guitar guy, Clinton Guitar" in Clinton, NJ, instead of sending it back. I was going to do that anyway, as I wanted a set of flat wound strings.

No biggie, it wasn't a Fender Precision Bass, and it will be home soon. But if I was living somewhere where guitar service and/or the PO wasn't in happy driving distance, I'd be hostile.
Music background: Playing long enough to have a half dz guitars that came home in better shape.
