Almighty Low-end Punch

The Squier Contemporary Active Precision Bass brings you the classic heart-pumping thunder that enthralls audiences and adds glorious low-end to recordings. This bass comes equipped with a resonant poplar body and sports an easy playing roasted maple neck and Indian laurel fingerboard. Eyeing those pickups? This Squier’s tone bursts forth from a SQR ceramic humbucker and split single-coil cocktail that weaves through a myriad of differing tonal fields. Explore your desired tones with the blend, tone, and bass/treble boost knobs. Take it from bassists at Sweetwater, this Precision Bass is a sweet deal for that almighty low-end thump!

Pickups deliver a wide-ranging tonal cocktail

This dapper P Bass delivers a wide range of tone shaping capabilities making its sound versatile and flexible. Take a listen to its Squier SQR ceramic humbucker for punchy lows and clear, articulate highs. It's SQR split single-coil on the other hand offers up biting tone worthy of humbucker territory while keeping it crisp and bright under the single-coil's shining output. And with the addition of active electronics, you've got the potential to shape your tone for any mix. The Contemporary Active Precision Bass features controls for master volume, pickup blend, master tone, and bass/treble boost.

Modern bridge maximizes your tone

You'll notice that the Contemporary Active Precision Bass boasts impressive resonance and sustain, and a big part of that is its redesigned bridge. And not only does this bridge maximize resonance and tone, it's also easier to restring and allows for precise intonation.

Slim "C"-shaped neck and 12-inch fretboard radius

While the feel of a bass guitar's neck is a matter of personal preference for any musician, many players at Sweetwater like the feel of the Contemporary Active Precision Bass's slim "C"-shaped neck profile. Topped with a 12-inch-radius fretboard, it offers easy playability and a fast, slim feel.

Squier Contemporary Active Precision Bass Features:

  • 4-string electric bass guitar with resonant poplar body
  • SQR ceramic humbucking pickup in the bridge for punchy lows, clear highs, and high-output tone
  • SQR split single-coil in the neck for crisp clarity and beefy tone
  • Active electronics with controls for master volume, pickup blend, master tone, and bass/treble boost

Squier Contemporary Active Precision Bass PH - Sunset Metallic Totally Rocks

This bass was awesome right off the shelf. Its very punchy, loud and fat. The active electronics and Squier humbucker pickups make it scream. The paint is very striking and will catch anyone's attention. The black headstock really keeps the bass looking tough. The new bridge and graphite nut are welcome additions too. I own several Squier basses than this one is moving to the top of my stock for sure. Be prepared for some outright power from this bass, no mods needed at all. The tone controls work better than most active basses as they seem to work together rather than just boost or compete. Totally love it and would recommend it for sure.

Not bad for the price...

I was drawn to this bass due to the gorgeous neck (roasted maple, w/ an Indian Laurel board)and the metallic sunset body finish. looks fantastic. Being somewhat capable as a luthier I find I will need to do a fret level and recrown to get the most out of this beauty. My one and only real complaint is the rather severe volume drop off when combining both pickups.
Most of my basses that are more than one pickup are louder when the pickups are combined, though they are mostly passive with a VVT control setup and if I max one volume out there is a noticeable difference in volume output and tone...so I guess this is to be expected, however I do not have the same issue with my active basses(Ibanez S@1200 and G&L L2000's and L2500), I suspect it is due to these being true passive pickups with an active preamp thrown in. At this price point I won't complain, but felt y'all should be aware...as for me I'll just keep the balance biased more on the neck pickup.
